Kim Woo-seok enrolls in the Social Savvy Class 101

School bells are ringing for our latest teen romance, brought to us by Social Savvy Class 101. When an unpopular loner discovers the Achilles’ heel of the school’s beloved star, she seizes the chance to make a name for herself and raise her popularity through him. Along the way, his burgeoning feelings begin to complicate matters, especially when a familiar face returns to stir up her heart.

Kim Woo-seok (Night Has Come) stars as Gaeon High’s popular student Kang Woo-bin, who’s an idol trainee at a major entertainment company. From his handsome looks to his stellar grades, he’s practically born to be a superstar — but as all dramaland heroes do, he harbors a secret deep within.

Enter Kang Na-eon (Pyramid Game) as Kim Ji-eun, an outsider with barely any presence in school or at home. Despite dreaming of being well-liked by her peers, the reality is starkly different. So much for worrying about being a nuisance to her classmate, since he didn’t even notice her there. Worse yet, her peers can barely even remember her name.

Everything changes, though, when our overlooked heroine chances upon a lost phone and winds up becoming the administrator of the school’s popular anonymous forum app. Ji-eun catches wind of Woo-bin’s secret, having figured out his forum username, and she sees a golden opportunity. With that, she asks him to teach her how to become popular. Then she threatens — or requests, as she claims — him to publicly confess to her. It’ll be a surefire way of gaining attention, wouldn’t it?

Naturally, Woo-bin is taken aback, but he’ll have to comply if he doesn’t want the whole school to learn that he’s tone-deaf. Awkwardly practicing his confession, Woo-bin soon realizes he’s taking more notice of Ji-eun than he initially expected to. From helping her out and catching her when she stumbles, to… catching feelings for her?

Before Woo-bin can make sense of his heart, a competitor appears. Ji-eun’s childhood friend Lee Dong-min, played by Choi Geon, has just transferred to Gaeon High. It’s a long-awaited reunion, and it’s clear from the way Dong-min tenderly gazes at Ji-eun that he hasn’t stopped liking her.

And so, Ji-eun finds herself caught — quite literally — between the two boys. She’ll have more to contend with, though, because she’s about to step on the toes of Han Chae-rin as the tenacious queen bee Min Seol-hee. When Ji-eun begins entering her circle with her newfound attention, Seol-hee can’t help but feel bothered.

Then there’s Son Dong-pyo as Mo Bong-gu, Gaeon High’s information shuttle. Gossip reaches his ears and spills from his lips faster than anyone else’s, which can be either a boon or a bane depending on which side of the gossip mill one falls on. Will our fake-dating couple fall hand-in-hand into outcast territory, or will they blossom into a real relationship that earns the adoration of the whole school?

Led by PD Bae Ha-neul alongside scriptwriter Go Yi-chan, Social Savvy Class 101 premieres very soon on November 10. The drama is set to stream on TVING, Wavve, Watcha, and Viki, exact scheduling to be determined.

I can't usually get into teen type dramas however this looks cute so I might do the 4 episode trial, if I have time.

High school shenanigans would not be my automatic choice but the synopsis sounds intriguing and fun. Much depends on the treatment I guess. A light, deft touch could really elevate the drama.
