At first I thought this was similar to "Squid Game" minus the violence in the first three episodes, but then later I learnt that the author of "The 8 show" wrote this comic way before SG was developed/produced. It had a interesting commentary on the socio-economic disparities and human behaviour, but as the show went on the violence increased and the last two episodes were a total miss. I made the mistake of watching this before sleep and was left disturbed by certain graphic scenes in the final episode. The game,its rule and the action plus reaction of the players will keep you invested although the final rule/goal might be easily predictable.

To conclude, this was better than SG for me and if you can stomach all the gory bits then go for it.

Since I'm American, sometimes I think I can or will be desensitized to sex or violence onscreen but why when it shows up in kdramas, is it almost ALWAYS so uncomfortable?! Seriously. It almost always feels weird or forced (to me).

Maybe it's supposed to feel that way but yeah, it's so weird to me haha

watched it for Ryu Joon Yeol. didn't like it - too mean, violent, gory. set reminiscent of Squid Games, not sure why the playground/childlike set... not for me, but you might like it.

Have I ever been so underwhelmed haha. I almost have to laugh cause wow.

I don't even know what to say. One thing that came to mind was I think I would've chosen Squid Game over The 8 Game and I prefer the show Squid Game over The 8 Show.
