Current k-drama writers pale by comparison to a real life drama.

Actor Jung Woo-sung’s recent admission (after a requested paternity test) that he fathered a child with model Moon Ga-bi (35) has reignited conversations in South Korea about societal attitudes toward children born out of wedlock, marriage and celebrity status. While Jung (51) pledged to fulfill his responsibilities as a father without pursuing marriage, by supporting his child, the public response has been largely critical, highlighting the nation’s deeply conservative stance on non-traditional family structures.

Since the admission, netizens and reporters have posted several other allegations against Jung.
First, at the time of his relationship with Moon, he was allegedly dating for 10 years a woman who divorced her husband to be with him. Second, at the same time, he allegedly was dating a young woman half his age (as shown in posted sticker photos). Third, a woman posted a series of messages, allegedly exchanged between Jung and herself, about their daily lives and professions. About two days later, Jung wrote, "Would it be okay if I got your number? Let’s chat over text or messenger." While the online exchange appears to be a casual conversation, some argue the criticism against Jung using his celebrity status on social media to pursue non-celebrity women. Lastly, his clear intention against marriage and parenting was found in Moon’s comments about raising her son alone as a single parent did not sit well with the public.

Jung’s past interviews have had a second life because of the scandal. In 2004, he bragged about “dating” many actresses (specifically excluding his then current co-star Son Ye Jin). He said he had many on-night stands because of “fleeting attraction” toward the women he met. It was an odd interview and questionable at the time, but clearly he was signaling he was available. In 2010, he was quoted as stating that he had sex with a female celebrity that was bland. Clearly, the industry knew he was “a player” but he had no adverse consequences in his career. Until now.

Local cultural critics have noted that Jung’s public image may suffer. Popular culture critic Ha Jae-geun said, “Korea remains deeply conservative regarding issues between men and women. Public disappointment in Jung Woo-sung, who has maintained a clean image, will be significant. In Korea, there’s an expectation that fathers take full responsibility beyond just financial support.”

There may be many reasons why marriage is off the table. A Korean lawyer was quoted that he believed under current support guidelines, Jung would pay $530,000 in child support until age 18 (unless some other settlement is reached). If he married Moon, then divorced, Jung could lose 30 to 50 percent of his wealth ($10-15 million).

Some commenters think Jung’s recent actions were pre-planned to mitigate the fall-out from the scandal. He has not done any commercial endorsements in two years despite being a high-demand movie star. One reason, CF contracts have a large morals penalty clause that could be two times or more of the appearance fee. He also recently resigned as a spokesman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. One cynical social media comment read, “He advocates for accepting refugees but can’t accept his own child.”

The collateral cultural discussions are also growing. Statistics Korea reported that 10,900 babies were born out of wedlock in 2023, accounting for 4.7 percent of total births -- the highest number since 1981 when such data collection began. Statistics Korea's annual study on Korean society revealed that 42.8 per cent of Koreans believe it is acceptable to have children without marriage, marking a significant shift from a decade ago when only 30.3 per cent held this view. It appears single parenting is less of a stigma than in the past but it is still a social and employment issue. Earlier this month, Statistics Korea's annual study found 52.5 per cent of South Koreans said people should get married, while 41.5 per cent said it is a matter of choice and 3.3 per cent said they should remain single.

I don’t care what consenting adults do in their private lives, but everyone needs to take responsibility for their actions and the consequences. Many articles have popped up tying the scandal to JWS’ recent works (as history has shown, actor scandals can damage and derail movies and television shows). The biggest hit has been to JWS’ good friend, Hyun Bin, who is out actively promoting his new movie in which JWS had a cameo role. But more importantly, HB is current filming a Disney series with JWS. Will South Koreans boycott JWS’ works? Maybe. Will Disney care much about the scandal? Probably not.

I'm sorry but I can't help roll my eyes at this. Yes, it may be very true that he is looking out for his financial assets but, to me at least, it seems simply that he does not want that family life for himself. He doesn't want to settle down, especially with a woman he's not deeply in love with or attached to.

People keep saying how conservative the country is meanwhile these men who do these things were born and raised in that exact country. It's not some new phenomena of guys being promicious and having kids they don't want and it's so hypocritical that folks wanna cast stones for things that happen all the time. Yeah, it's not ideal but it's also no one else's business. How many SK parents are abusive or negectful or resentful towards their children? And folks think it's better to raise a child in that environment?

As for as the morality clauses, that can be eye roll inducing too be "like I can't possibly buy this soju or ramen brand because he has a child out of wedlock." Seriously?😑

I’d watch his shows all right, but would I really be incentivized to buy a packet of ramyeon because it’s stamped with the face of a man in a relationship with a woman young enough to be his daughter while getting another one pregnant and also sliding into the DMs of another young woman?

OK, maybe that is an aspirational goal for some men buying ramyeon. 😂 Let’s see which brand targets that segment.

Another day, another entry of knetz doing surprised Pikachu face at the "unexpected" reveal of celebs being humans (and thus occasionally messy) too. Sucks for kid, but as a someone who went through that, I firmly disagree that people who don't love or want to be together should get married for the sake of appearances only to drag their innocent child into the inevitable divorce dirtpool later instead of just co-parenting. Get a grip, SK, Joseon era has already ended! And yall are in no position to worry about illegitimacy of some kids with your tragic birth rate...

A fifty one year old celebrity who is a known playboy has a kid out of wedlock. How is anyone surprised? I would have been more shocked had he not.

With that said, people are angry that he does not want to participate in child's life and agrees to only annually pay a hefty sum.

Are they? I thought the most flack - and "tea" - comes from the baby daddy allegedly sleeping around with no intention to ever change his ways. Whether or not he'll actually be presented in his son's (it's a boy, right?) life beyond sending paychecks remains to be seen. Then again, moral police milking this entire story dry for sensation sake isn't exactly making the kid's childhood rosier either...

6

Required fields are marked *

This is low-key confusing since they talk about him "taking responsibility" for the KID, but the entire article is about him not marrying the kid's mom and having many girlfriends or the consequences for his career.

It doesn't say one thing about the actual responsibilities of a father to their child. And I didn't really understand what kind of agreement he had with the mom besides the money, or how his relationship with the kid is. They didn't even mention Moon's perspective or anything.

I'm guessing he was dating Moon at one point in the past? How old is the kid? At the beginning I thought he had donated his sperm or something. LOL I'm high-key confused.

I choose my fictional dramas over this. 😆

what I read online is that supposedly they never dated. yeah it's both funny and really sucks for the people involved when lead actors start acting like villains in their real life lol. he's not the first. I never liked him either. his acting's not that good, so there. he's not good looking or talented enough for all the dumb things he's doing.

When I read about that 3rd woman, I instantly thought of the scene from A Korean Odyssey (Hwayugi) when Ma Wang was reported to be in a coma and bunch of women came out of the woodwork to claim he had a relationship with them and fathered their children.

This story is such an invasion of privacy in my opinion and the criticism is excessive (but it always is with Korean celebrities). I've seen him called so many names and the word "victim(s)" being used and it just made me think how naive and young some commenters are. Just because you grow up in a conservative society, is it really so unbelievable and a shock to the system to think a man can father a child without being married, wanting to be married, or wanting to be involved? This is literally shown in dramas! Dramas that are reflective of real life.

Sidenote: this is one of the reasons I always feel kinda weird when people are like "it's only a drama, you don't think that stuff actually happens? How gullible/dumb are you"

The worst thing as a woman is devoting your life to a playboy. One minute you're starring in a melodrama (handsome top star falls in love with you! You leave your husband for him!) and the next minute he has a baby mama *and* side chick young enough to be his daughter. You go from living a dream to living a nightmare. What a waste of time and energy. How meaningless. I think he attracts a certain type of gullible woman who is able to put common sense on hold. Don't watch too many rom-coms, especially those that start off with a one-night stand leading to shotgun marriage. How many of those have worked out in real life? How many actresses and movie/drama viewers emulate this storyline in real life only to crash and burn? This is why I hate dramas that start with one-night stands because the chances of it leading to happiness are ridiculously slim. Maybe it helps to have a great-grandfather who was a philanderer in Shanghai to know the havoc one man's actions can cause to multiple generations of descendants. I mean, I never met my great-grandfather but his legacy lives on in the rage and depression I see in my relatives.

Not sure why he is getting so much flack about it. He is taking responsibility by giving financial support.
From my understanding it was a one night stand but both parties agreed to the child support amd current setup.
The guy is a well known actor but he is human and appears to be taking responsibility. We dont know to what extent but whatever its a private matter.

I never like him, back in 2011 when he was dating Lee Ji Ah, new media reported that Lee Ji Ah had been secretly married to the famous musician Seo Taiji for over 15 years and hid the marriage from the public at Seo's request, who was much older than her. He quick broke off with her and acted like he did not know she was married before they dated. The public was much less forgiving to Ji Ah and put her through hell even though at the time of the report, she was already separated from Seo for years and was in the process of divorcing him. Much later, he finally acknowledged that he did know she was married at the time of him dating her, by then, her once promising career was pretty much destroyed while he and Seo were not affected at all, and many even feel sympathy for him. I am glad that after several years, ji Ah started to star in dramas and regain some of her previous fame. As to him, the scene at Blue Dragon Award ceremony last night when actors/actresses cheered and applauded him after he gave a speech mentioning taking responsibility for the baby indicated despite the so called public outcry, he will not be affected at all. The hypocrisy lied in the fact that if an actress gave birth to a child while being in a long-time relationship with someone else, she would most certainly be banished and suffered serious consequence.

The whole situation—especially the speech at the awards ceremony— speaks of the heavy patriarchal nature of South Korea.
Now that he’s given a public statement and a “sorry, this is impeding on the work of my hardworking colleagues, costars, and production staff”, he’s going to be left alone. The backlash from the awards and JWS is now also getting is that the awards were tasteless in handling the situation by giving him the time and opportunity to give his schpiel (that many thought was done at an inappropriate time) about the current situation about his private life at a public (i.e. work) event, yet, no tribute was given to the late Kim Soo Mi, who’d just past away in October. Many netizens are saying that he should have quietly attended the awards or that he shouldn’t have attended at all and if he wanted to address the current situation, that he should have uploaded a handwritten letter instead.

I’m not sure how things will be fore Moon Ga Bi moving forward, but I imagine it’ll be tough due to the patriarchy of South Korea, her being young(er), and that she’s is a single mom. I agree that 2 people shouldn’t be together if it isn’t going to be health and isn’t going to work out, even if a child is involved— I’ve been in a situation like this with the issues my own parents had. Likewise, South Korea isn’t exactly known for being kind to the marginalized, single parents, elderly, disabled, etc., and their social services for this ^ community of people isn’t very much nor very helpful. I keep hearing horror stories from my friend who lives in Korea and she keeps telling me how thankful she is that her husband is in the military so they have some sort of protection and social services “better than most” actual Korean citizens in comparison (U.S. military deployed in Korea, and that’s why my friend is in Korea— to be with her husband)

Uff. Thanks for posting this wasn’t the first time he’s been a cad. Honestly, it shouldn’t have impacted anyone’s acting career back then, but of course, the only one penalized was the woman. I was amazed LJA eventually, sorta, bounced back. So maybe there’s hope of change.

I was totally with Hyeri at the awards. It ain’t nothing worth clapping for.

the actresses next to her clapped out of duty because at least of them belong to an agency he co-owns (I think). so they had to show support. maybe they've had only positive experiences with him as their sunbae. he probably treats them to meals, etc. so they have a good impression of him. probably I would be compelled to clap too if I were in their shoes, although it looks bad to the rest of the world. again, people ask why his private life is an issue? well, because he's using his celebrity status to hook up with various women. so yeah, it's no longer just his private life.

NOTES FROM 9TAILEDVIXEN'S FINAL WEEK OF NOVEMBER 2024:

(A) Random Fashion Rant

What the EFF are sportswear designers smoking?

I am searching for long-sleeved Yoga tops because the silks bruise my arms quite badly sometimes and here are the options I found:

1. Long-sleeved crop tops. Yes, geniuses - crop tops which expose my midriff which will get bruised by the silks even though my arms will be protected.

2. Long-sleeved crop tops that have OPEN BACKS. See above and add in "let's leave our back open to silk-bruising as well"

3. Tops with enough coverage of the torso but sleeveless

4. Short-sleeved tops that go right to the hips but are bodycon so everyone can see your lumps and bumps.

5. And no, rash guards don't quite work because they are for water sports and hence not made of terribly breathable material.

AIYAIYAIYAIYAI!!!!!

Meanwhile, men get all the comfortable tops with the good coverage. UGH! TYPICAL!

(B) This Week in Korean Women's News

(a) ‘We’d rather perish’: protests roil South Korean women’s university over plan to admit male students

Dongduk women’s university in Seoul was set up to help women in a deeply patriarchal society, but a demographic crisis is putting that under pressure.

ince 11 November, students have staged a sit-in, initially occupying the main building and blocking access to classroom buildings across campus, forcing classes to move online and a planned job fair to be cancelled.

The outcry was sparked by plans for some departments to admit male students but have since spiralled into a wider clash over the future of women-only spaces in a country that is grappling with the issue of gender equality.

2. North Korean women use wet wipes to flaunt their status

Wet wipes, a status symbol among North Korean women, are slowly becoming more available to ordinary people.

Starting about 10 years ago, South Korean and Chinese-made wet wipes, imported via China, showed up in department stores in the capital Pyongyang. They were expensive, so only the wealthy elite could afford them.

Happy Friday, Beanies! Yesterday marked 1 year since AJTL premiere and beginning of my crush obsession with LYN, which caused this series of posts to happen in the first place so hurray! Can't believe it's been so long – and yet so little – since then, feels a bit weird, isn't it? Then again, I always had a terrible sense of time... Anyway, here's a cutie NYZ for ya:
https://ibb.co/9scSRBQ

We were supposed to get lots of new music this already, but alas, his livestream concert had to be postponed till early December (due to delayed equipment delivery and one of his band mates getting sick), his performance on some public gala event was recorded but idk when will air etc – just a bad luck all around, at least for me))) Hopefully all will be well next week and we'll get the concert AND his stage on iQiyi Night – latter got a good chuckle from me when he was NOT in the OG version of lineup, but quickly confirmed attendance after winning that NYZ trophy (nice priorities!)^^
Upd.: and new OST coming soon too! But of course)))

All the above mostly means we're stuck with old covers once again, not that you mind, right? A bit of VERY dusty retro for starters with “Swan goose” - not sure how I feel about him doing... that sound between lines, but this vocal tone of his is always a win to me)))
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm1kDSRokps

There isn't much of theme today, sorry, I'm just throwing at yall whatever sounds nice))) I like the next song tho – with the title “It's not easy to have someone who loves you” (OG singer Na Ying) it's solid by concept alone already, right? His voice aside, piano is nice here – not too overbearing and fitting the mood:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLgRSbjlAsE

We're only a day or two from winter, so now is perfect time for the cover of Wang Feng's “In spring”^^ I mean, what is winter if not a long, slumbery wait for the spring? Hardly the catchy song, but it doesn't need to be.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnYjZbZPakY

More sentimental feels with same titled OST from movie GOODBYE MR. LOSER – from what I could gather, it's a comedy film, but you'd never guess from the song itself or the dramatic way Yuning performs it. Must be one of those “baits you with laughs and ends in tears” stories...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pD0QpNa8xlQ

Not to argue with Chinese belief that 4 is an unlucky number, let's wrap today at 5 songs – how about something more lively? For example, this short cover of Jay Chou's “Adorable woman”, which is almost inhumanly fast, poor Ning-ge was out of breath even before midway, but kept going on sheer willpower, I guess. And still sounded good, ha! Anyway, it's such a fun one, I wouldn't mind to listen more... *cue his likely annoyed glare at me wishing to prolong his suffering*

Bonuses: another big interview. Lol at his naive confusion why Tencent keeps flustering him with compliments – dude, they hold not 1, but 2 of your soon-to-air ML dramas, ofc they're gonna praise you in advance! The “studying psychology to pick up body language of being in love” is also funny – surely at your age and experience you know a thing or two about that without textbooks, mister?^^ Reminds me of that time when he was asked during livestream to do something that girls like – and this menace of a man dropped his voice like 2 octaves down, made it husky and sultry and went: “This? I have NO IDEA, honestly!”, then laughed it off. Ugh, not that I ever truly bought his innocent act, but that was still a rude awakening)))
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDbBnQw1oDM

Some acting detail clips because I feel the urge to stress one last time how GOOD his performance was, adlibs included. Heavy spoilers because duh. Trembling hands scene – oh, this felt so emotionally RAW!

Betrayal reveal – sloppy writing aside (how tf he never felt off vibes? wrong genre savvy you were, my guy), his face alone says it all. Also, action sequence because I never get tired seeing Yuning doing flying kicks)))
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrapC-ipWXg

Too bad the official clip cut the scene in half - the award for worst editing of the year goes to... - but other sources got us covered (sorry for non-eng subs):

Today is the end of TSOPG VIP broadcast, so we got usual long ass essay from Yuning to bid a farewell to his role, along with tribute video which murdered any claims of open ending in cold blood, ahaha. Interesting contrast between this and NYZ's eulogy – that one was full of regret, apologies and longing, but here he's like “nah, worth it”. Wonder if that's because this time he went down alone... What a cynical take on life, dude – you should value your fictional boys more, they deserve to live and prosper too!
https://x.com/fandoestrans/status/1862399902598484083

To soothe the ache, here's fanmade of YZJ being still alive and pretty – I hate the significance of these outfits (he's sick and always freezing, so wardrobe gets warmer gradually with buttons up, high collar and furs, not to mention the tragic loss of majority of bejeweled braids *sniffs* Also the fact that Yuning lost a lot of weight to look the part and kept getting colds for real as result), but boy, does he rock this style! His upcoming shows fashion looks great too, but I'm gonna miss seeing him in hufu and entire accessory shop of jewelry for the sake of flex, so spicy! Who should I ask to give him more tribal setting scripts?

Thank you!

AJTL was so good that till now people talk about it more fondly that about many 2024 dramas... that's something, I believe I did a good choice starting it)))

SEE HER AGAIN is a mixed bag for me because I'm a huuuge fan of Korean original and this remake, while having its own unique HK flavor, doesn't really excel in things I loved the most about TUNNEL. Solid enough standalone show for those not troubled by comparisons tho.

HEROES (2024), aside of occasional eyebrow rising writing blips - including borderline xianxia moments and poor LYN getting the short end of a stick with aimlessly meh character - was a decent non-idol drama, esp on the technical side. Certainly better than HEROES (2022), which I still need to finish one of these days when I'm in the mood for self-torture. I think you're gonna like it, QJJ's performance and all.

Happy weekend Beanies and keep Beaning On!

My mind has been very preoccupied ever since my last OT early November.

Day 1 of my work formation the two teachers announce there will be exams for each of their topics in December. Exams need to be officially communicated by email long before the formation starts to avoid double bookings like other formations, teambuilding, leave days, or you know, just being present at work for your team leader and colleagues. They solved the problem by giving us access to the exam forms for a week and making it open book, but that does not erase my displeasure.🤨

When not at work or in formation, I have been trying to keep my private agenda empty for as much study preparation as possible. Studying 24/7 got me mentally ill in the past, so I try to find a healthy balance. Not easy when everybody is trying to include me in their fantastic plans for the Holidays and 2025 and I am just not in the mood right now.😔

One of those things is the Stray Kids World Tour. It would have been less stressful if the ticket sale and its announcement took place after my exams, but I am not longer going to complain about that because….in the end we got tickets!!!!!!! 🥳 🥳 🥳

The adrenaline high after the good news spurred me into action to get some more errands and studying done this week. Right now I am finished with the study preparations for part one of the formation in time for that exam next week. Meanwhile part two of the formation has started. Wish me luck as I sign off now to go and start my study preparation part two! 💪 💪 💪

Best of luck, and remember to find ways or things to do to keep your mental health in check and to take care 🥰 It’s hard, especially in moments of being overwhelmed and not knowing where to begin with a long list of things to do, but it’s the only way to be sustained long term

I’m always here and my FanWall is always open to whoever wants to talk 😊 I’m willing to listen (read? lol) as long as you’re willing to share. Feel free to tag me as well! Though, I recently (a.k.a. Yesterday) emailed the DB staff to change my username/tag (@bebeswtz) to match my display name (@Nessa), but I’m not sure when it’ll be done, so hopefully if people are going to tag me in things in the next little while, it won’t be too confusing 😅

Being a kdrama AND jdrama fan is strange right now. I see the entire kdrama fandom having a meltdown because dramacool and its clones are finally closing down. In the jdrama fandom, a majority are similarly sad... unlike a minority of fansubbers, because that accursed site was stealing our hard work for the past 15 years...

I'm kinda mixed. with dramacool down, they won't be able to steal fan translators' work anymore (good) but it *was* a repository for a lot of older jdramas and kdramas, which are off the internet now (bad).

As someone who has, from time to time, accidentally clicked on Dramacool or other unauthorized sites, for shows that are not available in the U.S. but also, mainly, kdramas that are older and wouldn't ever be available on Viki, Netflix, Prime, Hulu/Disney, etc. I definitely understand the upset.

I pay the subscription for all these sites, so I am not trying to rip anybody off. And if there was an omnibus kdrama site that would have all these dramas--or, in addition, an omnibus jdrama site, I would pay for that as well, since I'm generally an honest man. But there isn't, and Disney/Netflix in particular make these totally financially driven, and likely algorithm-driven decisions about what they make available in what region--decisions that do not reflect my fandom!

But, despite my criticism of algorithms, I do appreciate the fact that Netflix now keeps showing me jdramas in their "recommended for you" shows. My wife and I are watching more and more of those these days (we're presently enjoying a kind of sappy and mindless show "After-school Doctor" where a lot of really cute child actors drive home the subtle and unexpected lesson that parents should love and take care of their children).

It will get more expensive as each subscription service raises rates while slowing down production and licensing deals for Asian dramas. It is already like an internet scavenger hunt to find the dramas you want to watch. Sigh.

i had to drop After-school Doctor because like too many J doramas, it has the preachy moral of the story emphasis.

Light of My Lion is fabulous! Good Luck was pretty good, netflix is posting kimura takuya's dramas. i've been requesting some of his other/older dramas.

Any baseball fans here? Apparently the big news the past week was Taiwan's surprise 4:0 win against Japan in the international Premier12 baseball/softball tournament. Even though Japan lost, their fans were very good-natured and were able to congratulate the winning team. The footage of the happy team celebrating and crying touched many Japanese fans. Japan's baseball team has been on a 27 game winning streak before last Sunday's game. It came as a total surprise because the game was held in Japan (home turf advantage). This is the first time Taiwan has won a men's international baseball tournament in 30+ decades. If Premier12 sounds unfamiliar, you can think of it as the equivalent of the World Cup and Olympics for baseball. The winning team went home to much fanfare. For a small country constantly living with existential threat from the mainland, this is the sweetest most uplifting news possible. The 30 year old MVP broke down in tears on the field, waving the flag of Taiwan fearlessly and proudly. It was a moment.

I love baseball, especially baseball broadcasts on the radio which doesn't really exist anymore. What a great story. You can't make this up.

baseball broadcasts on the radio, ah that makes me nostalgic for some reason hearing that. they don't do that anymore? that's very sad! it's like an art form! I love listening to the radio and podcasts - they help me go to sleep. There were/are some great radio programs~~~

They used to do a Sunday night baseball broadcast, like a game of the week kind of thing, but I think that's also gone now. I grew up listening to baseball on the radio and it's terrific for visualizing play on the field. Totally miss that.

In the US, this year was "yes, you can buy a championship" lesson when the Dodgers defeated the Yankees in the World Series.

For the last year I have been a fangirl of Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani, even though I live in the east coast of US rather than near LA where he plays for the Dodgers. Hopefully he will return to pitching as well as batting next season -- and become a phenom of the ages. So, I was super excited to watch him play in the MLB final championship games (on TV) on my recent trip to Korea and Japan. I even took a photo on of my Tokyo hotel TV of him batting in the last game against the Yankees.

I had planned to buy a baseball tshirt with Ohtani's name in Japan, where he is widely beloved. But to my surprise, there were no Ohtani shirts for sale that I could find. Not only did I not see anyone wearing Ohtani stuff but they did not wear any sports-themed gear, except for some adorable Japanese middle-schoolers dressed in full baseball uniform who were obviously walking to their team practice. I was told that, except for baseball caps, people wear team branded clothes only when they go to actual games.

I can remember first noting in the early 2000s that besides their local teams, people wore Man United, NY Yankees, etc. shirts all over Europe and the US.

he's so hard not to like, isn't he? just seems so wholesome especially with his wife a fellow athlete in her own right. interesting to hear about the cultural differences re: team jerseys~! that is strange that they weren't selling his shirts, I mean it seems like a great business strategy especially with increase in tourists!

The New Jeans era is over.
How can such a successful, creative and talented group get destroyed?
There were winning - until someone decided that they shouldn’t be winning.
Greed, pride, ego annihilated a great thing.
I though the Fifty Fifty debacle was bad- but this was way worse.
NewJeans forever💕♥️💔

Even though it's Saturday, I hope someone sees this and replies because I'm genuinely confused/curious.

I'm constantly surprised to hear BTS members are currently enlisted. There barely seemed to be a moment when they weren't still in the news or their music or projects weren't out. Like how old is Seven? Or Standing Next To You?
I mention those songs cause I think I saw them nominated for awards recently. Even more recently I think I saw a member doing choreography video or something. Aren't they supposed to be enlisted? How are they still getting projects out like this or am I wrong?

And if they can still get projects out while enlisted, why do so many other idols or musicians make such an issue over being enlisted? Like that guy who came to US to avoid his service only to then get banned from ever returning or the other guy who faked epilepsy or something to avoid his service, was caught, and then got a court case against him (or whatever happened. I know his career has taken a hit).

I'm not sure about the others but apparently HYBE made sure to collate enough content of all members of BTS for their 18 months' absence. So now they are drip releasing the content filmed before enlistment.

The enlistment dates were also planned in a phased manner so that all are not gone all at once.
