Lee Soon-jae’s Dog Knows Everything in new sitcom teaser

The sleuthing begins in the newest teaser for KBS’s upcoming sitcom Dog Knows Everything, following our hero Lee Soon-jae (Family: The Unbreakable Bond) as he finds new purpose as an amateur detective, teaming up with dog Sophie to become the town’s new Sherlock and Watson.

You see, our story’s Lee Soon-jae (played by his namesake Lee Soon-jae) was once the nation’s revered actor. But a series of mishaps embroil him in scandal and we begin the trailer with Soon-jae being pressured to quit. He thus finds himself at Geoje Island to escape public eye. But he’s astonished to meet and hear the neighborhood dog Sophie speak – voiced by Bae Jung-nam (Mr. Sunshine).

Naturally, Soon-jae is in disbelief and Sophie is apologetic, feeling bad about startling Soon-jae. But Soon-jae is soon pestering the dog for information and an annoyed Sophie remarks, “Do I have to reply, just because you asked me to?” The situation is pretty serious, though, with a dead body discovered in the sea. And based on Sophie’s account, Soon-jae informs the police that, “It’s homicide, not suicide. This is a murder case.”

Constable Yeonwoo (Bittersweet Hell) has a hunch that Soon-jae is right, beginning her investigations, and Sophie later tells Soon-jae that someone confessed. Sophie also finds an important clue, revealing that Soon-jae’s son Park Sung-woong (The Killing Vote) witnessed the crime. As the danger grows in the closing sequence, we’re then introduced to the rest of our feisty senior avengers with Kim Yong-gun (Tale of a Good Witch), Yeh Soo-jung (Maestra – Strings of Truth), Im Chae-moo (Want a Taste), and Song Ok-sook(The Goryeo-Khitan War) joining our hero on Geoje Island.

Directed by PD Kim Yoon-jin (Revenge of Others, Handsome Guy and Jung-eum) with writing by Byun Sook-kyung (Nonstop 5), KBS’s Dog Knows Everything will be premiering on September 25 in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.

I see it as coming up on KOCOWA, for what it is worth. That often means Viki ends up with it eventually! I think KOCOWA also has a free tier?

Oooh, thank you Seon-ha!!! Viki probably will pick it up, but if it doesn't, thanks to @zindigo, I now know that on Kocowa (the app or the website), you can watch episodes for free on the "24 hours" section 👍

I just saw a comment on MDL (from 9 days ago, oh my I am slipping) that DNE will be on Kocowa. Not 100 percent given but like you mention there is a good chance DNE will soon appear on Viki’s “Coming Soon” list. Fingers crossed.

You can watch episodes for free in the first 24 hours after they're released. I think they do this for all new shows. I have watched a few shows in their entirety this way.

Viki does seem to pick up most of the shows on Kocowa, which are then available to Viki Plus subscribers. But not always. This one seems like a good possibility though.

On the day of release (or within say 23 hours of release) just go to the "Taste24Hour" link at the top of the screen.

(I know everyone commenting so far knows this... just posting for other beanies who may see it ☺️)

This could be a lot of fun if the elements of the story mesh together well! Loving the cast so I'll definitely give it a try.

If the dog's name is Sophy, why give her a man's voice? What a disappointment! Usually, I consider talking animal shows must watch t.v., but I might have to skip this one for that reason.

P.S. Actually, I've always hated talking animal shows.

P.S.S. If you're wondering about my dislike for talking animal shows, I attach a link that stars a talking horse from my very early youth, where Mr. Ed and his human sidekick were employed by Chrysler automotive and the U.S. government (!?!) to push the purchase of government bonds. You can get a sense of just how boring the show was from this ad featuring the stars. Not that the purchase of government bonds is an exciting topic, but somehow this ad is able to heighten the boringness of government bonds, no mean feat.

P.S.S.S. Mr Ed, the talking horse, had a spinoff, a talking car. That show was even worse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_3jcDKUBtQ

P.S.S.S.S. I'm not so sure its a good thing that a new kdrama is reminding me of awful 1960s U.S. t.v. shows.

I have, but since the talking horse there only appears for what--two episodes?--its just a weird interlude, not the centerpiece of the plot. Jun-ho's character also opens up making buns that look like cute piggies, and they don't appear later in the show either! But food made to look like animals, rather than animals made into food, opens up a whole other can of worms (and yes, as a child, I did have those gummi worms that came in a can.)

I was actually disappointed that we didn't get more talking horse in that show. IIRC, they were filming while the drama was airing and they made a lot of changes as they went (including suddenly cutting off the last few eps) in response to viewer reactions.

At least most of the food scenes were pretty enticing, if not made to look like animals 😉

If anyone in SouthEast Asia region and you have cable subscription to channel KPLUS, this will air 25 SEPT onwards, same day at night local time. With renamed title Who Knows Your Secret.

Kinda strange KBS World does not seem to able buy rights air its own weekday dramas in recent years.
