Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching (December 9, 2023)

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

missvictrix

A Good Day to Be a Dog: I’m bored.

Soundtrack #2: Came for my BF Noh Sang-hyun, stayed because it was actually GOOD. Nice cinematography, good chemistry between the leads, and a story world that felt full and rich despite knowing that it’s a short-form drama. This might just be my new K-drama comfort food. I mean, I also watch origami videos…

mistyisles

Currently covering: Maestra: Strings of Truth

Castaway Diva: This show captivated me from beginning to end, but it’s difficult to explain why. I guess you could say it hit me right in that emotional sweet spot. And, at the risk of sounding incredibly cheesy, it made me want to believe that impossible dreams really can come true. My weekends will feel a little emptier in its absence for sure!

Dramaddictally

Currently covering: Tell Me That You Love Me

Castaway Diva: Wait, that was it? Ugh, I should have dropped after the first week instead of yelling at my screen until the end. When it’s clear the characters were written to support the melo plot points I find it hard to care about them in a meaningful way. I like the message about following your dreams, though. And the inspirational power of ramen is pretty undeniable.

A Good Day to Be a Dog: Whoa! I was shocked at all the tongue action in Episode 9. So shocked that all I could think about were the technical aspects and direction for these actors — which, I think, is not the way that kiss was meant to be watched. Anyway, now that the bully is out of the picture, the change in story direction feels a bit jarring (and, by the way, who cast Kim Min-seok to be a bad guy? He’s supposed to be quietly adorable and/or nerdy, not scary! I mostly just hate that he pulled it off.) I’m not as excited about digging into the past-life backstory and whatever is going on with Lee Hyun-woo’s character (wow can he play creepy!), but the comedy is laugh-out-loud, so I will pretty much sit through anything this drama delivers.

LIVE WATCHES
The Matchmakers
This drama is officially in the running to become my favorite K-drama ever, ever. Even if it doesn't end well, it might still win that award based--first and foremost--on its visual and sonic beauty, but then secondarily because of its focused narrative complexity. I find myself laughing whenever I have this thought, though, because I feel like I sound like Han Dong-jin in the final scenes before the controversial, but consensual, break-up with Sim Woo-joo in Call It Love..."You gave me everything, The Matchmakers, even if we eventually break up forever." 🥹

My Demon
Still a hoot. Still has all my attention. Got a little tedious this Friday. Song Kang isn't THAT good looking. It will surprise no one to hear that I would therefore like to spearhead TEAM LEE SANG-YI. Team LSY, 4evAH...don't care if he killed everyone in the story. I already know what his abs look like...I'm here more for the (not-supernatural) male angst.

The Story of Park's Marriage Contract
I find this drama diverting, but not as diverting as My Demon, simply because it isn't as bitingly funny--a.k.a. my kind of funny. I am also happy it's gonna be only 12 episodes...I think that's juuuust the right length.

LYOL (skimming for the gifs)
Weekenders go on forever!!! And there's never not enough Ha Joon nowadays. And also, his character needs to shape up or ship out.

Welcome to Samdal-ri
Why is no one talking about how O-bong is in this drama too??? I just can't. He's the best. Wookie, sure sure. O-bong has my attention.

FROM THE RESERVES
So, you know how Hong-jo (from Destined with You) and now Yeon-woo (from TSoPMC) go off into the woods alone in the dark because, "they feel like it," and everyone screams at them, "Don't do that, you dum-dums!! Bad things happen when women wander alone in the woods!!"

I'm doing that soon. Going to a cabin, all alone and by myself, for three days, in the woods. I'm calling it my Hong-jo Hiatus.

"Why did you go off alone into the forest, risking your life recklessly," he asked.

"To get away from you people and your incessant needs," I replied.

I shall be taking My Liberation Notes with me, but who knows, I might just stare out the window...waiting for my psychopath shamanic stalker to find me like a Perilous Prince Charming.

Yeah, when @laurensophie called him "stupidly good looking" that captured it for me. It's like it's not real and therefore not attractive or interesting for me to watch. It was that same quality, though, that made his always-waiting-to-be-naked character so appropriate in Nevertheless.

I have to respectfully disagree, in Demon Song Kang over Lee Sangyi, that hairstyle is just, ehm, no... however, in Hometown, there... that's another story, there I found LSY very attractive. 😊

Required fields are marked *

Yeah, I guess I should clarify. My sentences made it seem like I'm Team LSY because he's better looking than Kong Sang. That's not quite right.

I just meant...since I'm not watching for Kong Sang's looks, and on Friday I felt that the reason to root for the character of the Demon was mainly predicated on liking him for his looks, I'd rather see a plot where Lee Sang-yi is NOT the villain and is a bonafide better human choice than a, you know, DEVIL...and we can really have a proper ML-2ML tension.

That's what I want, and in that battle, I'll be Team LSY 4evAH!

I've been considering getting into the Matchmakers for quite awaile... but I found the premise too bubbly and cute for my taste - does it have darker/more dramatic moments? OBV it's ok if not but I just wanna know if it's for me.

Yes, absolutely, it has more dramatic moments. Like many dramas this year, it started more funny/bubbly than it has gone on. Each episode has retained the unique sprightly "voice" of the drama, but the plot has become more dramatically serious as the weeks have rolled on.

This drama is quite surprising. There are a lot of quiet and slow moments and a lot of comedy but at the end, there are a lot of things happening. The matchmaking is the main point but there are palace intrigues with the King's power in danger, murders to solve and Confucius's annoying rules.

Episode 6 is killing me given that I know, obvs, which man she chooses.

Also, I am learning that it could be that I choose to be on Team Not-the-Lead only when I'm pretty much entirely sure that I'm going to be alone on that ship.

Why is no one ever with me? I ask myself this like I don't actually ensure that it will be that way. It's like what Indiana Jones when he is River Phoenix, "Everybody's lost BUT ME!!!!"

Hopefully, you do not have a stalker who has already pinched your underwear from your clothing line, shouted at you for not going on a date with him, called smiling "asking for it", performed strange ominous rituals with aforementioned underwear, and uhm, tried to kill you?
If none of this applies to your life, I think you should prioritise your need for being alone in the woods over the fear for bad men. Though they exist, silence and squirrels exist, too.
I blow you a well-wishing kiss.

Yes, we have all been called "B*tch" for not being überjoyed at someone offering us their appendix some late night. But in most of those cases, a cabin in the woods is a fine place to go.
If the guy is a landscape artist/ worker and works in that forest, and has proven violent on more than one occasion, then "fine place" not so much.

Ah! I wouldn't say "clever," but the actor Kim Hyun-mok plays a delightful source of comic relief (although is it called comic relief when everyone else is also funny???) in the form of a character named O-bong in The Matchmakers.

This same man is playing the "amusing sidekick" work colleague/friend to Wookie in Welcome to Samdal-ri.

I'm watching MM because of its spectacular beauty and exceptional writing...I might end up watching Samdal-ri for little things like finding references to other dramas 🤣

COMPLETED
Perfect Marriage Revenge - Perfect is already in the name. Everything about this was 💯.

Castaway Diva - Watching most of the show at one go made it seem more coherent. Park Hye-ryun still writes wonderful found families.

ONGOING
The Matchmakers - Sam-soon-gu 🥰. So glad the romances are coming together. I'm eager to see what Lady Park will do to Jo and Co.

A Good Day to Be a Dog - Yul's dating tips 😂. Yul performing an exorcism 🤣. Once again Yul best boi.

Moon in the Day - I thought the reason she killed him was pretty compelling. In the hands of a better team, this would make a good story.

My Demon - Tango scene for the ages. The gangsters dancing with baseball bats 🤣.

The Story of Park's Marriage Contract - The stepmom/stepbro are so ridiculously OTT. OTP continue to be adorable.

STARTED
My Man is Cupid - What a bizarre mish-mash of genres. The body count in Week 1 is already staggering.

Welcome to Samdal-ri - The finger guns sold it for me (☞゚ヮ゚)☞.

C-DRAMAS
Still watching A Journey to Love and Love Me, Love My Voice but I'm behind the airing schedule as usual 😅.

Planning to watch The Hope and try out The Last Immortal.

It would have been a good Chinese drama - because this is very generic style of Japanese and Chinese literature. calculative forced arranged marriages - from strangers to lovers or from enemy to companion - the characters r what keeping all that king's time interesting and making show more a trash that can be recycled. Simple story always reaches the heart but well that won't make you money.

Watching On-Air:
Park's Marriage Contract: (Week 2) Ooh it keeps being fun and heart-fluttering!! That kiss last week made me squeeee, and now he's flustered and falling fast! Sa-wol is a riot - in ep 5, taking some time out of hiding behind a couch with the ML's secretary to feel his biceps 🤣 Yeon-woo is a great FL character... Turns out, a Joseon noblewoman makes a formidable chaebol wife. Yeon-woo can certainly hold her own, and Tae-ha needs her. Somehow, all of it just feels magical, and I think a lot of it comes down to the ✨️chemistry✨️ between the leads.

Finished:
Perfect Marriage Revenge: Update - Hopeful's Mom's Perfect Marriage Revenge Watch: Finale she loved it too!! Her exact words: "It's like candy." For me, this was the most fun I had with watching in 2023! Also, one of the most perfectly and completely wrapped up finale all year of the things I watched. What a blast!!

Twinkling Watermelon: What a sweet, sweet story. I loved seeing Lee-chan and Cheong-ah's relationship blossom - his gentleness and caring for her were lovely. Yes, I cried at his confession scene - one of the most heartfelt I've ever seen. Eun-gyeol's friendship with his dad and the way he protected his mom filled my heart. It was a four-kleenex last episode (Lol my dog even came over to check on me at one point), and I loved the ending. The drama wasn't perfect, but it was pretty darn close. I LOVE THEIR FAMILY SO MUCH ❤️

Miscellaneous
I'm going back to finish Destined With You before the end of the year. I'm now craving more "time travel to meet your parents in the past as teenagers" stories, so I'm probably going to give My Perfect Stranger another try, skipping all the torture stuff. I'm stalled out on True Beauty and not sure when I'll go back to that... lots to catch up on with Wonderland of Love, and hoping that Journey to Love will finish well so it can be my next C-drama action × romance watch!

I dunno, Hopeful...there's a group of us who might be more and more firm that we think you should start The Matchmakers before going back to DWY. I know why you want to do that, but...there's simply no comparison.

Over on the "Bean of Greatness" post, @indyfan called MM a "Rowoon Vehicle," and I disagree (like @sonai did). DWY is a Rowoon Vehicle. The Matchmakers is a deep, ensemble cast with a complexity that is playing out well.

And, as @hacja pointed out at the very start, they do have in common that Rowoon's character can't seem to get it together in the sex department, so in that way, they can be considered basically interchangeable 😘

Required fields are marked *

Agreed! When I think why I liked DWY, I think of Rowoon. (A bit unfair to other actors, but ... ROwoon). When I think of why I like MM, woah ... there's the whole wall of who gets whom, and then the whole wall of who killed whom, and then the big, most interesting wall of "WHY".
(Psst! Patriarchy!) And all the characters are wonderfully made, ...

5
reply

Required fields are marked *

I agree that Matchmakers is an ensemble cast, though Ro-woon is doing his best work here. DWY was too much "look at how ridiculously handsome and suave Ro-woon is", especially with the camera angles. In Matchmakers, the drama allowed him to look less godly and even completely derpy sometimes. None of the characters fawn over his looks.

If someone is deadset on finishing DWY - I think they should finish it and get it over with. Like that starter salad or soup. And then watch The Matchmaker as the ultimate entree and dessert!

Ok, I tested my resolve on my order of priorities with finishing dramas and watched the first five minutes of ep 1... and I'm wondering, what does it take for a drama to be considered a masterpiece? Does there have to be consensus, or can I just shout it? Because this PD is making magic, and I can tell it's going to be all of everything I like, plus the most stunningly beautiful visuals - including visuals lavished on small scenes and domestic scenes, which is rare.

Required fields are marked *

Err, I did say it was a Rowoon vehicle. Doesn’t everyone remember the promos that spotlit Rowoon, all our chatter about not another Rowoon drama so soon about DWY? And then I added an important BUT. And that but was that it’s actually an ensemble show and turning out to be one the best one of 2023 with brilliant women. That second of my statement is being completely ignored. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Dropped: Tell Me That You Love Me - Love triangle turning into love square, decided following highlights of the secondary couple was good enough for me.

Perfect Marriage Revenge (Series review) - Mood progression: C / C- / C- / C / C- / D+
While it was nonetheless the surprise breakout within this batch of dramas, it wouldn’t be conscientious of me to ignore the crucial point, that is, the writer did have the easy way out with an audience that is already tuned to accept logical fallacies. But I will give credit for the way the writer made us fall in love with the frenzied chaos and I very much enjoyed the revenge.

Castaway Diva (Series review) - Mood: C+ / C / C- / C- / D+ / C-
Sometimes I wonder what this show could’ve been had the characterisation and overall narrative been a lot more nuanced: take for example the CEO, who could’ve been more conflicted regarding Ran Joo’s unprofitability. Instead, the writer just so lazily goes for the simplest denominator and ends up with a story that wastes the cast’s talent. Poor Park Eun Bin?

The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract (Episode 3-4) - Mood: C-
That’s an interesting cliffhanger: has Tae Ha remembered his past life or has he only figured out that Yeon Woo’s truly from the past? The story seems to running from one trope to another cliche and honestly the writer doesn’t seem to care one bit, but I’m glad that Sa Wol isn’t Tae Min’s consolation prize and it’s the awesome secretary instead (YAS!). Ok, let’s not jinx it.

Welcome to Samdal-ri (Episode 1-2) - Mood: D+
This show reminds me of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and not in a good way: a contrived setup that forces the return of the city-loving FL to her hometown who clashes with the countryside-loving ML. Oh and this time round they’re exes, if it wasn’t enough drama already. But then the production managed to cast Jaden (!) and Aziz (!) and of course I can’t drop it.

My Man Is Cupid (Episode 1-2) - Mood: D+
Ah, the classic serial killer arc in a romance show. As though the love triangle that stretched over 500 years wasn’t enough, there has to be some drama that forces the main characters together.

A Good Day to Be a Dog (Episode 9) - Mood: D+
Despite being narratively inconsequential now that the curse is lifted, Yul has once again become the scene stealer. I’m not sure if I’ll like Shaman to be his consolation prize but I would also be mad if he’s stuck playing cheerleader. The plot though is crawling at a snail’s pace with the time being taken up by romance filler. And the show still has 5 more episodes, oh dear.

My Demon (Episode 3-4) - Mood: D
Imagine if Grandma died due to her having made a deal with the Demon in the past? That would’ve been a great twist! But, this writer completely shut that possibility down with the allergy and here we are playing Cluedo.

Also watching: Soundtrack #2 (Episode 1-2) - Mood: D+

SA T20 league was sucessfucl and more to economy and that's why T20 is so powerful now. It brings money, a lot of it. Cricket isn't a good career for most - associate countries layers have to look for jobs most year around and in between play international professional cricket to have any chance in any cricket worl tournament.

So even though i'm not much into t20 - i give it +ve for generating employment.

JAPAN - busy no time to watch any drama - just keep on reading entertainment news for now - demands lot of attention and that's why when short on time i don't jump in - THis will affect my top 10 of 2023 watch that i do every year but i've one better tactic ready for it.

Crybabies r still on drama - such - freeloaders. well, not much u expect from any fandom.

Kikuchi Hina - woah - in every magazine - sold out photoshot - next in 2024 gonna be sold out too - time to jump to movies or tv drama as gossip going on - agency gonna decide - but woah this teen kid surely is going good - much like RIHO - who got much fame from ads - now hv several dramas - currently with eita.

Rest is typical - cheating - gross fluff - cuckolding. so nothing much going on.

KOREA - Easy low quality stuff not demands as much attention.

Matchmaking had potential 4.5/10 - 2023 better compared to 2022 -2021 in terms of potential - still pretty low quality typical korean year - wasted potential a lot.

fanfiction to watpad horny heroine 3/10 - the year started with horny heroines n dec is going same - nothing much u expect frm pretty faces whose dialogues literally are online meme copy-paste - as expect its shoehorned korean romance.

UEE - 4/10 - Yeah yeah victim card b/c they know who their audience is - brownie points galore.

japanese remake - naaah - the gal looks good - guy looks good, better do corny korean romance than copy-paste something popular but equally mediocre.

Ji chang wook - 4/10 - another copy paste from dramas - with typical 3 annoying sisters - among one who alays is a teen mom, one alays a divorcee and one who always loses her job. woah such nice copy-paste. i can sy lot more about typical hero n heroine - but, naah leave it to JANUARY.

TURKISH - Ahh having no time n then to watch 2 hours of family antics - not easy to handle the work - too short on time - days need to be 45+ hours worth.

CHINA -

Wonderland of Love - 4/10 - It's a wuxia - so nothing much to expect. I am onto 28th episode - typical fight for the chair - romance antics as u expect from a corny chinese romance - BUT, I have to say compared to all the fluuf trash chinese through - this one has far better relationship progress between hero-heroine. One of the big +ve of the drama - rest is all -ve. Th is is one heck of dumb drama acting smart.

Heroine's job after 15 episodes is to - warm the bed - yeah - heroine is always captured by somew or is on bed because health troubles - she litterly becomes damsel in distress and hero has one job - to act as a SUperhero - hero has to protect d heroine naa. Seriously, there are several other things that are too cheap that turn whole story n characters into a joke - a pretty cheap joke.

+VE - Hero n heroine's different view regarding chair - chair that is a must for a peace and harmony of citizens.
This concept deserved more attention but no - we need cheap drama - and for now all is being stretched and i expect this huge vie won't be expanded and explored and will most likely be played for more cheap moves and action.

Grandma starts threatening back, Hyoshim and Taeho are basically dating and Aspiring Actress is back to being awesome (and yes, it was satisfying to see her pulling Lawyer Oppa's ear). We also see Secretary Yeom enjoying his... daddy bonding times??

Demon
This is surprisingly getting better and better and totally jives with my sense of humor. Or I probably should rather say tangoes 😄 because that closing scene of episode 4 was INGENIOUS! It's not just the swoony I'm my bodyguard's bodyguard and the smexy Song Kang dancing (and using his dancing partner to slap the gangsters around 😄)... but also the gangsters rhythmically stepping and moving their baseball bats, their boss dancing against his will, the catchy tango music... and rose petals flying in the air. 💃
It all somehow feels like a collaboration between Hong sisters and the writer of Vincenzo... writing an Agatha Christie whodunit together. And I'm enjoying every second of it. 😎🍿

Perfect Marriage Revenge
It was very very satisfying to see the villains meet their well deserved end. I especially chuckled when Yura crashed that engagement family dinner of Yijoo's Ex. 😁

Samdal-ri
I had difficulties to believe that qick fall from grace of such a well established photographer. Anyway, I'm watching for the family dynamics, the actors... and Jeju.

A Good Bad Day to Date
I was somewhat disappointed and expected a bit mooore from the dating. 😅 But I laughed a lot, especially with the curtain opening at the gym. 😆

Soundtrack 2
The #1 didn’t work for me as I wanted, but this one has my full attention straight from the beginning. I can understand both protagonists - their dreamer/optimist versus realist/pessimist clashes, sometimes it is a matter of timing and our growing up phase...

Still watching and loving Park's Contract Marriage (and I'm a week behind with Unpredictable Family).

Nah, he got his original wish (and totally deserved it 😁). And his mom (and sister) got a daughter-in-law she deserved.
That's one aspect of the drama I liked, the villains reaped what they sowed and their end was their own doing.

It’s been such a hectic couple of weeks for me that I’ve not been able to participate in the conversations around these dramas as much as I’d like. Hoping to get back into them more soon with all you lovely folks! Until then, a few thoughts:

Live Watches
The Matchmakers: Sam-soon-gu ship is off and away and I couldn’t be more giddy about it! I’m glad they are pairing off the old bachelors too - no one gets left behind! Lives are being plotted against and things are looking bleak, but we’ve come this far and writer-nim has not led us astray.

A Good Day to be a Dog: Now that the curse is broken I guess we have to spend more time on the mountain spirit storyline. *sigh* The cute is still cuting but I haven’t quite been able to drum up any interest in the past lives stuff.

Castaway Diva: I know this drama wasn’t for everyone, but I was obsessed until the end. I’m so glad Chae-ho chose to stand gracefully to one side; he was at his best when he was acting like a big brother to everyone. And I can’t say enough good or gleeful things about Mok-ha and Ki-ho, though I’ve certainly given it a go. I was mostly satisfied with Ran-joo’s wrap-up, and am glad she’s doing something she loves and is good at, even if the whole thing with the shares seemed inadvisable at best. And finally, getting the full circle moment with Mok-ha and the balloons was just incredible. Ok, gotta go listen to the soundtrack again.

My Demon: SO glad they let us watch the tango scene again! ML mad at himself for feeling *feelings* is one of my favorite stages of enemies-to-lovers, and Gu-won is killing it here. I’m loving every ridiculous minute of this show.

Beanies, I have time to start one more drama this weekend (well, I’m making time. Whatever.), so what should I start? Should I do Twinkling Watermelon which I always wanted to watch but didn’t have time for when it aired? Or should I try to catch up with either Welcome to Samdalri or The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract? I’d love everyone’s opinions! (And I know we Beanies are good at those 😁)

My Demon & Park’s Marriage Contract I can’t wait to watch tonight’s episode, was away on my very first work trip so was really excited to have these saved to watch tonight!

The Dog Show OTP is the best! Also it’s such a trip watching this show whilst also watching the Sweet Home series - same with My Demon too, since both Park Gyu-younhg and Song Kang are playing vastly different characters in their respective shows vs their characters in the Sweet Home series.

Welcome to Samdalri bit of a bumpy start last week, I think this week will be the test as to whether this becomes a drop, fast forward watch or remains a proper watch. I’ve got my hopes up because ep 2 did seem to set a course that I found more entertaining!

Sweet Home 2 up to episode 4 now! I really like the second season, it’s obviously very different to the first but in a way that’s good in expanding on the narrative and characters that were set up in the first season. At least season 3 is also not too far away - summer 2024 I think!

Sound Track #2 I actually had no intention of watching this but saw the premiere watch post here and thought why not. Glad I did though, this seems like a delightful romance story! Thought pacing was very fast and then realised it’s only 6 episodes 😭 I’m liking discovering the leads’ past relationship bit by bit and mapping how my assumptions and feelings change a long the way - there were things that I was thinking during ep 1 that were challenged and replaced with ‘ahhh okay I get it now sort of’ vibes by the end of ep 2 and I really like that slow illumination of perspectives and events that really shows you how the level of information you have really does skew your perspective.

Wonderland of Love (C-drama) finished! Defs one of my top C-drama watches, although the second bit was slightly repetitive compared to the first part, it was still fantastic and a very satisfying watch overall. Had some great cinematography, acting and action sequences to match. And this gave me my favourite Xu Kai character yet! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a romance action filled costume drama, with a good balance of comedy and seriousness.

I also want to start watching The Night Has Come because the crime/thriller vibes with the survival/disaster vibes sound like a mix that has my name written all over it and Beanie comments for Tell Me That You Love Me also make me want to start watching!

It was semi-productive, it was kind of like an end of year party disguised as a 'planning trip' 😂 BUT yes omg the sleep was FANTASTIC - got my own room and it was so so quiet, especially compared to home which is constantly loud morning and night, so I got such a good rest in!

I don't think it disqualifies you! I haven't seen #1 so can't speak to a comparison but I think 6 eps especially means we'll get fast and snappy narrative without filler which is great :D

CASTAWAY DIVA (Ep 11-12) In the 15 hour run time for the show, we maybe had 30 minutes of short island scenes (about 3 percent of show) and we maybe had 30 minutes of PEB actually singing (which was odd since she can actually sing well - - - I was perturbed that they used an OST cover when she was recording in the studio). I think the promo PR was a bit bait and switch. I wanted a full castaway story and a full diva story for PEB but got nothing substantial (like filling up on free, tasteless bread sticks before the meal). The elements and premise were there waiting to be harvested. Instead, we got no fish-out-of-water story of MH having trouble getting back into society, or trying to reach her dream. It was too easy. We got a pile of criminal cases of identity theft, domestic abuse, business fraud, harassment/stalking and attempted murders.

I think this show falls into the growing category of a Show That Could Have Been (alot) Better. There were too many events that led to an uneventful series conclusion.

WELCOME TO SAMDAL-RI (Ep 1-2) If there was ever a show to pile on a record amount dung on the main character in the first episode, this was has to be close. This is really a high octane show. Shin Hae-Sun really pulls out no stops in her range of serious to comedic skills. The script set her up as being the best photographer in Korea, the top of her profession, then just as quickly, tear her down with a cheating boyfriend, and the lying betrayal by her assistant. Her career is vanquished by a false rumor. But the highlight of the episode was her sisters (divorced and widowed?) and niece (another great and sassy child actor). The Cho family dynamic seems to have the elements of some real fun interactions. Also, since OUR BLUES the celebrity of Jeju Haenyeo has boosted their pay grade for all of them to have new ATVs.

TELL ME THAT YOU LOVE ME (Ep 3-4) This series continues to hit its pace with introspection, real communication and hurdles for the main characters. The leads do have a friend they can rely upon to set them straight and support them, but organically JW and ME are moving closer together. There is such balance and subtlety in the characters outward emotions and contact between each other. ME feels she offended JW but his letter indicates his shy insecurity around normal people, especially women who take interest (in his mind maybe pity) in him.

Empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of another, is such a big part of the show. It is about listening to others, but also listening to your own heart. A lesson often overlooked in our smartphone dependent lives. The series continues to have long pauses to reflect like an indie film but also the depth of many layers of a Renaissance master’s painting.

A GOOD DAY TO BE A DOG (Ep 9) It was a weird episode. The fantasy bursts from Hae-Na seem out-of-place and the couple’s first time teen level awkwardness was eye rolling . . . they are adults, even...

7

... inexperienced adults, should act like adults if they want emotionally grow together. And after the curse was lifted, the story starts to drift. The Mountain Spirit storyline seems to lost some of its impact unless History never forgets his jealous revenge plot.

Last night I went to the theater to see THE BOY AND THE HERON. It has been stated that it is a semi-autobiographical fantasy from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki, the master of Japanese animation. It follows in the footprint and elements of his previous masterpiece SPIRITED AWAY, as a young boy named Mahito yearning for his mother ventures into a fantasy world shared by the living and the dead. The background painting and movements of nature are still the gold standard in animation films. The theater was crowded too, which was nice to see. At the end, there was some applause and the two teen girls behind me called it “great.” At age 82, this is most likely his last full length feature film.

Tell me that you love me: I am continuing to enjoy this drama. I love how both Mo Eun and Jin Woo continue to show up for each other, despite miscommunications and Jin Woo trying to create distance between them. They are quietly loving.

The Matchmakers: AT lastttttttt, Oraboni and Soon Gu together at last. They are my favorite couple. I will not comment on the older sister and the Prince because why. However, the mystery of how Du Ri and Shi Yeol will get together considering he is supposed to marry Ye Jin. As for our OTP, we will get there when we get there.

Moon in the day: The writing is bad, the acting isn’t great, and everything else is so blah. However, here I am still watching, lol. I feel like there is something that could have worked, but they never pulled it out. SIGH

A good day to be Dog: There Is a lot of interference with our OTP cuteness and I don’t like it. I have no idea why they made Bo Gyeom’s reincarnation love his student. I get that she is 21, but it is still a weird choice to make. She could have been a new student, office worker, hell a janitor. Why make her a student?

My Demon: I finally enjoyed episode 5. I had fun watching it. They moved away from the weird lingering gaze and started working on building them together. I look forward to episode 6.

The story of Park’s Marriage: I still love this so much. Our OTP has suck great chemistry. Tae Ha finally succumbing to Yeon Woo’s charms is so cute. You see him falling in love and not realizing it. Also, I am shipping Sa Wol and Mr. Hong so hard. Sa Wol calling him a burly man and his crush on her is ADORABLE.

Soundtrack #2: I liked it. Hyeon Seo and Su Ho are cute. He is obviously still hung up on her and I get it, he really had no closure the poor man. Hyeon Seo seems to be in the wrong here, I am curious how they will solve it.

Sweet Home 2: This was a SLOG, but I made it through. I am not sure I understood the point of this season. Where are we going show?

Welcome to Samdal Ri: I can’t wait for episode 3. Unlike everyone else, I loved it.

Matchmakers aka The Mix & Match Show: 7.0 Having trouble keeping all the characters straight. Bachelor 8,205 is which one again?

Park's Marriage Contract: 8.1 Sa-wol!! Joo Hyun-young⌚

Goryeo Kitan War: 6.0

My Demon: 8.0

Welcome to Samdal-ri: __ Paused halfway thru ep 1, may come back if reaction to weeks 2 & 3 is good. Dropping a Shin Hye-sun show feels like heresy, but shows that want me to stick around need to start with something fun or exciting, not miserable and boring, and the payoff should be more than the advertised small-town-healing-good. Maybe if the small town had ghosts, demons, dog-women, time traveler marriages...
However this show works out, there can be alternate titles for it: Samedalri if it goes tropy & unoriginal, Lamedalri if it is lame, Damndalri if they pull noble idiocy, Saddalri... But I'll probably have to leave that up to you who watch it.

Night Has Come: 2.5 Out after about 25 minutes.

Moon in the Day: 5.0 Bean⌚ Why is it that in every reincarnation show the past life that started all the trauma was the first life and not the 18th or 8018th? And how long have people been reincarnating anyway? Since the rise of religions that believe in reincarnation? Since the appearance of Homo Sapiens? Homo Erectus? Since last Thursday?

Good Day to Be a Dog: 6.1 The dating felt like filler this week. Cute, but filler.

Castaway Diva: 9.0 Coming full circle -- with Balloons.

If Ki-ho / Bo-geol had just kept searching all the other islands, he might have found:
1: Amelia Earhart?
2: Jimmy Hoffa?
3: The lost script for the original (good) ending of Heartbeat?
4: Better dresses for Mok-ha than the ones she wore for the performances at the end.

What a week. Cannot say I have been watching much, but slowly progressing in like 20 minute installments… anyways:

Made time for my favorite, THE MATCHMAKERS. Was glad about the box of tissues I had aready. It was beautiful, and a little bit heartbreaking - but all the swoons!

Also: finished watching PMR! What a unique gem. I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish, and am preparing to include it in the round up posts (if I ever get the time to - uh - do a round up post).

Ongoing watches that I couldn’t pull off this week, but can maybe start on tomorrow:
* PARK’S MARRIAGE CONTRACT
* maybe the DOG SHOW, though, it got a bit slow…
* ummm, I actually snuck in some HEARTBEAT! Yay! I love the OTP. What a swoon fest!
* SAMDAL-RI - this had a decent start. Looking forward to continue watching this. Wookie FTW.

If you discover what Park Kang-hyun’s next drama series will be please pass it on. After a cursory search of the usual English language sites I don’t see anything on tap right now.
However, he appeared last summer into the fall (I believe) in the musical MEMPHIS which had won four Tony awards when it ran on Broadway. Here is Park Kang-hyun performing from Act 2, “Memphis Lives in Me”. (Btw, I think he borrowed the black shirt he is wearing from Kim Nam-gil who also looked great in black in TTD (2022).)

Ongoing

My Demon : Current favorite. So much fun. I am loving Song Kang here. Scenes between him and his assistant is a riot.

Park Marriage contract : Tropey, yet entertaining. Leads are adorable. Want the brother gone. He is annoying. It’s a bit too predictable though.

Welcome to Samdal-ri I really wanted to like it. But I am struggling to connect with the story. The whole escaping to village is not working for me nor the village humor. I want her to fight. Go back and fight.

My man is Cupid This should be a drop. But Ep 2 gave me something towards the end with the leads. This is a train wreck from day one but I can’t seem to stop watching.

Completed

Perfect Marriage Revenge :
Ended perfectly giving me all the feels. A favorite this year.

Five Enough : a lot of FF. but done. I felt Swoon Hoon was much more relaxed here and much better. He isn’t so stiff. Comedy does suit him.

Dropped

Love me Love my voice(cdrama):
I really wanted to like it. But it was just boring. A lead who is a voice actor, doctor (?) and a chef?? Is that even real. Actually I didn’t understand a lot of things. Why are college students collaborating with professionals and how is a college student a music planner? Everything felt too staged, the meetings, chats, etc I didn’t connect to the story from Ep 1. Sorry Tan Jian Ci. Will miss your pretty face.

The Matchmakers: I'm more impressed by this show every week. It is one of the most beautifully shot dramas in recent memory. But on top of that, the writing is as good as the cinematography. Matchmakers is combining tender romance, murder mysteries and touches of humor, and making it all work thanks to sharp plotting and a host of characters you can't help but root for. Happy endings all around? Fingers and toes crossed.

Marriage Contract Show: I’ve yet to watch Ep. 5, but it’s been charming so far. The succession fight interests me only as far as Yeon-woo becomes Tae-ha’s ally in it, so I hope we don’t spend too much screen time on the scheming aunt and monochrome cousin.

Perfect Marriage Revenge: Calling it perfect might be a (very small) step too far, but it offered a perfect viewing experience.

Soundtrack #2: Fan wall chatter convinced me to try it and I’m glad I did. Two episodes and I’m already all-in on the beautifully flawed OTP.

Moon in the Day: Why still here? Sunk-cost fallacy. After 12 episodes, I might as well stick around for the last two.

Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty It’s a really fun watch, thanks to great pacing and an ensemble of appealing characters.

The Story of Park's Marriage Contract ep 3-4 The show cuts off at awkward moments, editing needs to work on that. Aside from that I am liking the progression of our leads relationship. I wonder when Yeon Woo will remember that kiss that kept Tae Ha awake all night. Tae Min need to grow up but at least we know he is not an airhead. It seems like he is just bidding his time.

Perfect Marriage Revenge ep 11-12 I am happy with how the story ended and sad that the show had ended. I have enjoyed watching this series as much as interacting with other beanie. The ending was not as makjangy as expected. But its good that the baddies got what they deserve in the end.

Live Your Own Life ep 20-21 there were a lot of Tae Ho and Hyo Shim cuteness this week. He even managed to bribe an invitation for the fitness trainers three day MT. Anything for him not to miss a day in seeing Hyo Shim.

A Journey to Love ep 11-20 this is my current obsession. This show has everything - romance, action, comedy, melo and court intrigues. The delegation team is my favorite. They are just a bunch of gossipy spy masters who likes to meddle on their chief's love life.

My Demon ep3-4 Song Kang is doing great on this role and has good comedic timing. That last tango scene is epic. I want more scenes like that.

Sweet Home 2 ep 1-7 the stakes are higher and new characters are introduced. I actually wanted to see more of Hyun Su and how he has evolved but with so many characters, its understandable that he may not be on every episode. The introduction of the girl and her powers added another layer of complication to the story.

the Matchmakers ep 10-11 The matchmaking does not go as intended which makes Sam Soon very frustrated with her sisters. Jung Woo and Soon Duk revealed their feelings for each other. And I wonder how writernim intends to resolve their story. I am on the look out for what Lady Park will do now that she found out her husband and brother hid something from her.

Tell Me That You Love Me ep2 - on pause

the Secret Romantic Guesthouse ep 1-7 I have no business starting another drama since I already have a lot on pause. But I liked the find out for myself if I can guess right on who is The Grand Heir. There are a lot of hints here and there but I think I will go with the FL's romantic interest.

I feel that Yeon Woo totally remembered the kiss and did right when she woke up?

Also, I just realized while typing that I wondered if I had the right drunk woman remembering the right drunk kiss after she woke up from being passed out (sigh the tropes) because LYOL has men named Tae-ho and Tae-min and TSoPMC has Tae-ha and Tae-min...also Tae-min is the "lesser" man in both cases.

I wonder if that name sounds like that to native speakers--always the second fiddle--you know, the way that it is hardER to be a good guy when your character's named "Norman" or "Nathaniel."

Maybe there is something with the name Tae Min that makes him the lesser of the Tae Ha/Tae Ho of the world. 🤭 or its just a coincidence?

Tell Me That You Love Me I don't like how this show looks more like a lesson about deafness than about a deaf character.

The Matchmakers My favourite airing drama! Our favourite lieutnant finally confessed! Waiting for the rest of the many other couples.

Moon in the Day The story is super angsty, sadly they forgot to cast actors who had the range for it.

A Good Day to Be a Dog A sexy kiss needs to be balanced between the 2 actors, otherwise it's weird, not sexy...

Welcome to Samdal-ri Waiting for the FL's selfpity to stop and their interactions.

The Story of Park's Marriage Contract How many times the same characters can fall on each other? The couple is cute but the rest is very cliché and lacks constancy.

My Demon I love the cold and hot lead interactions.

Soundtrack #2 I'm tired by the plot of exes being so childish when they meet again after years. It's a short drama, I don't need petty characters...

WHAT I'VE FINISHED:

This week? Nothing.

WHAT I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF WATCHING:

1. HOTEL DEL LUNA - Interesting premise and certainly entertaining enough. However, it has turned out to be one of those series where I'm interested enough to watch at lunchtime but not interested to the point where I'm bingeing it.

2. TAIL OF THE NINE-TAILED - Another one where it's interesting enough for me to watch an episode at a time but I'm not doing the binge thing. Lee Dong-Wook is handsome and all and I like Jo Bo-A but oddly, DESTINED WITH YOU held my attention more effectively as a "past lives soulmates" drama.

3. W - TWO WORLDS - Now THIS is totally my speed! I absolutely LOVE this! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! But after bingeing the first half of the series, I hit pause on this because I had too much work coming in. Will finish it in a second binge later on.

4. WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING - Same as W - TWO WORLDS. Put on hold for now or I'll binge it all and not meet my deadlines LOL!

LIVE WATCH

1. MY DEMON - I absolutely adore this drama! The humour! The fashion! The Tango Fight Scene!

2. WELCOME TO SAMDAL-RI - Just started this. It's promising and definitely has its hilarious moments.

This years "Tale 1938" is a vastly superior production to the original. Stick with the first one though, if you can, because I think it makes the second one even better!

Popping up as usual to 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 W. It's one of my absolute favorites - I just finished a third rewatch. There's so much going on that it repays close attention, but it's also such a rollercoaster ride that it's hard to slow down and take in all the twists and turns and details. And like a good rollercoaster, it gets even more twisty and fast-paced in the second half.

I have trouble watching two shows with the same lead actor at the same time. W and WYWS simultaneously - doesn't that make your head spin?

@Elinor Not really. It's fine for me.

Though if I'm not careful I'll get hit by the Lee Jong-Suk Truck (TM). Hahahahahaha!

He - and Rowoon - seem to have the knack of choosing dramas that I love watching.

Starting:
My Demon: I have been bedridden, so needed extra dramas between the dramas.
Watching Continued
Park’s Marriage Contract This is fun, I think! Except I get genuinely worried about the SML actor: Is someone looking out for him and taking care of his health? Does anyone know that? I hope he is more okay than he looks. Also, I find Chaebol power fights boring, oh, so boring, and they should be kept absolutely in the background.
A Good Day to Be a Dog This week’s episode moved alng strangely slow, as through water. It was okay though, having a menace but at the same time, he just didn’t seem that frightening.
The Matchmakers: I almost flatlined this week, holding my breath in those long sorrow-filled silences. Thank God that other parts of the plot took up speed – I’m especially thinking about Mother-In-Law overhearing some crucial information … and apart from that, also case-closed engagement bubbles bursting left and right (boo-hoo, right?) I think a lot of domino bricks in this locked situation will fall soon.
I have recreated the prince's detective wall on ny fan wall.
https://www.dramabeans.com/members/CecilieDK/activity/1500744/
But isn't it super dangerous to have a wall like that when he probably has servants doing the cleaning?
This drama is still the best and most beautiful ever.
Goblin: I am watching it slowly. It is brilliant, but so, so very slow.
Finished:
Perfect Revenge Marriage: Finally, it’s over. Good people will be happy ever after, and bad people wil grind their evil teeth. ML will sneeze at a live event and lick his face clean for snot as far as his tongue can go, and then smear the rest with his hands. No Hanky-Panic!
Castaway Diva : That drama had a lot more to offer than I would have thought. It was an important counter-story to all the K-drama stories abot 1) Children who need to be punished, or they will never be nice people, 2) parents that are forgiven for even the most horrifying childhoods and 3) and about the allegedly flawless police officers who ought to be allowed to collect any information in any way they want, because “If you are not guilty, you have nothing to fear”.

SOUNDTRACK 2 has all of my attention with Noh Sang-hyun displaying all his magic - Pachinko was no fluke. I knew I had seen FL before, but had to look her up. I am glad she is not the pushy, self centred girl from Interest of Love.

I am laughing my way through BOYHOOD! Im Si-wan is brilliant as the underdog trying to take up the role of the powerful White Tiger when he is really just a little scaredy-cat. At least he can apply the history lesson well. Can't wait to see what happens with the appearance of the real White Tiger. Best comedy since Gauss Electronics for me.

The tango in MY DEMON was a hoot! The drama is getting better with every episode.

The comedy in PARK'S MARRIIAGE is still good, the villains unfortunately typical cardboard characters. Boardrooms in dramas are almost always boring - no exception here either. Love grandpa's hairstyle.

I wish DOG DAY did not change the direction of the story as much as it does with shaman etc. I would have preferred it, if it had followed the dog story more, maybe with Seo-won getting to know and like Hae-na in dog form and overcoming his dog phobia before kissing it. I miss the little cute dog as well. At least there is still Yul.

Fingers crossed WELCOME TO SAMDAL-Ri avoids the cheesiness of Hometown Chacha. There is a good chance with Shin Hye-sun as lead. Plus Ji Chang-wook, Kim Mi-kyung and, as the cherry on the cake, Aziz from Gauss!

The quiet TELL ME THAT YOU LOVE ME is a welcome contrast to the comedies. Fewer words, but lots of nuance and micro expressions.

A good time for watching k-drama just now.

What I am watching:

_ Park's Marriage show (4/12). I am really enjoying this drama and I'm looking forward to watching the new episodes today. It's a light and funny story so far. The OTP are giving me all the feels.

_ Sweet Home Season 1 (8/10). The first four episodes were a bit boring (imo), but everything gets better after the fifth episode and now I'm hooked. It's a good drama. I want to watch the second season in a row, but I already know the reviews aren't being as good this time...

_ Matchmakers (2/16). What a "hidden" gem! Thank you beanies. I wouldn't have started it without you. I'm loving the script, direction and characters.

What I have finished:

_ Perfect Marriage Revenge. A precious bean for me because it's been hard to get XD

_ Mirror of the witch. Such an INTENSE drama! Wow. Choral story with many interesting and even complex characters (I grew fond of many of them), great actings from all the cast, good OST (one of the songs is so pretty), decent FX, endearing moments... I swear that beautiful and so emotional ending gave me goosebumps. Is it a perfect show? It isn't, because it drags in some scenes, at some point I didn't understand where the plot was going (is this a staple in fantasy k-dramas?), but oh the good and extremely cute moments make up for the dark or hard ones.

Kdrama:

A bloody lucky day. The last 4 Episodes released today! Will watch it soon, even with the awful subs. I hope official english subs are out soon. I can't believe this still doesn't have official subs though. I thought we were past the age of waiting months for subs or worldwide releases :').

Night has come (does it have the typical Clichés of teen-surival dramas? Probably. But i've only seen all of us are dead before this so i am not used to those tropes at all) but i always loved playing werewolf/mafia with friends, so it's cool to have a survival drama based on this game. I have so many theories, i am waiting for one of my friends to catch up so we can talk about it :).

starting Miraculous Brothers today instead of finishing other shows (or even something productive LOL) i want some mystery with bromance and judging from the reviews this show delivers. Will check out 1-2 episodes and then decide if i keep watching.

anime:

started two new anime after having a break from them, i love both of them so much!! Started Apothecary Diaries on thursday and caught up to it the same day, so i am waiting for episode 10 today. I love mystery anime! And the fact that this has a chinese-inspired setting is so cool, it's really something unique. I love how supportive the female characters are in this. The main protagonist doesn't feel like a "i'm not like other girls" protagonist despite her quirks, because she respects the standpoint of all the other female characters. In many other dramas these female characters would have been portrayed as villains, but this anime really makes a point of the power dynamics in place here and how everyone is really just trying to survive and live a good life.

It's also has a pretty respectful portrail of prostitutes and concumbines and their often dangerous situation. I'm so happy about this!

The second anime i've started is Frieren: Beyond Journeys End. Started yesterday and almost caught up! I knew what kind of anime i was getting into, but the first two episodes really made me cry xD. I like how everyone can relate to the protagonist even though she is a 1000+ year old, cold fantasy elf. For her 100 years are nothing, but despite that she regrets not knowing her human friends better before they passed away. I think almost everyone has a person they regret not getting to know better before they passed.

It was a busy K-drama week with 3 series coming, 2 going, and 1 being summarily dropped. Plus the 3 already in play 😂!

live watching the fantasy fusion marriage trifecta

The Matchmakers
This is one heck of a gorgeous series. I'm completely engaged when watching it, losing track of everything else going on around me, breathlessly hanging on every word, every interaction, every little design element. Is it possible for this to be my favorite drama of 2023? Yes. Absolutely yes.

The Story of Park's Marriage Contract
This series may be a bit trope-y and predictable, but it's quite perfectly irresistible thanks to the fabulous cast and crew. It's funny. It's easy on the eyes. And I'm smiling the whole time I'm watching.

My Demon
Just wow. This series really hit its stride in episodes 3-4 and episode 5 was so fun. That tango scene was spectacular. The momentum now is excellent and I'm feeling more confident that this five star production team is going to fully deliver on this drama. It's fascinating that this isn't landing as well with the home audience. 💃🏻🕺🏻

started
Soundtrack #2
Love the story. Love our OTP. Love their chemistry. Love the music. Love the cinematography. Love that they're using the same restaurant from Soundtrack #1. Love. Love. Love. This series concept is a winner.

not yet started
I have yet to start Welcome to Samdalri, mostly because I'm on drama overload and this Wookie fan wants to be able to savor his new show rather than racing through it on the way to the next drama I'm trying to squeeze in over the weekend. Hopefully tomorrow though.

completed

Perfect Marriage Revenge
I can't remember the last time I watched a series that was so thoroughly and consistently satisfying from start to finish. Nothing stopped the train of this appealing l'il makjang, delivered with gusto by a terrific cast. You just can't beat a drama that states clearly what it is at the outset, and then delivers on it. Bravo! 👏👏👏

Castaway Diva
Despite being pretty critical of this series over its run, I did find the last two episodes bookended it well. The first kiss between Mokha and Kiho was perfect. And the last episode being devoted almost entirely to the positive forward movement of all the characters (well, minus one) was good. However, I still feel the writer relied too much on heavy handed manipulation of viewer emotions. The story lacked cohesion and flow, probably because of the obstacles created by some over-emphasized plot points. ANYWAY, my final opinion is slightly more positive than I anticipated. 😬

dropped
Moon in the Day
About 15 minutes into episode 11 and I realized I just couldn't take it anymore. Every aspect of this drama is weak and unsatisfying. Dropped with 4 eps to go... 4 hours I gleefully take back.

Wishing you all a great week!

Unpredictable Family: Omo omo omo!! The party just begun! We were having such a cute and uneventful week that I totally forgot how complicated things actually are. One reveal turned everything upside down.
Next week is gonna be madness. MADNESS.

The mom broke my heart completely. I can't even begin to understand how she most have felt. Her kids were practically next to her all this time.
And the sister's betrayal... she's just the worst. I don't want to see her ever again. She's so incredibly stupid and selfish it should be a crime. One slap won't make it, people should go to jail for stuff like this. Wtf is wrong with her.

The secret is gonna mess with everyone emotionally, and the romance is gonna be kinda awkward for a while, but I'm actually more worried about our FL's career. Her relationship with Seon Woo is way too complicated. I don't think they should work together. Eun Soo should ask for a letter of recommendation and go work somewhere else. She can't be the director's girlfriend, stepsis? and coworker/actress. It's just too much.

😔 The smiles are over. I feel like angstland and tearsdom is gonna last for like another 50 episodes. No way this can be fixed in only 20 episodes. We also have Mi Guk and Ga Ram's story with the most mom, the weird love triangle and Ha Young putting a one woman show. I just hope that now that Eun Hyuk won't have time for her drama she wakes up from delu-wonderland and gives her attention to him. She's the only one that can give him comfort rn.

I watched other dramas but who cares about those.

The smiles are not over, but now they will be mixed with tears and there has to be angst. But that ride can be and will still be fun. I have a suspicion that we are about to meet 'the most mom' so that Mi-guk can have his heart broken in order to be able to move on. Ga-ram already has and has a good idea as to who should be her mom instead.

I am hoping that this will include Eun-A giving "mom" a piece of her mind for her shabby treatment of Mi-guk- and thereby realize that he is supposed to be her man instead (because he is the perfect balance to her passionate and mercurial self).

I would like that.
I don't think Mi Guk would actually tell her how much she's hurting him. He would defend Ga Ram but not himself. So it would be nice to see Eun Ah stand up for him.
