but weird patron activity too. of course the lady sending all her documents and pin codes to frauds, it is just impossible, even the police talked to her but she will not listen - she should be supervised so she doesnt lose any more money but there is lack of staff in psychiatric ward.
even tho I feel we should get paid as their staff..
Things people present us instead of library card to lend a book ( or violin):

The news story cycle is short; once it is out of sight it is out of mind until something bad happens.
This week, Yonhap News in Korea reported a woman in her 30s in cardiac arrest died last week due to delays in finding an emergency room to treat her during the Chuseok holidays. It was found that emergency medical technicians in Busan called hospitals in the area 92 times to find a ER that could treat her, but failed to locate one while the patient was suffering multiple heart attacks.
The woman suddenly began experiencing convulsions and called 119 at 2:15 a.m. on Sept. 17, falling unconscious by the time the paramedics arrived. Though she was in a level-1 life-threatening condition, she was turned down by 10 hospitals in Busan, due to them being unable to treat neurological issues at the time. The paramedics brought her to nearby Haedong Hospital, where her condition temporarily improved with CPR and medication. But her condition required treatment from a legally-designated superior general hospital -- defined by a larger staff and better equipment. Despite dozens of calls by both the 119 call center and the emergency workers, none of the qualified hospitals could take her due to a lack of medical personnel. She suffered a total of four cardiac arrests in the process, and ultimately was pronounced dead at 6:25 a.m.
This tragedy is the among a number of recent cases where patients were unable to receive the urgent treatment they needed due to the shortage of doctors, amid the months long mass walkout of interns and resident physicians across the country protesting the government's plan to hike the medical school admissions quota by 2,000.
Recent National Fire Agency data showed that ambulances carrying urgent patients were turned away by hospitals 2,645 times between January and June this year. Of those, 1,081 were because of a lack of doctors.

I don't understand this doctor strike/walkout. It seems like it should illegal or at least unethical for medical personnal to have strikes and walkout exactly for reasons like above.
Why is it problem that the governments is allowing or wants to allow more admissions. I think it's more problematic that so many aspiring doctors wanna do the same things like plastic surgery and not for instance work in emergency rooms.
And then a drama got shelved over this issue.
I just do not understand

I don't know how it stands in SK, maybe they are just picky and greedy. And for sure, they cannot have meant for people to die? They must have planned their protest badly.
But I know that in Denmark, nurses went on strike (moderated by necessity, though, admittedly). Better work conditions and wages have been long due for them. But it's hard for them to go on strike exactly because their services are so necessary. It's like the urgency of their jobs is used against them.
If doctors in SK are overworked an used the same way, I can understand why they would cut down. Or if what they are doing is implementing a 40 hours' work week instead of a 70 hours' one.
In Denmark, the wage for a lot of lesser educated jobs were decided by the government in the late 60's, and they decided - it's there in the papers! - that the traditional male jobs should be paid more than the traditional female jobs at otherwise same level of education and effort. So all the woman that save us, and our children, and our old people, they have been paid like second class citizens ever since.
Well, enough about that.
It's horrible that people die. The Danish nurses made exceptions for emergency situations when they went on a strike.

Doctors are humans too. They also have the right to protest for better working conditions. How can you make it illegal for an entire profession to protest? And honestly, in our country this happens all the time, doctors are forced to return to work and the government never does anything for us bc we can’t strike for long, it’s funny bc since we are so essential is exactly why we are so exploited. I’m not from SK but from what I understand they are striking bc it’s expensive to study to be a doctor and if they increase quotas that leads to more doctors, more competition, and lower salaries for individual doctors, making it harder for them to pay back student loans. And that’s also why people aspire to be plastic surgeons, not only is it better paid, emergency room work is stressful, dangerous, and often takes over your life, not everyone is equipped to do that. And honestly the whole medical school journey is taxing beyond belief and at the end of it, most people just want to choose having their own life. It’s only “problematic” if you don’t see doctors as regular people. It’s crazy how dehumanised this profession is.

👌
And if I'm not mistaken, the government proposed to increase the quota because the doctors were asking for better pay and work conditions, which makes it even more unfair.

It *is* problematic because it leads to deaths.
There are some jobs and careers that provide essential services that can't strike because of the effects it would have lives.
I don't know how they can have grivances heard but if a doctor or an aspiring doctor, whose has an ACTUAL oath to do no harm and save lives, chooses not forego that, then yeah I think it's an issue and they shouldn't be doctors.

You know only one side of the story, mind it. The one the government wants to show you, because they control all media.
I highly recommend to you to read the book "This is going to hurt" by Adam Kay. This is very interesting book, which is " a collection of diary entries written by Kay during his medical training from 2004 to 2010. Kay's book discusses political issues in the health care system of the National Health Service in the United Kingdom and societal conflicts between the general population and neglected doctors."
He told about doctor's struggles in UK, and I was in shook to read how terrible was their working conditions. He said that many people, and his friends, quit because they couldn't stand the working conditions and poor salaries. He and the other doctors didn't quit just because they knew that if they didn't come to work, no one would replace them.
And as a result, when the conditions became completely unbearable and the doctors began to protest, the government made them look like a bad people in the eyes of the public.
You don't know what conditions Korean doctors work in, what they put up with, and how long they put up with it. You only know that they boycotting and the trigger was increasing quota. Anything that they want to tell and to show korean media and government won't tell you. I understood this clearly after reading how their president said that doctors in other countries never boycotted, and I know this isn't true. I can understand why korean angry at doctors, but they could ask a government to increase their salaries, not to treat them like enemies.

I was just thinking about this exact news. The walkout is a big reason why I feel uneasy about traveling to South Korea. Especially since I had an emergency surgery last year, I know that anything can happen anytime. I was so lucky that I was at home when I got sick and a short distance to a hospital. If I had been traveling or living in a warzone, I would have probably died. So I made the difficult decision to put South Korea travel plans on hold until the walkout has been resolved and hospitals are back to normal. Of course, not everyone will agree with my choice but it makes more sense for me since I just had a medical scare recently.

I suppose nothing except treating them like enemies. This boycott is pretty long, doctors probably have their conditions on which they will return, and I doubt it only about quota. Government could resolve it a long time ago, but instead they choose to play on human's lives and emotions.

3 9TailedVixen Loves Hanging Upside Down
September 27, 2024 at 5:36 AM
NOTES FROM 9TAILEDVIXEN'S 4TH WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 2024
1. It's been an odd week at work - preparations for Domestic Violence Awareness Month have been continuing apace though prep for an initiative to be launched in 2025 is running into continuous delays at the same time. I'm trying not to stress about it because my team generally gets things done even if we run behind sometimes.
2. I'm now nicely settled into going for Aerial Yoga 3 times per week. It helps me progress steadily though I must confess I had to squeak for help from my teacher once this week because I got stuck trying to transition from an upright pose to one that required me to hang off the silks with just one arm.
Yes, I had a Jin from BTS moment - yelping "Help! Help! Help!"
Everyone who was on the floor rushed to help. It's good to be in a class where everyone knows we're all there to learn and we all get stuck at some point.
3. This Week In Korean Women's News
(a) South Korean man admits to burying partner in cement>/b>
A man in South Korea has confessed to murdering his girlfriend and hiding her body in cement - 16 years after she was reported as missing.
The man, who is in his 50s, told local police he hit the woman with a blunt object during an argument at his apartment in the southern city of Geoje. He then placed her dead body into a suitcase, which he buried under a layer of bricks and cement on his balcony.
It remained there unnoticed until last month, when a maintenance worker discovered it while drilling, local media reported.

2. She claimed she aborted her baby at nine months. In this country, there’s no law against that
A South Korean vlogger who claimed to have terminated her pregnancy at 36 weeks is being investigated for murder in a case that’s prompted horror in South Korea and raised urgent questions about why the country has no abortion laws.In South Korea – and there haven’t been for almost four years
It’s a policy vacuum that experts say not only opens the door to potential malpractice but also hinders access to safe abortions, with women and doctors forced to navigate a state of legal uncertainty.
In a joint statement, a coalition of 11 South Korean women’s organizations and NGOs slammed the government for pursuing women who terminate pregnancies rather than improving access to abortion care.

Yes, those 9 months are no child's play. I cannot understand how anyone would carry a baby that long and then ... I have never heard about anyone doing that before, because, if you want to not have a baby, you will want to get rid of the embryo as early as possible - for your own and your body's sake, if nothing else.
I have heard, though, of women who were denied abortion even if they knew the embryo/baby was dead. I talked to one, once, who were forced to carry a dead embryo for several months late in the "pregnancy". I am not sure but like, from 4 months in to 6 months in, before they understood she was right about the embryo being dead.
The idea of women aborting as late as nine months is used to implement restriction, but it's so unjust, because no woman in her right mind would do that unless for very serious reasons. I you willingly carry an embryo beyond the first trimester, it's because you really wanted a child.

So most likely like I said, not something people do because they do not want to have a child, but because something is wrong. I mean, if people just willy-nilly decided to have an abortion that late, it would be more than one percent, surely.
DK-Drama ❤️🎄 Giffing n Space Cadetting 👼🏻🌟
September 27, 2024 at 9:48 AM
So I read the article AFTER my long answer, because ... I am that dumb. And that just after having read about the desperate lack of doctors, even.
But 1) Abortion medicine is forbidden, and it's hard to get to abortion.
2) There is no legislation about abortion, and that means there is no rules that women who want it should have help in good time.
3) The government has blocked sites of NGO's offering help.
4) The child was still born, according to hospital records, so, like in my explanation above about the woman who had to live with death inside her for months.
So lots of sad, sad reasons for that woman to do so.

I've been listening to Cheeze's OST track from No Gain No Love a lot and it makes me think about how good Cheeze is at conveying those heart-fluttering feelings of falling in love (my favorite OST track of all time is "How About You" from Suspicious Partner, which has a similar vibe).
Anyway, in non-Kdrama news, I am anxiously waiting to hear what productions the local community theaters will be staging this spring and summer. Word on the street with one company is possibly Brigadoon, which I would LOVE because the lead female role is one of my dream roles. I'm really hoping to get cast in a lead role, or at least a role with a solo number, before I age out of the "ingenue" roles that best fit my voice.
I've also started studying higher soprano coloratura operatic rep in an effort to get more comfortable with the tip top of my range, which has been challenging but a blast. Currently working on a piece called the Swiss Echo Song, which is adorable and incredibly fun to sing, and will be working on "Caro nome" from Rigoletto next.

Happy Friday, Beanies! We are approximately few weeks away from grand comeback of LYN the actor and while we're waiting, LYN the singer is there to keep us entertained. Thoroughly, I'd say – once released from filming site into wilderness, he goes full feral cat and leaves nothing
aliveuncovered, it's borderline scary sometimes.Starting with OST, of course – our main course most of the time! “Ordinary” from ongoing show LOVE OF NIRVANA reminds me of “Old friend” – both by the vibe and lyrics. Less devastated, perhaps. Maybe because I'm not watching the drama, it's harder for me to feel this song... Anyway, subbed lyrics video – seems like there is no MV yet:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nhj5-bmkJWs
There are many types of weekend routines in the world for different people. Ning-ge, for example, likes to hang out with friends... I mean, crashing other singers concerts))) Joking – he was invited by his female counterpart OST queen Zhang Bichen, tho she naively thought he's too busy to actually show up. Lol, girl, when did that stop him?))) Cue the blindingly sparkly (even the hair got glitters! so festive!) him making someone else's fans go crazy (those dolphin screams lol) – such a nice and supportive audience, he was charmed as well. And right away started making plans to move his own concert to an earlier date (this year), which I doubt is possible... did he forget he's yet to drop his new albums (plural) first? Lmao, this excited manchild! YOLO OST – whoa, it's much more colorful than purposefully flat original version, nice:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMstaQE4FjE
And short version of “Flower heart” as a duo – well, his solo fancam of it. They're so cute... but she should prepare a ladder next time)))
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu0e8EXBsII
While Sunday night our busy bee spent on *checks notes* The Greater Bay Area Film Concert belting out famous retro track “The bold and the beautiful” (a rather censored take on direct translation “Loving the country, but loving the beauty more”) and overall looking like a billion yuans. For real – I forgive his stylist(s) for last time's blunder, THIS was everything, pls keep the vibe going! TV cut:
https://youtu.be/L9TsLUpXTT4?si=yqAj0delgyZVSqRW
Apparently he sounded so amazing that audience at the venue got him trending for it lol. Crowd was too smitten to even notice the ultimate proof of live singing - messed up lyrics)))
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcjd9OwqwOw
Next stop was Weibo Music Awards, where they celebrated his 6 years since debut with Reputable Singer Of The Year award (same as last year – wait, nothing for “Offer”? really? lemme get my sword) and performance of the very track that first made him famous - “Tell the truth/To be honest”. Feat tribute video!

He had all the fun off-stage, with most of his musician friends being in the same room at once – good to see his social life thriving. Gotta say, I'm not thrilled with this particular remix (why changing the rock arrangement? that was a big element of his cover going viral!) - it sounds like something you'd hear at resort disco with mainly middle-aged clientèle^^ Not to mention absolute tech failure – the sound in TV cut is hysterically bad, they've pretty much ruined all his efforts. Except fashion ones – I did not dare to expect the continuation of “cleavage out” concept, but thank you, truly and sincerely! 3-piece suit with no shirt is the new classic))) The “at least visuals deliver” version:

Bonus1: gorgeous photos from Bay Area event – with each new still my jaw dropped lower and lower... tho still not as low as his neckline, that was a full off the cliff plunge, damn! Who are you, fanservice creature, and what did you do to our Mr Modesty?

Bonus2: if you thought photos alone weren't deadly enough... Between fan as a prop, camera angles, lounge jazz BGM and... interesting face expressions made someone clearly woke up and chose violence that day.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdWKlPz_FB4
Bonus3: WMA photos – idk what is it with chess (can he even play? I'd have more faith in, for example, mahjong), but the vibe and eyeshadow are on point.

I may not seen FULL HOUSE, but I know Rain and can imagine)))
My take is based on subjective context - this is the man who's been infamously stitching his already fully buttoned up shirts dead shut for emphasis and sweating in long sleeved layers like a roasted cabbage even in summer. All "thanks" to few unfortunate encounters with overly thirsty fans - it's been years, but gotta give it to him, such level of dedicated pettiness is remarkable.
Not quite sure why he suddenly changed his mind and started to show significantly more skin once again. He did admit to envying male celebs who can confidently go shirtless and low-key working on his body to join that club one day. Even happily reporting that his abs is "halfway there", tho I cannot recall any serious promises to share the results of his efforts with public. It's more of an ego thing for him, I think, esp after all "not hot enough" crap he's been getting lately. If anything can motivate this guy, it's poking his stubborn "you cannot do that" point)))
He's been getting MUCH bolder in other areas as well...Or maybe he just wants to let his poor skin breathe after the hell it went through this summer during filming... He still has irritation marks from wig glue on his neck((( I am NOT complaining either way - man is free to dress AND undress however he pleases^^
Undressing prior fully shaped "washboard" is also very much welcomed - idgaf about abs all that much, tbh.P.S. Rain's bar may be still far ahead, but the neckline keeps sinking even as we speak... 👀

FULL HOUSE (2004) should be put in a time capsule, it's like watching a historic document. Two leads, both rookie actors who would go on to giant careers, just winging it. It can be annoying, but also, so much fun. Yeah, Rain. Only a guy really secure in his own skin would let the director use THAT image of him as a way of pranking his own character. Respect this guy.

WMA remix was hella weird indeed, for the life of me I couldn't guess what vibe they were going for with that sound and visuals - cheesy 1960s space "techno"? He had better stage in full robot costume once - and sound was more clear even with helmet on!

If one of his upcoming dramas somehow manages to squeeze a magazine pictorial out of him, I'll probably faint right then and there from sheer disbelief))) Not to say that his unofficial catwalks aren't already entertaining...

skinny above the anklewhite pants with dark tops and, heavens forbid, black shoes to boot?))) Yeah, not his style at all - the most I can think of were a few ivory/beige suits. Quite a few, actually, but they were all decent, sans occasional oversizing. As someone who used to wear all white through winters - in a climate where it almost never snows lol - I wonder if his reasoning lies in fear of dirt or wardrobe malfunction of scandalous kind...
P.S. You probably don't have fond memories of bright pastel colored pants on kdrama MLs from early last decade fashion rage, are you?)))

@kiara, Did you get to MBC’s BLACK OUT? MBC licensing it to Disney+ made it a no go for me. I have serious availability angst about MBC’s upcoming Han Seok-kyu drama DOUBT.
On the other hand and fyi: A couple of days ago I discovered and got sucked into Youku’s mystery/thriller ESCAPE FROM THE TRILATERAL SLOPES (Free on Youtube). It aired in August with 21 episodes. The hook was that the ML is Guo Qi Lin. You will remember him from JOY OF LIFE where he played Fan Xian’s brother Fan Si Zhe. Although ESCAPE takes place in the Golden Triangle it isn’t (so far through episode 5) about drug running per se but takes place on the periphery. For example episodes 3-5 had to do with gems. GQL is giving a great performance. I am learning more about his background coming from a family where his father is the famous ‘crosstalk’ actor Guo De Gang.

I saw something that said Kim Myung Soo (L) had an... complex(?) relationship with advertisers because when he did promotions people would focus on him and not the products haha
Wow.
It reminded of @Gikata saying how he and the guy from Bad Memory Eraser were like the early days "pretty boy idols" or something like that that paved the way for guys like Cha Eun Woo.

in my girlhood I was a sucker for pretty boys and I have to agree with you based on my experience that most of the time they get their looks from mom. actually there's only one boy whose mom I never met and didn't know what she looked like. but all the other pretty boys that I liked and dated, they resembled their moms.

Where I live there's this superstition that it's "a good fate" for a boy to take after his mother's looks (the stronger the resemblance, the better) and for a girl after her father's respectively. I can see why it works for boys lol, but the second part has always been a bit of mystery... perhaps it means that a girl should be a little tough/not TOO pretty to have a trouble-free life? Anyway, can't relate - must be the reason behind my terrible luck lol)))

I only got her eyebrows and ears LOL. it's a pity because she looks like Sophia Loren and is quite a handsome beauty. I've always admired mothers and daughters who look like twins. My mother and I... we look like strangers haha. Good for you! I can only admire you :)

@ahjummaaa I wish I knew who to ask! No one seems to be aware of true roots of this belief, people just accept it without thinking. My half-brother (same mom) is also very pretty - and honestly looks more like me than her lmao. We'll see how it goes for him in the long run... So far little menace has been gathering literal crowds of admirers since diapers, very idol-style. Gets rather tiring when random people show up asking for photos *rolls eyes* He's only 12 and I'm both anticipating and dreading the havoc he'll 100% start wreaking in his teens...
Actually it's not a good thing in my case because my parents divorced very early and messily and have been on burned ground level of barely civil terms ever since, 3+ decades after. And I just happened to take after mom in terms of face and after dad in terms of personality... the very things they cannot stand in each other now^^
This is my dad's favorite troll skit actually - introducing me to people and making them guess who I am. Let's just say hardly anyone gets it right... and many still don't fully believe even after the reveal lol.

@britney nothing I can recall of - seems like it's not so common here. Most people I know are very similar to that one relative of theirs, often a rather distant
sometimes so much that even parents aren't aware- probably to make big family gatherings more colorful. In middle school I was in the same class with 2 sisters who were nearly identical face-wise (no, they weren't twins but born a year apart) and cartoonishly different in terms of height and physique, but I never met their parents to know which one got the presumably mixed looks)))Ahjummaaa

@Gikata you have quite a life story, lady! oh too bad your cutie brother is a bit too young for me... maybe if I have a daughter... hehe j/k sounds like you're a wise older sister already and can help remind him to keep on the straight and narrow and not be distracted by his fans ^^ as for your family, it must not have been easy growing up between two parents whose animosity is as passionate as the love that originally drew them together. I'm sure they love you dearly and are glad they have you. I wouldn't call dad such a strongly worded name but hopefully he can bit by bit mature into the dad you need him to be and deserve so you can have more peace. My best friends in my youth had parents who were divorced. They were wiser and more mature than I. One girl has met a good guy and has her own family. The peaceful smile on her face tells me everything. I hope the same for you that the struggles you experienced in your childhood will turn into blessings in your future :)

@ahjummaa yeah, a life story of batsh*t makjang... That's why I'm not a fan of said genre - I grew up in one!)))
Wiser older sister? Hardly - I'm just there with popcorn to see the mess unfold. He's got his own parents to raise him, why should I interfere and take away their fun of doing so?^^ And being cute is not so bad after all: if his current dream of being game developer doesn't work out, he can just be a soap opera actor - with that face and 190+ height his doctor gave us prognosis about he'd fit right in there, any actual skill notwithstanding)))
At nearly 35 I think I'm old enough to not need my parents to be mature for my sake lmao - that train has long passed and since there is no time travel machine at hand to fix my admittedly messy childhood, I'm OK with just letting them be. With my temper I wouldn't really want to be a henpecked kid anyway - yall can certainly see how opinionated I am to guess that it would've never go well...
Good to hear about your friends. I don't quite see myself having the normal family with someone that my parents never gave me, but I applaud anyone strong - and lucky - enough to do so.

Microdramas. This is a "Variety" article on the growth, and success, of microdramas, filmed at very low cost and often easily accessible on YouTube. Some of these microdramas have "scenes" as short as 5 minutes; some longer with a total run time of a couple hours or less. They are easy to watch on a phone, on a commute. And, despite often poor production quality, they can bring the heat.
https://variety.com/2024/global/asia/micro-drama-series-china-global-entertainment-disruption-1236157866/
These might be considered examples of "microdramas" now available on Viki that are actually pretty good, if you want to sample:

MAID'S REVENGE (2022)
DESTINED TO MEET YOU (2022)
With short (5-10 minutes or so) episodes and very limited run, easy to watch on a commute. Lots of potential for growth here.

During my first foray, years ago, into the world of Asian dramas, I watched a drama called Skip Beat. I don't remember much about it aside from the premise but not the performances. Years later, I learned that 2 of the guys from Super Junior were the 2 male leads and their voices were dubbed into Japanese. And I *think* but I don't remember for sure but one of the dubbing actors had to be replaced because he didn't capture the right tone and/or vibe of the character.
One thing that confused me about that whole thing was why were Korean actors cast in those roles anyway especially if they were just going to be dubbed over?
Then I learned there were some Japanese fluent or at least Japanese conversationally capable Korean entertainers and I wondered why *they* didn't get the roles.
Since then I've learned a little more about Asian dramas or more specifically korean dramas/entertainers but I still wonder about the language differences and barriers.
In No Way Out: The Roulette, there was a Taiwanese actor but his character spoke predominently english
I haven't seen Eye Love You but wasn't that a Japanese show that featured a korean actor? Did he speak both languages in it?
Lee Se Young's new drama is about her character's relationship with a Japanese man. I think they've been doing promotions in both languages though I could definitely be wrong.
I've never seen the movie but wasn't Snowpiercer directed by the same guy as Parasite?
I just think the collaborations are interesting

I just think that even amongst East Asians, there are huge cultural difference between Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese that it's crazy to make one play another. It's so wrong. You can spot an ABC a mile away in China/Taiwan because just the way they walk, laugh, dress, move their hands is so different from the locals. I was visiting Taiwan and the locals sniffed out my foreignness right away even though I was born in the country. So I don't agree with dramas and movies that think it's okay to have actors from different countries playing each other. Heck, even if they're from different parts of the country it could be inaccurate.

Also, one big giveaway is that facial expressions are so different in Japan. I don't think you can pass off as Japanese unless you actually lived there and was raised in that culture. You can't even control these things. Only a Japanese person can accurately portray a Japanese character. And same goes for every other culture.

Chae Jong-hyeop did speak both Korean and Japanese in Eye Love You - he played a Korean living in Japan.
This all reminds me, though, of having random European actors with a variety of accents playing Americans in kdramas. Of course there are Americans from everywhere who have every sort of accent and it doesn't make them not-American, so that's not disqualifying. It's funny, though, to see the contrast with attitudes toward Asian actors who are from another Asian country or language background or speak with an "outsider" accent.

I cannot tell the difference between Korean regional dialects or accents but natives have STRONG opinions about it. When an actor plays a North Korean, he or she better get the NK dialect correct. I remember reading a story about how Busan people got mad at Jo Yeo Jeong's failure to do a "proper" dialect in LOVERS OF HAEUNDAE even though the script never said she had lived in Busan her entire life. (A mobster could have sent her daughter to school in Seoul.)

I saw part of an interview with CJH who said that his script was given to him written out phonetically in Korean. Because he did not know Japanese, he got the timing of his replies wrong during filming, and they had to work out cues for him so he knew when to reply to his FL and work colleagues.
I think a lot of the actors doing stuff in different countries is just straight cross promotion organised by production companies. It's not about getting one of the actors who are actually bilingual, its about promoting a brand- Where the brand is " SuperJunior' or "CJH"

Recently, I saw there a Rewrite The Stars collab featuring the guy from Bad Prosecutor (and I don't know who the female singer is) and it's lovely. That was my first time hearing him sing.
Then I saw there's an AI video of those same singers had been posted months or weeks earlier? (I have the question mark because I have seen glitches on youtube or twitter that posts the wrong month and years)

For most of my life, Korean food felt like a secret between my mother and I. I lived in one of the largest cities in my country, but until the last -15? years, there were only two Korean restaurants. The Koreans hid in plain site, if they were in hospitality running Japanese restaurants. "Noone likes Korean food". That's even what they said in Korea when we visited.
The rise of Korean food on the worldwide stage has been amazing to watch, but even now in my country it's all about fried chicken and beer, and bbq. When I order japchae they look at me with curiousity and ask me how I know about it.
So I have mixed reactions when I see articles about older Korean food styles. On the one hand, I'm glad, on the other, I feel a bit jealous and possessive. This is my secret knowledge! I don't want other people in my country to find out. Childish, I know.
All this to say, here is a nice little article about Jigae in the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2024/sep/26/korean-soup-recipes-jigae

Oh I have a chance to push Open Thread to 100. Here goes.
The weirdest thing I did lately was trying to restore subtitles on an old VIKI drama. Maybe it was late night. There might have been a few glasses of wine involved. Upshot - I changed the subtitles on Story of Yangxi to Catalan and can't get them back to ENG.
Now you must understand that, before the big f-up, I muttered questions about my ability to chase harem politics for 70 episodes. It resembles a hell that is so much like teaching elementary education.
While I would love to watch in Catalan because I almost did a Master's geology field work project in the Ebro Basin, I must take a pass. Did anyone love this Cdrama??
