Warning: If you are a person who prioritizes strong plot, top-notch acting and character development, then this is not the drama you would want to watch.

Most Kdramas start out great and slowly lose their footing, head and fun and "My Demon" is no exception, but I do not regret watching it. From the beginning, it is clear that both the writer and production team did not intend to tell an epic story (or even a sensible story for that matter), but wanted the viewers to enjoy the "pretty" and they did it 80% right with the remaining 20% going wrong in the episode length/count and ridiculous anatagonist. Also, it may look like there is a deeper meaning behind certain themes/scenes, but it is best to take them at surface level.

My ratings: 6.5/10 because it gave an happy ending for the OTP. I would recommend you to watch till Ep 10 and think that the drama ended because that was its highest point before the fall.

You read my mind exactly. Very accurate with your warning.
If i had seen this warning on time, I wouldn't bother started
Tell me why "my demon" cant take a page out of parks marriage contract. If you dont have serious plot, leave the 16 episode count and dont suffer the viewers with using the fast forward button just to earn a bean.
I started by giving them that 6/10 rating but it had dropped to 4/10.

Starts out really strong with energy and humor, begins to fade in its verve around episode 5, and really starts a dramatic decline in plot consistency and humor value around episode 10. Episodes 15-16 actually made me furious and want all of my hours back.

Others were able to float above the plot holes and the tiresome, eventual search for "deeper meaning" in a rom-com. I hear that for those who can do that (I clearly can't), this was a nice little show.

I was very furious at episode 13.
No more humour just basically fillers with soo many unwanted scenes.
Not surprised they lost their viewers

You know, sometimes it is like this: ingridients are all perfect, but you forgot to add salt and it turns out bland? And even if you try to add it later it is not turn out quite right?
For me it i My Demon case. Cast were perfect, chemistry was top notch and it is only 2 ingridients which 25% saved the drama.
I blame mostly partly weird script, editing and direction. I can't point out what exsactly I can blame, my friend said to me that There are too many static scenes in My Demon and bcs of it MD looks boring. IDK for sure.
Sometimes you can add something in very predictable scenario as we saw multiple times in Dramaland and it become something new and exciting, but it is not the case here, again, unfortunately.
I FF only for love story and eye candy. And it is such a pity, bcs only this lack of something didn't make MD another Destined for you or Buisness proposal. Sigh.

The Good: witty banter, cute premise, great chemistry and lovely characters. Almost everyone was endearing, even the side characters (I say almost because one character pretty much overstayed her welcome!)

The Bad: the plot was paper thin it had so many holes by the end of it. This should've been an 8 or a 12-episode drama. It relied on too many murder attempts, rescues, and fake separations to create tension that it was just repetitive by the end of it.

The Ugly: literally 3 characters who were made to look ugly. Haha... Everything else was sooooo pretty: the fashion, sets, cinematography, and especially the leads. I got through this show because of all the pretty.

The tango scene at the end of episode four -with extra footage at the start of episode 5- were the best five minutes of tv for the year. Watch episode one ( for a complete setup) and the end of episode four. Watch the rest if you enjoy looking at pretty people. It does have one of the best pretty/ugly people dichotomies I have seen- they make an effort to make sure some of the people do Not look pretty.

Most people like this scene, even people who don't like a lot the drama. It's bad luck I don't. But it's my honest observation while watching it first time, alone. It put me out of the story, too much out of context, even grotesque. Also it jumped to me it was a cheap idea that I already saw elsewhere, "comedy tango scene", maybe other movies but probably cartoons like Bugs Bunny. Apart from that, the director had a good time, the scene is ok about visuals.

I don't like the drama but can at least propose my favorite scene, from episode 2, 50:08. Car scene with saucy humor. Not my kind of comedy, but the subtext in the dialogue between the two lead was gold. Too bad the writer didn't have this level of smarter and natural comedy during the whole drama.

Error in my text: I wanted to say "saucy is not my kind of humor", because obviously the scene is my kind of comedy.

Last things first: There are lots of different types of less-than-satisfactory endings. There are ones that crash so hard that they make you wish you hadn’t watched the rest of the drama, ones that are completely incongruous with everything you’d been lead to expect to happen, and ones with weird and unnecessary time-jumps that reveal that the leads still haven’t really gotten together in the past three years. Don’t worry, this drama doesn’t have any of those. What it has is a quieter kind of less-than-satisfactory ending that makes you sit back and say, “Huh. Okay. Well it’s not how I would have done it but, I guess it works?” I wasn’t left totally disappointed, but I was left a little confused about why they made the choices they did when it seems easy to have made better ones. If this is a dealbreaker for you, I totally understand, but I had such a blast for 14 episodes, and then I had a decent amount of fun for 2 more.

I really loved this drama. It is ridiculous in the best way, the leads are gorgeous and fantastic together, and it’s fun to guess who is behind all the evil scheming. It was great at playing to its strengths, of not being afraid of a classic Kdrama moment, and at making truly petty characters endearing and fun. It has some totally iconic scenes (that tango, for one), side characters that almost always skew toward being amusing and not annoying, and an OTP that I cheered really hard for.

Unfortunately, it also has rules that aren’t always super clear, a totally unexplained but sinister rash, a villain who could have been so much more interesting, and a second female lead who overstayed her welcome early and then continued to hang around for pretty much forever. For me, these things were slight question marks or annoyances in between bouts of joyous fun and entertainment, but I can see how they would be more grating if you were not already into the show. I think the classic 4-episode test would work well here - if you get that far in and totally love the central characters and the ridiculous tone, proceed. If it’s not for you at that point, it might be time to get out.

You expressed my feelings exactly: ridiculous in the best way; I had a blast for 14 episodes and a decent amount of fun for 2 more. Loved the way you described the ending, too: "Huh, okay. Not how I would have done it but I guess it works?"

I thought some of the plot twists were really well done, so I was starting to have confidence in the writers, but the ending could have been so much more interesting. They teased themes that they never developed, and the really dark evil was just ... really dark. (I know, I know, "the human monsters were way more monstrous than the demon"—but I'm not sure that was the right theme for such a light and silly show.)

TL;DR: It was entertaining. I don't regret watching.

As whole this show was really witty sassy and funny the leads had great chemistry loved KYJ as Do Hee . Would have like it more if I binged it. Towards the end the some episodes started to drag. The visuals were beautiful probably will rewatch some episodes and parts of this show. Was okay with the ending liked it more than Parks marriage ending. My rating 8/10

My two-word review: Cute Nope.

I wasn't even invested enough to waste more words on this. It wasn't bad enough that I am raging about it. It wasn't good enough to deserve anybody's attention.

Such a relief to read other's comments! Wasn't just me. I thought the Tango scene was just magic and recommended to others that this is a must-watch show. Yes, up to episode 5. And argument to be made until episode 8, 9 or latest 10.
One of the worst dramas of blowing a magical beginning. I blame commercialism of wanting to stretch out to 16 episodes.
Such a pretty, magical disappointment that I could not wait for it to be over (even with heavy FF).

One of the dramas I had passed up on earlier last year was My Demon. I was drawn to this show because of the amount of press it received. And with that press came the shots of the main couple. The best way to describe this amazing couple is BEAUTIFUL! So I will use that word to help with my review.
My Demon: A Beautiful Experience
Beautiful Couple- In outward appearance and inward kindness and love
Beautiful Eyes- some of the best shots of gazing into each others eyes ever
Beautiful Kissing Scenes- For a brief moment in time, they seemed to really have feelings for each other, which then helps the viewers to love this show even more.
Beautiful Clothing- the wardrobe for this show was extensive. Every scene involved 1 or more different outfits, especially for the FL.
Beautiful Fuzzy Sweaters- They needed their own shout-out
Beautiful Outdoor Photography- I especially liked the ocean scenes
Beautiful Sets- The Clock room was amazing
Beautiful Opening Credits Song- One of my favorite songs from a drama. Also great OST
Beautiful Episode 13- I kept thinking as watching that this couple would be amazing in a Sageuk drama. My wish was granted in this episode as we received the backstory to their relationship. I loved that most of the story took place at the river. Her light green Hanbok was my favorite outfit of the series. And their tragic end gave meaning to the overall show.
Dark- FL Family was truly dark and showed us what real evil was. I must admit that at ep. 10 and on I FF though anything to do with the family as it was just upsetting and gruesome.
Dark- The idea behind the Demon could be nothing but Dark. But the balance between this and the light in the beauty of the rest of the show was a highlight. And the progression throughout the show of who the Demon chose was interesting.
Dark- The portrayal of God was a much darker version than I personally believe in or am comfortable with
Dark- I found the use of religion very interesting in this show. Especially in the Joseon Era as a method of class equality. My religion has a history of persecution so it was especially significant to see this added into the story.
Beautiful ending- Happy but very interesting life ahead of them. One thought I couldn't get out of my mind was are children possible?? Was the last scene of him playing with a child fortelling?

I'm so happy I trusted my intuition and spent happy hours watching this Beautiful Drama.
