Park Hyung-shik comes back from almost dying in Buried Hearts
by tccolb
Digging into the conspiracy targeting Park Hyung-shik (Doctor Slump), SBS came out with a new teaser for their crime-suspense Buried Hearts, where the powerful Heo Jun-ho (Bloodhounds) makes the one mistake of underestimating our dark hero.
We begin the teaser with Seo Dong-joo (Park Hyung-shik) seemingly admitting defeat, kneeling contritely before the big bad Yeom Jang-sun (Heo Jun-ho) to plead for his life. In the flashback, we get a peek at the backstory with Dong-joo coming to work under the Daesan chairman Woo Hyun (Seoul Busters) while also dating granddaughter Hong Hwa-yeon (Bora! Deborah). Reflecting back on what happened, Dong-joo explains that, “I was confident then about both love and getting promoted. I was sure that I would succeed in everything.”
However, in contrast to Dong-joo’s self-assurance, Jang-sun reveals that others were feeling uneasy about Dong-joo’s presence in the conglomerate. And I presume his romance with Yeo Eun-nam (Hong Hwa-yeon) was just the tip of the iceberg in the grievances laid out by the chaebol family. Stepping up to take advantage of the turmoil, Daesan’s ambitious son-in-law Lee Hae-young (Unmasked) offers to make things right by wrapping up the situation himself.
Jang-sun thus gives the order with haste, “Right this instant, there is no time to lose, find Seo Dong-joo and do whatever it takes to ensure his death.” We next cue the bloody fight sequence, but – of course – our hero miraculously survives. In the final scene, we then close on the still-alive Dong-joo’s scoffing remark, “Didn’t you think that I would kill the two of you?” And the text screen reads: “The man who lost everything begins his desperate revenge!”
Written by Lee Myung-hee (Money Flower) with PD Jin Chang-kyu (Military Prosecutor Doberman) at the helm, SBS’s Buried Hearts will be launching on February 21, following Love Scout in the weekend slot.

So, it was ML's potential father-in-law who wanted him 6 feet under? Damn, that's outright sageuk level of parental disapproval))) Wonder how plot is gonna deal with such deadly blow to OTP's relationship - this whole setup gives me hardcore TBDAW flashbacks, and that was one of the most un-romantic dramas ever.

FL's father is dead...and uncovering the truth surrounding her dad's death, and the ambition for Daesan, are this character's motivation. In the script reading she seems to leave ML to enter into an arranged marriage.

Wait, so who's that family's "son-in-law", if she's granddaughter - her step-father? or uncle? If former, I have a guess regarding who could've benefit from bio-dad's demise the most...
Leaves ML for arranged marriage? Before or after he was almost assassinated? Anyway, good, seems like everyone will have their fair share of chaebol makjang fun here.

I think before. Seems like in the script reading the ML is asking FL what she is getting from the arranged marriage that he can’t give- money, power etc. Presumably he thinks he has those before his assassination attempt.

I believe he's the stepfather and, adding to the makjang motivations lol, he has a son (from a different relationship) 😅

Well, that explains a thing or two indeed. ML, bro, couldn't you just date within your own league instead of all THAT?)))

I'm always down to watch people take revenge on chaebols these days, especially if those people are Park Hyung-sik.
Also nice that they pushed it a week so I'll have time to binge through Melo Movie before this premieres! No more conflicts!

Haha. Single drop for MeloMovie? Now if only I knew for sure this eas coming to Hulu. I really hate how they don’t allow browsing of their library or tell us what is coming before committing to subscribing.

I’m in the US and I can definitely report back about whether it actually shows up if that info would be relevant to you!
And yeah, pretty sure Melo Movie is a single drop.

That would be awesome! I don’t want to start a new subscription if it’s not available. I have been burned by Disneyplus before.

Character descriptions are out on SBS. My English translating feature is a bit poor. I think it can’t tell between genders and names sometimes.

Spoiler theory.

My theory is that ML doesn’t realize the woman he loves and chooses over the granddaughter is actually the granddaughter who is hiding as a regular worker. However she betrays him by marrying the arranged marriage guy.

A bit too much Makjang-y it seems. Nonetheless, let us get on with the revenge business and whooping the entitled chaebol ass/es.
