I'll be the first to say it: This was such a good one. I absolutely loved season 2 more than season 1. As much as I wish there would be a season 3, it would be very hard to beat.

This is a very enjoyable, action packed season... that completely falls apart when you actually stop and think about it. The show never actually bothers to explore, develop or actually answer much of anything. It tells you a lot of stuff, but almost never bothers to show you any of it, and the only thing you really get from that is more questions.

The ML has a big story as to what happened between S1 & 2... but we never get to see it. The most we get is a brutal flashback in which the show quickly kills of his 3 co-workers/ found family from S1. Admittedly, the last scene between Tae-sang & Nawal is arguably the most heartwrenching scene of the entire season, but they really deserved better. I know they only had 7 episodes, and maybe they didn't have time to explore this whole thing. But then again, they did have time to give him amnesia for over half a season while the actually interesting side to his character is played as a mystery... and mostly stays that way because the mantra by which this show works is "tell, don't show".

The FL starts of strong, as she has some cool fight scenes, and the "brain-craving" side to her character because of the Najin is interesting too, but that's sadly not explored enough... And then the show proceeds to drop this storyline completely after episode 3. So for most of the season she doesn't really have any purpose other than being a love interest, but at least she can fight... Until the show takes her powers away and then proceeds to turn her into a damsel in distress in the finale. I kept waiting for her to rescue herself, or literally anything, but this never happens. Also, I kept waiting for both super-powered leads to have a fight scene together, but that just never happens either. They fight seperately, they fight towards each other, but for some reason they never fight together.

Seung-jo is kind of interesting. But sadly, most of the interesting things happen off-screen. Apparently Jang & Seung-jo had a rather interesting dynamic before the amnesia thing... that we literally see nothing of outside of a single flashback in the finale. Again, the mantra here is "tell, don't show".

There's also a whole thing of Jun-taek's grandson kinda betraying Jang... But that's underdeveloped and never properly explained. Heck, the show just leaves him in a coma for half a season until they bring him back in the finale where they give you a single flashback, which just leaves you with more questions.

Maeda... Well, the only thing that can really be said here is how the show continued to waste Claudia Kim, who's actually very good in the role.

So, when everything is underdeveloped, what's left? Well, not much. The ML & FL don't have much purpose outside of fighting the villains because everything from S1 that was connected to them (like friends & family) is gone now, and all their supposed new connections are, to nobody's, underdeveloped. So all that's left is the romance, but I...

So all that's left is the romance, but I don't think the show ever fully succeeded at the epic romance angle either. Park Seo-joon & Han So-hee are absolutely phenomenal here though and pretty much carry the entire season on their backs.

So, what is the purpose of this season? Well, there is none. Most big villains are still out there, and nobody really gets much of an ending either. Our leads get an open ending, which I guess is hopeful... But then we get an after-credits scene which basically promises the end of the human race as we know it. So, is this the ending? Or do they want a third season? I can't believe they might want a third season when the second season already served no real purpose. Sigh.

I see this as more of a second part/continuation rather than a fully fleshed out second season. While I enjoyed some aspects of this part, I believe that so much potential was wasted and that the pacing was off. The final credit teases at another season. Is that what the writers are hoping for, so much so that they let this season end with so many questions unanswered and plot lines dropped? As other Beanies mentioned, what about the backstory of Seung-jo and Tae-sang (Ho-jae)?

I would have liked to know how much the Najin experiments had evolved over the decades. We can see some developments (such as the mysterious formula which can neutralize the najin for twenty four hours). What is the purpose of these continued experiments this season? Has that purpose evolved from the first season? Does the company want to offer its services to a select elite? How exactly have the experiments on people changed from previous experiments?

Did Lady Maeda want to create an evolved human race, not held down by emotions? Was that her goal? Or was it just personal?

In contrast to his "mother," the end credit scene implies that Seung-jo wants to bring about his own version of the apocalypse.

I'm not fond of the idea of another season. I would have appreciated a more-tightly written story (which could have combined the episode count of both seasons).

Also, I wonder how Chae-ok and Tae-sang never crossed paths over the decades. I guess she was really good at staying under the radar. He believed she was dead, but she knew he was still alive. Did she not keep tabs on him every now and then? I guess not.

I really wish we could have seen more of what happened in the intervening years between the end of season one and the beginning of season two.

Also, does anyone have any theories as to why removing the najin from a person's brain results in memory loss and re-infecting a person results in the immediate recovery of said memories? Maybe you could argue that removing the creature from the brain results in some damage, but then how would re-infection restore the damage? Maybe its because the worm has healing properties? Did I just answer my own questions, lol? What does everyone else think?
