This is one of those dramas that it was best to wait for it to finish and then decide:
a) stick with the webtoon
b) watch the first half which is really light and funny with limited references to the darkness that follows and make up your own ending
c) watch it to the end by fast forwarding through anything that does not fit with the light and fluffy.

This drama’s strength was the fun factor which was present for the first half but it became serious and unfortunately maintained the dark tone for too many episodes and was unable to switch back. I would give it 5, but it would have been an 8 if it had been consistently light throughout.

One word: WOOF!

This series had all the elements to be a good rom-com. Instead of keeping it simple, the director and writer threw in a very petty backstory and failed to execute any real plan. The OTP started off cute (again teenage first love in adults trope) butwe got no advancement of their relationship, no unique moments or a clear resolution of their story. The ending was bleh.

I blame the writer and director, but also the network for treating the show like a rabid dog: once a week on dead night in TV schedule, many preemptions, and an overdose on past clips in current episodes. The story meandered like a lost puppy. I don't blame the actors; they were given no meat on the bone. This was not a show that could have been better, it was a show that SHOULD have been better. Quite the disappointment.

Just skip the drama and read webtoon. If you really like any particular actor just watch first half.

Watch the first half and skip the next half. Forget logic and sense....and especially avoid the ending.

If you’re a fan of the webtoon it’s probably better to skip this because the changes they made were mostly frustrating to build more mystery/tension at the expense of the fun. If you’re not, probably go read that instead of watch this because it is a hoot in itself.

If you like the actress and find CEW so attractive that you would watch him spread butter on toast then you can binge it, but be prepared to use the FF button a lot to get through the flashbacks to see how the story moves along. Also don’t ask why a superbeing can be that petty or illogical.

I really enjoyed this!! It's very weird, and dark, and fluffy, and cute. The tone will either work for you or not, but it definitely worked for me. Park Gyu-young is one of my favorite actresses, and she absolutely sparkles in this role - she's energetic and lovely, and she has fantastic chemistry with Cha Eun-woo, in my favorite role I've seen him in. Yul (the nephew), the FL's sister, and their veterinarian friend are all hilarious, supportive, and ready to do anything to help our FL. I'd seen some critiques about a tone shift, but I'd argue that darkness is there from the beginning, and it was the insane original airing schedule that messed up the thematic flow. As for darkness... imagine turning into a small dog and losing your agency if you can't fix your curse. There are vicious bullies, the ML has a very believable phobia of dogs, and there's also a vengeful mountain god and tragic past-life story. But it's also filled with pastel day-glo scenes, hilarious misunderstanding, lovely moments (and kisses) between the leads, and a very sweet romance as they give each other patience and empathy as they sort out their fears: he, of being judged for his phobia; she, of being thought a monster. And once the angst of their past lives is resolved, we get an entire episode of sweetness to wrap things up. The humor, romance, and dark elements all really clicked and balanced well for me! If you're looking for something different, I'd recommend this sweet and weird drama!
