Light Shop owner Joo Ji-hoon serves the living and the dead

Disney+ announced that the mystery-horror Light Shop (previously translated as Lighting Store) will be coming to our screens in 2024, bringing together a talented group with Joo Ji-hoon (Jirisan) and Park Bo-young (Daily Dose of Sunshine) headlining the series.
In the latest adaptation from webtoon creator Kangfull’s robust collection of stories, the supernatural drama has Joo Ji-hoon taking on the central role as the owner of the title’s light shop. Mysteriously, the shop serves as a gateway connecting the mortal and spirit realms, causing the lives of both the living and the dead to intersect.
Unfortunately, though, there hasn’t been much released about the other characters in this new drama version, so we don’t yet know who will be playing who from the webtoon – or if there are any newly made or changed characters. The one crumb that has been confirmed is that Seolhyun (Summer Strike) will be playing a suspicious customer.
Presumably, there will be more than one customer and we certainly have a stacked list of cast members to fill out the world of Light Shop, with Bae Sung-woo (Live), Uhm Tae-gu (Hometown), and Lee Jung-eun (A Bloody Lucky Day) co-starring in the series.
Also listed in the long lineup are Kim Min-ha (Pachinko), Park Hyuk-kwon (A Time Called You), and Kim Dae-myung (Hospital Playlist), in addition to Shin Eun-soo (Twinkling Watermelon), Kim Sun-hwa (Three Bold Siblings), and Kim Ki-hae (Duty After School).
On the production side, actor Kim Hee-won (Behind Your Touch) has notably taken the reins in his first project as a drama director, while the original webtoonist Kangfull (Moving) is penning the scripts. Topping off at eight episodes, Light Shop is planning to release later this year on Disney+.

Looks like there will be stories within a story. Hopefully they will able to do justice for most of those and thumbs up from me for the star cast!

Webtoon & script by the same guy who created Moving. FL from Oh My Ghostess and the good Strong Woman. Yep, I'll be tuning in.

Why does JJH seem to be cast in the “horror” genre? Though this sounds like it could be manageable for me… I would give this a try at least. 🤔
Alas - it won’t be possible: turns out, the actual horror is not so much the genre, but the streaming service. 😫

So frustrating when you hear about something but then can’t access it. I am wondering if this will be more about ghosts like Hi, Bye Mama and Ghost Doctor so is not scary at all.

Speak of the devil. We were all just fanning ourselves over Joo Ji-hoon’s, umm, acting prowess on @attiton’s fanwall.
Great casting paired with source material. Hope it’s good.

Manifesting it to be available on Hulu as well.
I think dramaland is doing a couple of dramas in this vein this year, but I love ghostie-human interactions so I'm here for it! The mystery/horror is interesting - I'm excited to find out more about what tone they will set.

Hope it's gonna be good, I missed the man in something watchable.
PBY as well? Hmmm... should we expect some romance? I'd rather not get very excited after the crush and burn disappointment that was DOOM... JIRISAN too, honestly. When will k-writers stop wasting good actors capable of fiery chemistry in their lame scripted projects?

I really want to wath this one. I love Joo Ji Hoon and it looks to be interesting story telling. I will just start wishing for Hulu to show it like they have on a few others I would not have been able to watch otherwise. Or, there is always the dark side----

Out of all the genres in the world, why does it has to be horror? Still, I think i am going to learn to stomach this genre as my favorite actors, Ju Ji Hoon and Kim Dae Myung are going to be in this drama. I also love that the scriptwriter is from Moving.
