Superpowered Bae Doo-na introduces her Family Planning

The first teaser has stealthily swooped in for Coupang Play’s upcoming Family Planning, introducing the story’s secretive family in the fantasy-black comedy led by Bae Doona (The Silent Sea) and Ryu Seung-beom (Moving).

Opening the teaser with our heroine Han Young-soo (Bae Doona) arriving at a dubious hotel, we’re soon treated to her badass entrance before cutting to her snarky daughter Lee Soo-hyun feeling skeptical about their family.

In the sequence, we’re then awkwardly greeted by each of the members of this family in question as Baek Ji-woo (Lee Soo-hyun) continues to voice her tirade: “What are we? What kind of household doesn’t even have one graduation photo, let alone any photos taken together as a family? What is our identity, exactly?!”

Mom Young-soo exchanges glances with Dad Baek Chul-hee (Ryu Seung-beom), who then turns to look at Grandpa Baek Yoon-shik (Vagabond). Baek Kang-sung (Baek Yoon-shik) gives them all a knowing nod and we’re next transported to an animal hospital where the whole family – including Lomon (Branding in Seongsu) – are suspiciously gathered around a man tied-up.

Based on the teaser, it appears like this animal hospital acts as the front for their family’s true operations as superpowers fighting against baddies in their town. With all their shiny weapons out in the video’s final action sequence, we then come to a close on Grandpa Kang-sung’s proposed plan: “With this opportunity, why don’t we just come clean about what kind of family our family really is and solve this situation together?”

Coming to our screens on November 29, production for Coupang Play’s Family Planning has scripts penned by Kim Jung-min (Hush, Suits) with On the Line filmmakers, Kim Gok and Kim Sun co-directing.
