Grabbing scoops and collars with Kim Haneul in new thriller

Kim Haneul, Yeon Woo-jin, Jang Seung-jo

KBS announced that Let’s Get Grabbed by the Collar has been lined up on the upcoming schedule, with Kim Haneul (Kill Heel), Yeon Woo-jin (Daily Dose of Sunshine), and Jang Seung-jo (Death’s Game) headlining the mystery-thriller.

Based on an award-winning web novel by the same title, journalist Seo Jung-won (Kim Haneul) is our resident collar-grabbing heroine who can get a little invested when working on a scoop. Fired up by justice, she’s grabbed a few collars in her day when encountering the jerks who committed a crime.

When an intriguing murder case crops up, though, this leads Jung-won to collaborate with detective Kim Tae-heon (Yeon Woo-jin), who also happens to be her ex-boyfriend. Rough around the edges, Tae-heon is the type to always do whatever he wants, but is also considered the ace of his team.

Rounding out the threesome, token chaebol and novelist Seol Woo-jae (Jang Seung-jo) is Jung-won’s husband. Although he appears to have it all, he suffers from inner turmoil and his one safe space is with his wife. That is, until a recent string of events that start to unhinge his walls of security.

In supportive roles, the cast includes Jung Woong-in (Moon in the Day) playing Woo-jae’s dad and the conglomerate’s president, who doesn’t approve of his son’s marriage. But due to the tragedy in Woo-jae’s past, Dad is also softhearted when it comes to his son.

Poised to be our big bad, Yoon Je-moon (High Cookie) schemes against our justice-seeking Jung-won as a corrupt prosecutor turned politician. In contrast, the compassionate Han Chae-ah (The Secret Romantic Guesthouse) is a psychiatric hospital director who our heroine consults.

We also have Jung-won’s colleagues at work, with Kim Min-jae (Shadow Detective 2) playing her partner and cameraman, while Jung In-ki (Shadow Detective 2) plays her department superior.

Written by Bae Soo-young, with PD Lee Ho and PD Lee Hyun-kyung co-directing, KBS’s Let’s Get Grabbed by the Collar is slated to release in March.

What is with these physically aggressive FLs - the high kicking, cake smashing divorce lawyer and now this collar-grabbing journo. Can't say I approve.

No I haven't. I guess it depends on the context or vibe, I loved Trinity more than Neo in the Matrix series. 🤩

I like the cast but not sure if I like the description of the FL. Those are criminals, yes, but she may have anger mgt issues too. I guess we just have to wait for the teaser to get a feel of this show.

I feel like I don't have a very good idea of the tone they are going for yet. That could make a big difference considering the character descriptions, so I'll wait until we get more info I think. Jang Seung-jo though ☺️

SA was one of my drops last year. I made it through 7 episodes and then pulled the ripcord. JSJ was not the problem. I wish him luck with this drama.

I had a lot of fun talking about Strangers Again with Beanies so I don't regret finishing it, but if it hadn't been for the comments on the weecaps, I would have dropped it like a hot coal. You're right that he was not the problem! If this ends up being a similar marital situation it would be a hard pass from me.

One interesting thing about COLLAR’s casting: seems to be ALL adults which is a good thing every now and then.

Why did I think this had to do with someone in the ice cream shop business after reading the article title?? Instead of the usual reporter role. XD

The cast and the storyline sound good...but the title needs to change.

There is an Australian expression which would have been perfect her:
‘The shirt-fronting heroine”.
To shirt-front: forcefully collide with, confront in an aggressive way.
