Kim Hye-yoon, Park Solomon

Kim Hye-yoon (Lovely Runner) is the next to be courted for Human Starting Today (roughly translated), putting time-traveling aside to potentially star as our quirky gumiho in the fantasy rom-com. With Park Solomon (a.k.a. Lomon)(Branding in Seongsu) also on the casting table, production is in discussions to air on SBS with PD Kim Jung-kwon (Love to Hate You) leading the team alongside writers Park Chan-young and Jo Ah-young. Speaking of supernaturals, Kim Sun-ho (The Tyrant) is reviewing an offer to turn artist for the period mystery Delusion (roughly translated) in a possible reunion with Start-Up co-star Suzy (Doona). Featuring a vampire heroine who takes us through 1935 Gyeongseong and 1800 Shanghai, the series is in the early stages with filmmaker Han Jae-rim (The 8 Show) at the helm. [News1]

The first poster and teaser for Netflix’s new movie Officer Black Belt have come in kicking and punching with a team-up between Kim Woo-bin (Black Knight) and Kim Sung-kyun (Moving) to help keep baddies in line. The action-comedy launches on September 13 with writing and directing by filmmaker Kim Joo-hwan (Bloodhounds, Midnight Runners). [Sports Donga]
It’s a busy season for promos on Netflix as they prepare for the mystery-suspense The Frog as well. Releasing a new bundle of stills ahead of next week’s premiere, the 8-episode thriller will have Kim Yoon-seok (Noryang: Deadly Sea), Yoon Kye-sang (The Kidnapping Day), Go Min-shi (Sweet Home 3), and Lee Jung-eun (Miss Night and Day) hopping to our screens on August 23. With tvN’s rom-com No Gain No Love also beginning in about a week on August 26, TVING announced news that the spin-off The CEO’s Menu (previously CEO Menu) will be airing later this year. In the original series, chaebol Lee Sang-yi (My Demon) and racy webnovelist Han Ji-hyun (Cheer Up) take on supporting roles. In what sounds like a story within a story setup, Han’s book will then form the basis for the spin-off with Lee and Han as our main leads. [Osen]

Over on KBS, Nonsense released stills from the comedy’s first script reading with our central hero Lee Soon-jae (Family: The Unbreakable Bond) leading the pack. With a large and talented ensemble cast, it’s nice to see many familiar faces and why hello Nam Yoon-soo (Today’s Webtoon), it’s been far too long. A special mention for Bae Jung-nam (Mr. Sunshine) as well, giving voice to our dog Sophie who only Lee can understand. The sitcom will be broadcasting in September. [Sports Chosun]

1. Is KHY the new PMY for generic romcoms with super tall guys? I like Lomon but he was better in his child actor days especially as the villain in Lookout. More importantly where is AOUD 2? Won't it take almost a year to film that?
2. When they cast HSH and RJY it was a 100% visual match with the webtoon. Then came Suzy who also matches the female lead vibe and visual but KSH? How does someone replace RJY with KSH? Its not the same vibe or aura. LJW would have made more sense as the male lead for this.
3. Blonde KWB is reason enough to watch. Can't be worse than Black Knight right?

Looks like the August launch of multiple dramas will stretch into autumn so my Bean count is going to be a respectable number after all 💪🏾. I was worried because I have watched a lot of films, older dramas, J dramas and even variety to fill the months of tumbleweed on the K drama light and fluffy watchlist.

I think I'll watch Nonsense. It's been a long time since I last watched a pure comedy. I hope this one is good.
Being released in KBS means that maybe Kocowa+ has the distribution rights.

1) There is Kim Hye-Yoon, so it's a yes! Park Solomon is a little bit green but not bad. He's only 1m83, it will change from the 1m88-1m90 she was used to before :p

2) Suzy in vampire seems legit. KSH is very versatil.

3) It sounds like D.P. but in comedy. A person with no experience has to catch people who didn't respect the conditions of their liberty.

5) It's kinda crazy they didn't wait for the ratings of the first show before deciding to make a spin-off.

I'm so ready for another quirky gumiho drama!! And the promo for Officer Blackbelt looks really fun. Definitely looking forward to the premiere of Nonsense.

I like the Gumiho role for Kim Hye Yoon. She fits the description better, besides she hasn't played a completely vain, look/wealth obsessed character before. Lomon was good in Branding in Seongsu so this works well. Besides its a 12 episode short drama. If the details are correct then she'll have entire 2025 open to pick a new project or something different after this. Seems like a good project. I just hope the script is good.

Nonsense / Dog Knows Everything is definitely on my watch list. I'm excited about a story with seniors. Plus Nam Yoon Soo!

1. It'll be hard to be a better gumiho than Shin Mina but a different gumiho? You've got my attention!
2.Kim Sun-ho is back! And getting offers! Congrats to him (and me).
3. I'm a black belt in TKD so I'm in for this one! I love me some kicking a** fun!
4. So many good names attached to this one so I'll hop on over to see what it's about.
5. Not having seen the original, I'll give this one a try and hope for it to be good. A story within a story? Sounds interesting.
6. Nonsense? I hope it's good nonsense! The cast says try it you'll like it so I will.

wrt #1 - i agree Miho/Shin Mina is the ultimate gumiho, tho Kim Hye Yoon is awfully cute and she has dimples, too!

today, it was sunny but suddenly raindrops started falling - my daughter and i started saying "miho is crying!" and we sang Doo be doo be doo raffa, doo be doo be doo be doo RAFFA...
