Jeon Hye-jin needs a new sitter in Riding Life

Promotions continue over at ENA for its upcoming family drama Riding Life. Starring Jeon Hye-jin (Not Others) as the busy matriarch and Kim Sa-rang as her young daughter , the show focuses on the challenges of raising a child in the modern world with an emphasis on early childhood education.

After her daughter’s sitter unceremoniously tenders her resignation and leaves the group chat, working mom Lee Jung-eun (Jeon Hye-jin) is left in a lurch. Her daily schedule changes, starting with a 7:30 AM wake-up time that leads to a thirty minute rush of getting ready and out the door for preschool. Our heroine, though, lives in the city – specifically, the affluent neighborhood Daechi-dong in Gangnam – which means the car ride to school is riddled with traffic.

By the time Jung-eun clocks into the office, it is already way past the hour, and no amount of “there was a collision on the road” excuses work with her boss. Unfortunately, dropping off her daughter Hong Seo-yoon (Kim Sa-rang) is just the start of the day since she needs to go to her after-school lessons as well. Jung-eun’s usual lunch break turns into more rides, and she realizes that this current arrangement is not feasible long-term.

While seeking advice on where to look for a new sitter, Jung-eun is told that a precious person will arrive. Cue Jung-eun’s mother Yoon Ji-ah played by Jo Min-soo (The Cursed). After Jung-eun drops by with Seo-yoon in tow, Ji-ah gets roped into the drop-off/pick-up schedule, but the mother-daughter pair don’t exactly see eye-to-eye on parenting.

Ji-ah believes kids will grow up fine on their own, but Jung-eun argues that her daughter’s peers are already preparing for the future and ahead of the curve. As a mom, Jung-eun will not let her daughter fall behind and tells Seo-yoon to hold tight as she carries her to school.

Written by Sung Yoon-ah and Jo Won-dong with PD Kim Chul-gyu (Celebrity) at the helm, ENA’s Riding Life is slated for eight episodes and premieres March 3 in the Monday-Tuesday slot.

I would watch this just to see Kim Tae-hoon as an eyelinered shaman! Or. Maybe I’ll just watch that part.

This looks like it might be fun but it will have to convince me to add it to my ever longer list that I'm behind on. Here's to the 4 episode trial.

March is beginning to look busy. At least this is a week day watch, the weekends have been ridiculous recently.

Oh! The premise is more engaging than I thought. Hopefully they will be able to maintain a balanced vibe and not make it too preachy.
