Premiere Watch: Chicken Nugget

Time slot: Friday (single drop)
Broadcaster: Netflix
Genre: Comedy, fantasy, mystery
Episode count: 10

Reasons to watch: Looking for a premise you haven’t heard of before? Here’s the pitch: Turn Kim Yoo-jung into a bite-size piece of chicken, have her father (Ryu Seung-ryong) and the intern-with-a-crush (Ahn Jae-hong) try to save her — oh, and have the acclaimed film director Lee Byung-heon write and direct it. Complete disaster? Absurdist genius? Tune in this Friday as we find out.

TL;DR: Kim Yoo-jung turns into a chicken nugget and Ryu Seung-ryong and Ahn Jae-hong must save her. Yes, you read that correctly.

I googled CHICKEN NUGGET to see when the series would drop and it directed me to BEST CHICKEN, a totally different series (which I did enjoy.)

I am so hoping this does not disappoint. But if it does we have no one to blame but ourselves for thinking it would make sense and maintain a coherent story when the idea of it sounds so ridiculous.

Why does it have to make sense? I'm hoping its going to be surreal and absurd. I'll be disappointed if its Not as ridiculous as it sounds.

I have a habit of baptizing dramas when I first learn of them. This drama has been “CHICKEN MCNUGGET since the beginning.
(I lived in NYC for almost 8 years so JTBC’s DOCTOR SLUMP for me since I first heard of it has been: DOCTOR SHLUMP.) New Yorkers will get it. (Lol, I think/hope).
Anyway, 10 episodes available on Netflix. I commit to watch episode one of Netflix’s CHICKEN NUGGET and will decide after that whether to continue.

Haha. Except as I understand it (not watching Dr Slump), PHS’s character was supposed to be quite natty!

The absolute ONLY reason I would consider watching this is because of the guy from Moving (Ryu Seung Ryong). This premise is SOOOO weird haha but because that actor chose to take part, it seems like there must be more to it.

I just hope this is funny. 10 episodes seem a bit too long for the story. I like the actors and I believe in their comedic timing.

Friday Night of Doom. Or Indigestion.

And I'll be having chicken for dinner. Didn't really plan it that way, that's just how my grocery run turned out.

Does single drop mean what I think it means- all episodes available at once??? It's still Thursday where I am so I can see it!

Yes Netflix quite often make a new drama bingeable by dropping it all on the same day, which is great for those of us who prefer to binge watch. We also usually get a hangout so we get the best of both worlds to binge and still have beanies to discuss it with.

Oh wow...I wasn't expecting 30 minute episodes!! Only 5 hours total. This bodes well, IMO!

OMG these jingles are going to be in my head for days. After the first three, it's funny, but real, real weird, folks. The beginning of episode three had me in especial stitches, I must admit. Amusing cameos, too.

No spoilers but episode 1 was STRANGE, strange even by strange K-drama standards. But we've got the director of both Extreme Job and Melo It My Nature, so how could I let the idea of 'strange' stand in my way of watching?
