Live Your Own Life: Episodes 32-33 (Drama Highlights)

There’s some movement on the chaebol side this week with clear lines being drawn for the impending succession war. After learning that his aunt imprisoned Halmeoni and his uncle might’ve killed his parents, Tae-ho has it out with Tae-min who declares them no longer family. That’s fine by Tae-ho who is still reeling from all his so-called family has done. He takes refuge in Hyo-shim, although he doesn’t share what’s going on with her. He may not be ready to share his messy family shenanigans, but he is ready to commit and wants to eventually marry her. He even takes her to see his parents’ portraits and introduces her to them. The couple is in the happy, early dating stage and aren’t careful enough about hiding their relationship at the gym. In no time, Hyo-shim’s coworkers discover the relationship, so now her job could be at stake. Yikes.

Things are still shaky in Hyo-shim’s family, but her mom might finally be flirting with turning a corner. After major fights with both Hyo-shim and Hyo-do (who breaks the news of his surprise marriage), she starts acting more independent and less insufferable. But it looks like she wants to start a café, and that requires money. So now I’m worried. Meanwhile, Hyo-do panics when his dreams of living rich are threatened. (Like mother, like son.) To his horror, Tae-hee announces she’s cutting ties with her family. Sook-hyang, not exactly the loving mother type, is all for it; it’s Mr. Yeom, the ever-loyal lackey, who is most distressed. That leads me to wonder… Could he be Tae-hee’s birth father? He’s suspiciously protective and caring toward her, and he and Sook-hyang are very close. I would not be shocked at all to find out they’ve had an affair.

Amidst all the family drama on both sides, Halmeoni remains a calm, stable presence. While Hyo-shim’s mom is vehemently (and baselessly) opposed to her daughter dating, Halmeoni is thrilled to know Tae-ho is with the kind Hyo-shim. With everything heating up on the company side, though, she’s worried about the kids and plans her comeback. What she doesn’t know is that it might be her other grandson she’s fighting: Tae-min is en route to becoming chairman within the year since his father wants to retire. Before making any major moves, Halmeoni decides it’s finally time to reunite with Tae-ho. When he stops by the apartment to see Hyo-shim’s mom, she reveals herself. Now maybe we’ll get some action in this company battle.

Su-gyeong’s wardrobe is changing again (no longer all black) and I was delighted to see the fire in her eyes as she stood up to Tae-min and refused the ‘deal’ that he offered. Followed by the tears in her eyes as she talked to her MIL. Followed by Tae-min standing up to his mother- who is having serious trouble with his dad. One of the best things about this drama is watching a supposedly all-powerful Chaebol family that is in serious trouble.

We now know that Tae-hui’s wicked mom had actually tried to prostitute her for the sake of a business deal which has now fallen through because of Tae-hui’s marriage to Hyo-do. This woman is irredeemable. I have a feeling that she knew something when she tried to stop her husband from driving after his brother three years ago.

One of the funnier scenes was the two moms both showing up at the same to berate Hyo-do for marrying Tae-hui and then calling out each other for not raising their children right- totally deserved in both cases. Tae-hui somehow turned out (mostly) OK in spite of her mom, maybe because she had a decent Oppa.

Grandma is preparing to make a move. And she meets Tae-ho at the end of episode 33. This is sooner than I expected but very welcome. Will Tae-ho finally grow up and stop acting like a loose cannon? Hyo-shim deserves better than this man-child but maybe knowing that his grandmother is not dead will help get himself under control.

Hyo-shim’s mom is going to purchase a café? How? This does not look good.

A few episodes ago Ru-bi spoke the truth to her aunt, this week it was her aunt’s turn to explain the truth to Ru-bi: Hyo-shim has too much empathy but Ru-bi has too little which is why Ru-bi has no friends. What really drives Ru-bi to study so hard is that this is how she obtains recognition. Maybe this is not such a bad thing? But Hyo-shim is right, of course.

The mystery of what happened three years ago has now come front and center. That, and not Hyo-shim, is the reason why Tae-min and Tae-ho actually had a fistfight. The thing is that it actually still is a mystery and my hypothesis here is that our Lady Macbeth wannabe was responsible and that her husband actually was trying to stop it but failed and so feels responsible for it. Just a conjecture, of course. But the fact that it is really still a mystery is tragic as that is what has turned the cousins against each other.

Which leaves me wondering what will happen to Tae-min: A truly tragic figure in the Shakespearean sense.

He wants that footage of his father's car following the car of Taeho's parents car on the day of the accident deleted. So far he bought just the silence by marrying the daughter of the owner of the TV station which owns the footage. Now Taemin highers the offer to get rid off it completely.

Except that to Su-gyeong the better deal was anything but a better deal, in fact it was the opposite. Just as Su-gyeong did not understand Tae-min and accepted his proposal thinking that she could build from there only to discover that he was not as easily won over as she had hoped now it is Tae-min who did not understand her- and has now run up against a fundamental truth about her. He should have listened to her when she said she wanted a real marriage but given his parents and his fantasies about Hyo-shim he may not really have understood what that meant. Permission to have an affair is the opposite of what she meant. Now he has learned something important about his wife.
Fights are actually necessary to build a real relationship- that is how a spouse finds out what is really truly important to their partner. Odd though it may seem this is actually the beginning for them as a couple. One of the most important skills in a marriage is learning how to fight fairly- and their encounter actually fit into the rules for that.

Ha, I was also sort of enjoying how Dragon Mom's plans (and world) are falling apart. 😁 And I also think that the one responsible for the accident is actually Dragon Mom.

Taemin is so.... ARTISTIC! 😆 I mean he is totally not realistic and still living in his dreams (and dramas)... and brooding in darkness in his office (prettily, of course).

Hyodo needs to start working really hard to deserve our Taehee!

I have actually hugely enjoyed seeing Dragon Mom's discomfiture. I would enjoy it more if I did not worry about the impact on Tae-min. I worry less about Tae-hui- she is doing a good job of dealing with her mom.

Hyo-do really does need to step up his game- a lot.

Tae-min is exceptionally realistic about business and the company- and totally unrealistic otherwise. An artist should be skilled, and he knows his corporate tools well- he has the soul of an artist- and simply needs to understand that he is in the position to apply those very qualities to the best possible use as the leader of his company.

Even as we despair over his despairing at his situation because he is unable to see his situation objectively, we can also understand that what we are seeing is consistent with the behavior of an artist. This is exactly how an artist would behave in this situation. So, there he is: Brooding in the dark just as we would expect from an artist.

The way that his marriage happened just makes it worse, of course. Even though he is married to someone who is perfect for him that does not mean he can see it yet- and who knows what it will take for him to finally see it and will he be able to deal with his wife's resentment when he does- because she is being hurt now and his offer of a new 'deal' actually made things worse.

Would love to see that side of him emerge, if only taking over his aunt [family] gallery or taking up painting as a hobby to balance out his stressful life. but I don't want to see him give up TaeSan Group and become hermit artist.

Earlier I was looking at photos on Im Ju Eun's ig page and realized that poor TM's bedroom has been feminized! My poor TM. 😥 New sheets/bed covers with Flowers (ugh). New "art" which isn't real art - flower prints, etc. Earlier I saw something that indicates she brough in all of her "purple colored" makeup (I assume PPL) on TM's chest of drawers.

If writer/stylists are doing this to him/with her - reconciliation, if it even happens, will be not happen any time soon.

I have a feeling that she knew something when she tried to stop her husband from driving after his brother three years ago.. . . . my hypothesis here is that our Lady Macbeth wannabe was responsible and that her husband actually was trying to stop it but failed and so feels responsible for it. Just a conjecture, of course.

The problem with conjecturing at this point is that it looks like the Daegwallyeong Pass story has changed.

Originally, the dash-cam footage was supposedly important - so I'm not sure how it would show anything from the accident - unless it was Dragon mom or Yeom tinkering with the car ahead of time? But why would Grandmama suppress that information?

Moreover, if Chairman knew his wife had done something, then all of his dialogue with her since the beginning of the drama is not simply ambiguous, but contradictory. There should have been at least "I know what you did" or "this is all your doing". Moreover, early in the drama, Chairman told TM that Grandmama thinks that he and his wife were somehow involved in the accident, but he doesn't understand why.

At one point, I began to collect some of the various clues/hints (and presumably some are red herrings) to see if the puzzle pieces would begin to fit. But i've now concluded that the writer is pretty casual about "facts" (for instance, the date of the accident keeps changing) and is focused on dramatic results, whether they make sense or not.

For the record, I have two different thoughts. One: it somehow involves Tae Hee - the KBS relationship chart has a strange connecting line between her and TH's father.

But I'm more inclined to believe that Chairman discovered his wife's US shell companies (or other nefarious deeds) and intended to tell his brother about them.

I don't like Shakespearean tragedies!

Fortunately, I do not believe that writer-nim intends to write a Shakespearean tragedy- It is just Tae-min who presently fits into that mode.

I totally agree with you about the writer's inconsistency. Perhaps I should have qualified my conjectures by starting with the lines "Based upon what we have most recently seen" because there have obviously been shifts in the back story just as you said.

For the same reason I am not sure that we can trust the KBS relationship chart either. We are now two thirds of the way through this story, and I have yet to see anything that would connect Tae-hui to our FL's father and no dramatic reason why there would be one. But you are no wrong to point it out either- who knows what rabbit our writer-nim might pull out of a hat?

I guess I wasn't very clear. The "dotted line" on the KBS character chart was between Tae Hee and her UNCLE (Tae Ho's father NOT FL's father). There is a word or phrase on the dotted line (?), but it is in "Hanja" (I think I am correct), not Hangul, so my translator doesn't work.

thanks for your assurance that you don't believe the writer intends to write TM as Shakespearean tragedy - I truly appreciate your long history and knowledge of weekenders and frankly may have given up on this drama if not for your qualified/conditional thoughts. 😊

I can’t believe I’m feeling sorry for a 2nd Gen chaebol but Taemin isn’t rude, vile and as class conscious. His ‘wife’ has behaved abominably toward Hyoshim. She was obnoxious, condescending, cruel and shrieked with such venom at her. She isn’t a good person.

No way is Yeom going to remove his own [daughter?] from the family registry - HE should go to TM and tell him what happened to baby sis.

Also. I should have also included the 'remove her from the family registry' idea as another legal fantasy from this writer. The Republic of Korea is not Joseon and birth records are not so easily changed.

By standing up to him and firmly rejecting his new deal Su-gyeong has made it impossible for Tae-min to ignore her. She has his attention now even if it is for the wrong reasons (but at least she has his attention).

It would not be possible for Mr. Yeom to simply file for an annulment on Tae-hui's behalf without first having gone to court and having her declared mentally incompetent so that he or our Lady MacBeth wannabe can be appointed her guardian. Chaebols may have a lot of ability to pull strings, but such a proceeding would involve the judges examining her and that scheme would fall apart very quickly once Tae-hui began to answer questions.

Of course, just as this writer is seemingly oblivious to the principles of corporate governance, writer-nim is also probably perfectly capable of ignoring basic fundamental principles of law.

In any case, an annulment- which is really fairly rare- would no longer solve the problem as the family that our Dragon Lady wannabe wanted to sell Tae-hui to is now aware of the situation. (I say Dragon Lady wannabe because she simply is not smart enough to be a true Dragon Lady)

That is what makes what Tae-hui did such a brilliant move- she is way smarter than her mother. Tae-hui is actually smart enough to be a Dragon Lady and Hyo-do's ego is going to take a hit when he realizes that he will always play second fiddle to her.

I agree with you - but tae Hee is using him as well, and he has no clue.

I think that's where they are headed. The inevitable break-up/misunderstanding/ disillusion with each other and then reconciliation at the very end with probable future solidly in place. It's a rather endearing story arc with none of the stress we have with some of the other relationships.

I'm just glad we aren't dealing with the TRHC maknae couple who - at the end - were still hiding their relationship (after, what? 3 years??) from their respective families. In LYOL, both of the most miserable mothers in [my limited] kdrama history are very aware,

Yes, one of the most frustrating truncated story arcs in the previous weekender- the one that I distinctly remember choosing to forget- was the stupidly truncated story of the maknaes.

1

They are both using each other, so it wouldn't be fair for Taehee to blame him. She dragged him into her messy family dynamics, with no real warning, and he accepted the proposal because he had delusions that marrying into a chaebol family was a shortcut to success. There is definitely an undercurrent of caring in the relationship, but none of them married for that reason. I think it's important that she be disinherited, or at least appear to be, for Hyodo to decide he loves her for herself and not her status and potential connections. Otherwise, we the audience, will never accept that relationship as genuine.

Oh, and there may be a baby in the making, just not the one Dragon Mom wants. 😁

And the winner is: Jillian who said 36/37

when grandmama went to the mausoleum in episode 32, I knew my guess was way off. i'm fed up with grandma now. she was all worried about TM and Su-kyung's wedding and now she still wants to stay in the shadows and let TV Live get power over Taesan group??? 😊

If someone looks objectively without any background information, except for the elder brother, the Lee clan could be classified as a family of gold diggers:
Hyodo is the most obvious - - he has always followed the easy, lazy path to wealth. And he hit the jackpot with Taehee.
His mother has been gold mining off everyone in the family for decades.
Hyo-joon is not that much better. He has been studying (unemployed) for 10 years; living off his sister. And in his relationship with Mi-Rim, who has a law license and greater earnings potential than him, puts him in the dependent role.
Even her gym peers eye Hyo Sim in this category. Even though HS has pushed back on TH gifts, she is still accepting most of his largeness.

I am totally enjoying the full speed ahead pacing. Chaebol wars with over the top dramatic music? Go ahead! I totally teared up in that last scene when grandma finally calls Tae Ho; it was even more moving than I thought it would be. Loved Hyo Shim giving Rubi a piece of her mind (and how lovely and glowing Hyo Shim looks in Episode 33). Loved how grandma is so relieved and thankful that Hyo Shim and Tae Ho are dating. At least they have one person who approves (and to be honest, probably the most important person). I'm still loving all the Tae Ho and Hyo Shim scenes, especially when she waiting eagerly to greet him and place that scarf around his neck. And how Tae Ho continues to be emotionally intelligent around Hyo Shim and tries to encourage her to see her to visit her mum as he knows her mum's disapproval/behaviour is niggling at her. There is no doubt that they are totally head over heels in love with one another and emotionally care and support one another (even if at the moment, he understandibly does not want to get her involved in the whole kidnap/forced imprisonment/possible murder saga in his family).

Meanwhile Tae Min seems to be moving deeper into baddie territory. He was always on the wrong end of grey for me, but I had hoped he would eventually realise that continuing to cover up criminal acts with bribery etc. (by the way, if you watched the whole thing properly, it was Tae Min who has actively bribed the reporter and ex police chief, not his cousin) is not doing himself, the company nor frankly, his dad any good. His dad is clearly breaking down from the guilt that is eating him alive and he did literally say he "caused the death of his little brother" to his wife. So he is not innocent even if, as we suspect, he may not have been the mastermind of the criminal acts, he was complicit in them all. I mean, who on earth thinks it's okay to drug and lock up your own mum for 3 years? Not to mention Tae Min has still not apologised to Hyo Shim for that forced kiss (despite her demanding an apology) nor accepted that she does not like him (despite her telling him and literally screaming at him that he doesn't really listen to a word she says and it's all about him talking AT her) and would never have gotten his dream marriage with her anyway. His behaviour to his wife is also unbelievable. Whatever the circumstances of their marriage, being downright rude and antagonistic towards her is not the way forward. If he cannot be kind, he can at least be civil. If he is not careful, she might actually totally turn against him in the chaebol war purely out of resentment. So, basically, although some might feel sorry for Tae Min, he is not helping himself by making all the wrong choices. Sigh.

In the flashback scene we saw her trying to stop Tae-min's dad from going after his brother and actually being pushed to the ground followed by TM's dad driving off in a hurry. So, she was not driving the car but clearly knew what was going on.

My hypothesis is that we are once again looking at the good old "carefully cut brake line so it fails at the right moment" sabotage trope here. The one that in real life is actually impossible to accomplish and should be a true facepalm moment for anyone watching who has a brain (see ANGEL'S LAST MISSION for an example of this idiotic trope).

Dad's guilt is in failing to stop the accident.

That is a sound premise, which makes the toll gate tape meaningless as a piece of evidence on the cause of the actual crash. Unless there is video evidence of Drunk Dad ramming his brother off the road, this major drama point lacks any real weight.

Or maybe it is important. But TM is adamant that his father would never have done that- and it is TM who would have reason to be suspicious with this further information. So maybe Mommy Dearest had arranged for someone to hit the car? What seemed clear to me from the flashback is that Drunk Dad was not intent on murder when he came out of the house with his wife trying to stop him.

@quirkycase, thanks for the highlights !
The show is finally moving the story along after a glacial first half.
Poor Soo Kyung ! Crying in front of the Dragon Lady Madam Jang. !
Tae-min has forsaken her (feels like a historical when the woman is banished to her house) in all matters . Oddly enough he ups the ante and offers her two Taesan Corp subsidiaries in an effort to suppress info regarding the death of his aunt and uncle.
Did he come to this on his own ? Does Mr Yeom approve 😉?
Hyo-do may cause Madam Jang to have a stroke if he continues to call.
Mrs. Lee went easy on Tae-hee , other than accusing her of seducing Hyo-do.
I wish the chicken shop scuffle had included some hair pulling. Madam Jang’s coat was just begging to have some chili sauce splattered on it.
The Kang boys finally trade blows !!
What is up with Mi Rim ?! That couple’s arc is muddled .
A lot of cohabitation going on . Will there be a baby Kang before the show ends ?
The gym worker that wants to rat HS out to the boss. Aigoo. Tae-Ho has always been haphazard in regards to HS and her work environment at the gym.
Preview shows RuBi and Tae-Ho talking, I guess her oppa is a thing of the past ?

We have seen more ridiculous things than this even in a hit weekender. Like not one but two amnesia arcs in GENTLEMAN AND YOUNG LADY which was highly successful in the ratings.

1

I knooow, though I dropped Gentleman.

1

The Landlady has been occasionally talking to her son on the phone. But the son's neglect is frankly inexcusable. Maybe this was intended to be a contrast to Hyo-shim?

Few things have made me more angry in this show than Tae-ho's cavalier attitude towards Hyo-shim's job. It is the one thing that truly most demonstrates his immaturity. Being in love is no excuse for this.

I am sure that Tae-min did not consult Mr. Yeom who would have taken the matter straight to his mom.

In a sense Tae-hui did seduce Hyo-do- who was quite willing to be seduced.

If Su-gyeong's marriage to Tae-min was her way of facilitating the takeover of Taesan by her father, she would have jumped at Tae-min's offer as a good start. Instead, she was angry and deeply hurt- which is why she was crying in front of her MIL. That may have been the most shocking moment in this weekend's episodes: I never that we would see Su-gyeong reduced to tears. It may be that deep down she is actually much more like Tae-min than we thought: Tough on the outside but a dreamer on the inside. The biggest shame in this whole story is that this husband and wife do not see each other as they really are. But maybe this fight between the two of them is a start.

How did we not get hair pulling? The writer missed an opportunity but maybe it is just as well.

Hyo-do giving our Lady MacBeth wannabe a stroke would probably be the first truly helpful thing he has ever done.

I suspect that we will get major clarification of the story of Mi-rim and Hyo-jun this next weekend.

I was thinking that Ru-bi's Oppa may indeed be in the past. Being chased around the park by her dad probably did not increase his ardor, especially because Ru-bi was drawing some clear lines with him.

To be fair, does Tae Ho really understand that the Gym has a rule against members dating the staff? That policy seems to have come to the forefront because it created a fight between two clients over a flirty staff. But this was before Tae Ho joined.

I don't remember it being discussed between the two. The way she attempted to keep their relationship secret seemed more in line with someone wanting to avoid gossip. In this weekend's Saturday episode, the other staff becomes aware of their entanglement and still Hyoshim does not mention the possibility that she could lose her job to Tae Ho. He just notices her acting a bit cold and standoffish.

So saying he is being cavalier seems a bit unfair to me. I am sure that he would have been extra careful had he known what was on the line.

HS declares she will never get married because of her mother which makes the most sense so far in her story. Make it happen! The bad apple does not fall far from the tree with Little Bro sucking up to his new Evil MIL because she is rich. TH is not that much better with HS’s mother - - he still does not listen to HS and he cannot read a room if literally his life depended on it. Confronting TM about his parents death without any evidence is another stupid immature thing to do. Grandma cannot protect him because she lost her power. TH is also ignorant that he has no power or connections to fight TM or the chairman. (The writer continues to make nonsensical business and legal statements that have no basis in fact.)

His father’s drunken antics and his mother’s screeching has TM on the edge. TM is also losing his grip by offering his wife two subsidiaries in a new marriage/annulment deal. (Again, TM has no power to give away businesses.) She is not buying it because she now has his achilles heel in her possession: the tape. I am ready to hear the giant flush sound on the whole Kang family.

The show’s current overwhelming truth is that everyone in the show is coupling up with the wrong person. Incompatibility and ulterior motives is not the basis for a relationship.

The reunion came quicker than expected which probably quickens their downfall. TH’s investigation will be blocked and Grandmother has no leverage (Evil DIL can easily blame the police misidentification and Grandma having health dementia). A lot is happening but not in a coherent way.

Giving away subsidiaries violates the Chaebol Code !!
The story is still a mess. 😉

As I understand it, In Korea Dramaland, once a character becomes Chairman, TM will pretty much have the ability to do whatever he wants.

I thought the real point of the offer, repugnant as it may be to suKyung, was to show that TM may be falling into the trap that Grandmama worried about - TV Live gaining power/control over Taesan Group.

But Su-gyeong turned him down which is inconsistent with Grandma's fears- which might actually be irrational, given that Taesan's assets are not really a fit with a broadcast empire. We have assumed that Grandma is someone who never makes a mistake but, if so, how did she land in captivity for three years?

Yes, SK turned him down - perhaps he will now go straight to her father since as far as we know, she has no control (or ability) to destroy the files. i hope he doesn't, of course but. . . . it would play into grandma's prior statements - which like everything else, never made any sense.

We should all acknowledge that any relation to the real business world is never going to appear on this drama and very few viewers care.

Korean conglomerates are diverse businesses. Any sort of business unit is fair game in the organization.

For example, Lotte operates shopping centers, supermarkets, hypermarkets, and online shopping malls. It manufactures chemical products, aluminum foil, household goods, corrugated cardboard boxes, showcases, and vending machines. Lotte and its subsidiaries manufacture beverages, liquor, food ingredients and processed foods. It is also involved in real estate development, theme parks, and film/TV production as well as financial investment services.

Congratulations LYOL – Episode 33 (Sunday) broke through 20% and 32 (Saturday) was also highest Sat. episode.

On the other hand, those scenes between TM and Su-kyung were . . . distressing. Where is this writer going with these two??

But, upon reflection, it’s becoming a bit clearer. Chaebol Kang Tae Min – the man who previously expected Hyo Shim to simply follow his plans or wishes – has returned. Bravo to the writer for at least giving us plenty of motivational scenes – Tae Ho challenge, his drunken father, his controlling mother and he blames Su-kyung for the position he finds himself in. However, meek and mild Su-kyung also disappeared and the strong woman returned. She gave as good as she got and stood up to him, refusing his order to continue the marriage, forget about having children and worst of all, “find another man”. She was always blunt and honest with him previously – glad she’s back.

BTW, Viki subbers were really bad on Sunday. On Kocowa, for instance, in discussing the Chairmanship, the Director tells TM that there will be significant taxes if he becomes Chairman in the same year (does it make sense? No, but whatever) and TM tells him if necessary they might need to sell some subsidiaries – he wants everything to be done legally. On Viki, the Director says there will be “bloody carnage” and TM tells him they may need to BUY subsidiaries (which REALLY makes no sense).

Much of the conversation between TM and Su-kyung was equally misleading or vague. But the kicker was SK’s last sentence when she said (Viki) “I realize how important you think that is”. On Kocowa, she said “I realize how important THE ACCIDENT</b is to you”.

Based on some ig photos. I think one or both are headed for Daegwallyeong Pass next weekend.

When I saw the scene discussing taxes for TM rise to chairman status. I knew it made no sense. Typical corporate governance has shareholders elect the board members and the board usually elects the chairman. It has nothing to do with the number of shares TM owns. And his father and mother do not have to gift him shares in order for him to ascend to the board or chairmanship (which would trigger gift taxes.) The parents can just simply vote the shares they own.

Those of us who keep track of these things (at a minimum you, @oldawyer and me) know that it's all nonsense. However, the idea that a company might need to sell subsidiaries in order to pay some sort of huge tax at least has some logic behind it. The idea that one would BUY subsidiaries is absolute gibberish and this particular viki sub team needs some help.

Tae-min would need to be a stockholder in order to be on the Board of Directors and thus be eligible to be the Vice Chairman or the Chairman.

However, a single share would suffice. He could probably buy one easily if he had to, but I am sure he already owns a decent sized chunk of stock even if it is not as much as his father does. As the managing director he has probably acquired even more stock than he had previously been given or inherited as part of his compensation package.

Could I point out also that given the extent to which he has already been running the company and that the company's performance has apparently improved substantially since he returned that he is in fact the most logical candidate for the position from the business standpoint? It is not like he just graduated from college after all- he has substantial experience and expertise. From the business standpoint he should be the Vice Chairman and, given the fact that our current Chaiman is essentially disabled by his guilt, etc. Tae-min really ought to become the Chairman for the sake of the stockholders, employees, suppliers and customers of Tae-san.

I practically cheered when we got the real genuine Su-gyeong back and she stood up to her husband. And then we saw a whole new side of her as she was in tears before her MIL. I think that she and her husband may be more alike than either one of them realizes.

Based upon what I have seen so far, our writer-nim has absolutely no conception of the laws of corporate governance or marriage:

Grandma demanding that Tae-min's marriage be 'cancelled'.

The suggestion that Mr. Yeom can simply get Tae-hui's marriage annulled (essentially the same idea that Grandma had).

The untellable arguments regarding Tae-min's supposedly illegal appointment as Vice-Chairman or Chairman, including having to buy subsidiaries or a tax effect (appointment of a corporate officer is not a taxable event anywhere in the world). Buy or sell subsidiaries because of this? Picture Oldlawyer doing the facepalm maneuver over that one.

I believe you mis-read Dragon Mom's order to Yeom re: Tae Hee. She said that SINCE TH was now married, Yeom should remove her from the family registry - which I believe would be nearly impossible by anyone than the head of the family (in this instance, Chairman)- It's also difficult to dis-inherit someone from their statutory share of the family estate. A couple of us on MDL did research during TRHC as to what could or could not be done and by whom.

However, perhaps Mr. Yeom will NOW go talk to TaeMin and tell him about mom's instructions.

I remember the discussion from TRHC, a show that I am seriously working to forget, and in that show learned some important things.

One of those things is that the Joseon Era leftover known as 'family registers' in fact no longer exist and that in that legal sense there are no longer heads of families in the old fashioned clan sense which was the reason for 'family registers'. Every individual now simply has a birth record. Among other things this means that inheritance rights cannot be simply cut off by 'removal from the family register'. This change in the law is relatively recent so perhaps Mommy Dearest can be excused for her ignorance.

As you have noted there are apparently statutory minimum shares which a child receives. A will could certainly limit Tae-hui to that amount but beyond that it would be legally ineffective.

Mr. Yeom is no doubt aware of these things and, as such, will disregard our wannabe Lady MacBeth's ravings for the nonsense that they are. No need to tell Tae Min and when Mommy Dearest does ask him what he did about it he will simply patiently explain that what she demanded was legally impossible.

I actually think that the whole point of this was to show just how out of touch but also desperate she has become. We have seen that her husband has slipped his mental moorings but in fact she is actually crazier. Which is why she is also so dangerous.

Hyoshim telling Rubi off was the best and performed the same character analysis that Rubi condescendingly did on her like 20 episodes back. Oh snap!

I wish Tae-ho had joined a different gym the moment they got together.

It irks me that Hyo-shim's mom is turning a corner just because her youngest son that she barely pays any attention to called her coarse. I know it was an accumulation of Hyo-shim and Hyo-do accusing her of that. But Hyo-shim's suffering - as always - never figures into the equation.

Tae-hee is practically a saint for not going ballistic at Hyo-do calling Evil Mom behind her back. He is going to have to backpedal a bit once Tae-hee's mom goes to jail. I wonder if Hyo-do will also get the same lobotomy as mom.

Mom getting a cafe makes me nervous since they never talked about her making coffee, sandwiches, or cookies. Makes more sense to open a banchan store. I guess it's about time for regular guest, loan shark, to make another appearance.

Mirim's story is the most interesting to me. Not having the talent or luck and just hard work and passion - what will be her next step? Move on? Keep yearning?

I dislike Anchor Lady even more now that she's just stuck at home waiting to argue with Tae-min. I'm also almost worried about her Vitamin D levels.

Mi-rim's situation is much the same as Park Eun-bin's character in DO YOU LIKE BRAHMS? She has the desire but not the talent for acting.

She does have the talent for being a lawyer though and I hope that she goes back to that, perhaps specializing in being an entertainment industry lawyer so that she can put this experience to good use.

Choi su-kyung (aka Anchor Lady) fought back with TM this weekend - she has more spirit than any other female character, but she buried it thinking it would win TM over. She's going to be doing further investigation of the accident, I believe.

Fun fact. On Viki, they translate the word to "coarse". On Kocowa, the word is "ignorant". To an English speaker, these terms have very different meanings. In the end, I guess it's simply a negative term, regardless of the nuance.

Given the context 'ignorant' is probably closer to the true meaning but I would hazard a guess that neither English word truly captures the full meaning of what was actually said.

As for TM's wife, I would be disappointed if she did not dig further given how important this matter is to TM. What she decides to do with the information may in part be determined by what she finds.

Tae Hui and Mi Rim are shaping up so well. The leads are growing on me.
I can see redemption is on the way for HS’s mom, but she still annoys me no end. Her attitude with her entire family has been bratty, abusive, abrasive. She’s like 0 to biatch in 60 seconds.
I have always been supportive of Tae Min, but his devotion to his dad seems to be taking him to the dark side. I am starting to like the anchorwoman better.

Maybe HS's mom has redemption on the way, but I hope she suffers a bit first just to make up for how much we had to suffer through abuse- because the viewers were also abused.

I think that I have always liked Anchor Lady because I like strong people even when they are flawed (and she is). I love pairing a strong woman with a strong man- and that is why I want Tae-min's marriage to work out despite its truly awful beginning. I hope that the writer has a path for that to happen.

I didn’t like that the anchorwoman got jealous for no reason. Didn’t see her as strong at all. But I liked that she put TM in his place by rejecting his offer( which, wtf?) without a thought

I was disappointed in Mi Rim this last weekend - but perhaps it was a necessary plot point in order for Hyo Jun to develop some empathy and be unselfish towards another human. I still hold Tae Hee in reserve since she hasn't told Tae Min that Grandmama is alive.

I wish we had some idea of where the writer intends to take Su-kyung (Anchor Lady), because it's unclear if the writer wants us to be sympathetic towards her plight.
