Park Seo-joon returns to face Gyeongseong Creature 2

Taking a soaring leap from 1945 to present day, Netflix’s Gyeongseong Creature is back with Season 2, where we re-meet Park Seo-joon (Itaewon Class) and Han So-hee (Soundtrack #1) in the action-thriller’s latest promos.

Following the haphazardous events of Season 1 – that we see in flashback – the teaser then cuts to 78 years later, showcasing the cityscape of what is now Seoul in 2024. But it seems the old threat as well as a still-alive Yoon Chae-ok (Han So-hee) remains roaming the streets. And the latter is shocked to run into Jang Ho-jae (Park Seo-joon), who ~mysteriously~ looks exactly like the first season’s Jang Tae-sang (also Park Seo-joon).

We’re then introduced to our story’s new players, with the ever-sinister Lee Moo-saeng (Blood Free) making a chilling appearance, overseeing the work in shadowy research labs. In contrast, Bae Hyun-sung (Miraculous Brothers) gives a friendly (?) hello. But he’ll also be starting a cat-and-mouse chase with both Ho-jae and Chae-ok as his targets.

Ramping up the action in the teaser’s final sequence, we end on our desperate leads as they fight to put an end to their enemy once and for all. Amid the struggle, we then close as Chae-ok reveals her true fear, expressing her desire for hope in a hopeless world.

With production led by Season 1’s PD Jung Dong-yoon (It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, Stove League) and writer Kang Eun-kyung (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim), Netflix’s Gyeongseong Creature 2 will be releasing this month on September 27.

As one of the (probably) 4 people who really enjoyed most things about the first season, I’m going into this with hopefulness, but also trepidation. The vibe of 1945 was so strong that I’m not sure how it will translate to present day, and we don’t seem to have the benefit of a good monster show like we did the first time around, but I’ll still be there for the premiere!

I liked it too, and I have the same worries about this part as you do. The setting of part one was so integral to the story. But I'll still check it out and see.

I guess I'm also among the four who liked the first season, despite its shortcomings. ;)

I really liked the 1940s setting, although I do wish that the writers would have utilized the historical context and shady hospital a bit more to up the fright factor and add a greater sense of unease. I will definitely check out the second season.

Hehehe … looks like I am that fourth one. 😂
Well Chingus ready or not there is a Season 2 coming. I do think think that the monsters (or modern monsters!?) will definitely be part of the scene. Agreed about the importance of the 1940s setting and vibe. It really added to the atmosphere and also chill factor.
