Gong Yoo, Song Hye-gyo
- Netflix’s Slowly and Intensely (roughly translated) has confirmed that filming has begun with Gong Yoo (Squid Game 2) and Song Hye-gyo (The Glory) as our period drama leads. Exploring broadcasting history during the 1960-70s era, production has scripts penned by Noh Hee-kyung (Our Blues), who has a long working history with Song. On the director side, it’s a reunion for Gong with Coffee Prince‘s PD Lee Yoon-jung (Summer Strike) at the helm. [MBC]
- TVING’s earnest hero Hwang Min-hyun (My Lovely Liar) just wants to get into college, but must – literally – fight to keep classroom peace and make a safe space for his Study Group. Continuing the zany battle in the latest poster and teaser, the action-comedy also stars teacher Han Ji-eun (When the Stars Gossip) and will be premiering next week on January 23. [Sports Donga]
- Ha Jung-woo (Narco-Saints) has reportedly been cast in the title role for Building Owner (roughly translated), telling the story of a man who’s crippled by debt and pushed to get involved in a fake kidnapping in order to protect his family and his property. But of course everything goes terribly wrong. Directed by filmmaker Im Pil-sung (Persona, Scarlet Innocence), the thriller is said to have Krystal (Crazy Love) attached to the lineup as well. [Sports Chosun, Star News]
- A new rom-com called My Golden Star (roughly translated) is potentially pairing an actress Uhm Jung-hwa (Doctor Cha) with police detective Song Seung-heon (Player 2 – Master of Swindlers). The two previously worked together on the 2015 film Wonderful Nightmare and are currently reviewing their offers for the series. Production is being led by PD Choi Young-hoon (Pandora: Beneath the Paradise, One the Woman) and writer Park Ji-ha (Miss Night and Day). [Osen]
- It’s a new school semester across all of dramaland this year and LG’s U+ Mobile TV has centered their mystery-thriller around the supposed Friendly Rivalry between queen bee Hyeri (May I Help You) and new transfer student Jung Soo-bin (Chief Detective 1958). The newest promos include a poster and teaser set, preparing us for high school ~drama~ to begin on February 10 next month. [10 Asia]
- Over on MBC, Seo Kang-joon (Grid) is ironing his school uniform as well, but he’s actually a secret agent tasked with operation Undercover High School and he must find King Gojong’s lost gold. But what to do when his homeroom teacher turns out to be his ex-girlfriend Jin Ki-joo (Uncle Samsik)? Starting up their promo campaign with the first script reading stills, the investigative rom-com will be coming to our screens in February. [MBC]

Noh Hee-kyung's writing is always the "star" in her dramas, the actors are secondary and i like that.
The violent high school teenager trend in web comics like Weak hero and Get Schooled continues into dramaland adaptations.
Always a pleasure to have Uhm Jung-hwa back on screen, i wonder if her brother will ever make a comeback he was fantastic in "Lucifer"

I'm oddly interested by "Study Group", it just sounds goofy and light.
Undercover High School sounds a bit like 21 Jump Street lol, and it has Jin Ki-joo? I'll def tune in!

1) I still think Song Hye-gyo is a weak actress (even after The Glory). For the writer, she loves depressing themes... But there will be Gong Yoo!
2) Not interested.
3) Too soon to judge.
4) I love this pairing!
5+6) At least, Seo Kang-joon is undercover, Hyeri is a 30 years old playing a highschool student...

I've been wondering what Writer Noh Hee-kyung's next work will be. Here you go and it's about the broadcast world which she did before with The World Within starring Hyun Bin and Song Hye-kyo (who dated for a while after that). Will watch this for NHK of course, and Gong Yoo too - but I still have reservation on SHK who is still quite wooden and hence a cold revenger in Glory suits her.

I have always contended (facetiously of course) that under SK labor laws it is illegal for high school age actors to portray high school students in dramas. Nevertheless I will be there for
No. 6. MBC’s UNDERCOVER HIGH SCHOOL. Suspended disbelief is the name of the drama game this year.

Hey, is that Jo Bok Rae I spy in the pictures from Undercover High School?! Nice! It's been a hot minute. When this drama was first announced as Seo Kang Joon's first one after military service, I admit to being surprised. But this cast is excellent, so I'm hoping that means the script is too 😉

I'm up for all the ones except the highschooler types. I just can't get into them for some reason (bad memories of MY high school days?)
Song Seung-heon is pretty good in comedy type roles and yeh, I like the man so that is for sure.

As someone else has mentioned already, writer Noh Hee-Kyung, is indeed the biggest draw. Her best for me are KDrama gold: 'That Winter the Wind Blows' (Zo In-Sung & Song Hye-Kyo are such a mesmerizing match and it's been the only drama I've liked her character in so far. Of course it was Zo In-Sung's 'faux-brotherly love' that kept pulling me back into many rewatches). Another of this award winning writer's highlights was 'Padam, Padam' (a heart wrenching story of an ex-con's love story, but so worth the tears). Others I've loved were 'It's Okay, that's Love' & 'Dear My Friends' (Two more chances to fall for Zo In Sung as well as the writer's skill in blending humour with pathos . So then on Noh Hee-Kyung's solid credentials specifically, and Gong-Yoos appeal, (especially after admiring his work as the wounded hero in 'The Trunk') I won't miss "Slowly & Intensely" but I'm also crossing my fingers that the plot & tone weigh more in favour of 'tense' than 'slow'.

i should be excited about *Slowly and Intensely* (read: Gong Yoo)... but i'm not. when i read "historical" i thought SAEGUK!YAY but then at "broadcasting in the 60/70s" my excitement deflated.
also Song Hye-gyo has all the energy and charisma of a wet blanket, i tried to like her but i can't stand her deadfish vibe. --__--

1. Although I'm not too excited about the pairing but both have what it takes to make a drama watchable. Also the story is definitely something I would like to see.
2. Zany says it all. 😂🤣 So glad I didn't see this poster before watching the drama. 😅
4. Song Seung-heon is definitely someone to watch a drama for.
5. Hyeri. 😍🥰
6. It sounds more outrageous and hilarious by the second.
