- JTBC confirmed casting for the period comedy Sales of Virtue, starring Kim So-yeon (Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938), Kim Sung-ryung (Kill Heel), Kim Sun-young (Queen of Divorce), and Lee Se-hee (Bad Prosecutor) as our sales ladies quartet, marketing racy products door-to-door. Adapted from the 2016 British series Brief Encounters, the Korean remake takes us to a small town in the early 1990s where secretive cop Yeon Woo-jin (Nothing Uncovered) gets embroiled in their cheeky sales shenanigans. - Park Bo-young (Daily Dose of Sunshine) is reviewing an offer for a new series called Unknown Seoul (roughly translated). If Park accepts, she’ll be playing twin sisters with one living in Seoul while the other lives in their rural hometown. But the two end up swapping lifestyles, when they’re suddenly met with a change in circumstances. [10 AsiaNewsen]
- Over on Coupang Play, the pumpkin carriage delivered the first poster for the upcoming Cinderella at 2AM. But although Shin Hyun-bin (Tell Me That You Love Me) is forsaking her glass slipper, chaebol prince Moon Sang-min (Wedding Impossible) wants to fulfill their fairy tale dream. Starting August 24 – streaming on Viki and Viu internationally – we’ll be following the rom-com’s journey to their happily-ever-after in the weekend slot. [MBC]
- In contrast, MBC takes us down a muddling road with the newest poster and teaser for the crime-mystery Black Out. Starring Byun Yo-han (Uncle Samsik), Go Joon (Cheat on Me If You Can), Go Bo-kyul (The Heavenly Idol), and Kim Bora (Like Flowers in Sand), the drama premieres on August 16 with filmmaker Byun Young-joo (Helpless) and writer Seo Joo-yeon (Rescue Me 2) leading production. - LG’s U+ Mobile TV announced their main lineup for Friendly Rivalry, with Hyeri (May I Help You) joined by Jung Soo-bin (Chief Detective 1958), Kang Hye-won (Boyhood), and Oh Woo-ri (A Killer Paradox) in the mystery-thriller and webtoon adaptation. Expected to release in early 2025, production has filmmaker Kim Tae-hee (Misaeng: Prequel) at the helm and also co-writing the scripts with Mi Ye-ji (Wonderland). [MBC]
- The cute promos continue on tvN for Love Next Door, with Jung Hae-in (D.P. 2) and Jung So-min (Alchemy of Souls) growing from students to adults in the new bundle of stills. In what will hopefully be a squee-worthy tale as romance starts to blossom between our main pair, the rom-com will be sweetening our weekends starting August 17, following The Auditors. [MBC]

Kinda looking forward to see what they did with CINDERELLA AT 2AM (lol at the pumpkin carriage reference @tccolb 😆), because Park So Jin will also be part of this! I’d love to see her in a new role.
First time I hear of UNKNOWN SEOUL, which sounds fun! Whoever ends up with the FL’s role might have a blast playing two characters 😂 And Park Bo Young is a delight, I’m convinced this will be good if she accepts!
SALES OF VIRTUE is also definitely on my list. The 1990 settings sounds really fun, I’m so looking forward to the styling, clothes, makeup 🤩 I hope they make it laugh out loud fun instead of cringy…!
And naturally giddily awaiting MOM’S FRIEND’S SON. 🥳

1. The actress bill for this drama is on point. I can't say for Lee Se-hee but the other 3...daebak!
2. That's a new glass slipper twist. I've not exactly seen one since Ruby Ring.
3. The poster is lovely.
4. I'm running far away from this one. Save Me's writer? Nah!
6. They should have just casted younger selves instead.

Sales of Virtue is on my list. I love the actresses Kim So Yeon and Kim Sun Young plus Yeon Woo Jin getting caught up in their shenanigans.
While Byun Yo Han's Black Out looks interesting.

I am looking forward to see Sales of Virtue and I hope it will be really funny. I like seeing female friendship instead of rivalry.
I am tired of childhood friends turning lovers trope but I will watch Love Next Door. I like the cast.
I wanted to watch Black Out, until I guessed the culprit just reading the synopsis. I searched a little to see if I was right and I was. Mystery is killed. I won`t watch.

You know Blackout is going to be gritty because you can actually see Byun Yo-han’s pores in that poster hahaha!
Like everyone, I’m excited for Mom’s Friend’s Son, and I hope Park Bo-young accepts that twin drama - I bet she could pull off a dual role well.

Gotta give Sales of Virtue a try for at least the uncommon plot. The casting seems solid too.
Gonna have to pass on Cinderella at 2 AM and seeing Moon Sang Min in another chaebol role.
Black Out is one I'm looking forward to. Dark and mysterious crime thriller and actors I haven't seen in a while, gimme!
