Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching (December 2, 2023)
by DB Staff
So, what are we all watching this week?
What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Currently covering: Perfect Marriage Revenge
A Good Day to Be a Dog: Okay, I really liked the kiss scene. The human one. They’re so cuuuuuuute.
The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract: In the battle of marriage contract premieres last weekend, this one won for me. Episode 1 had the classic K-drama vibes I love so much, and I’m looking forward to stockpiling a few episodes and then catching up. May the tropes be with you.

Currently covering: Vigilante
Castaway Diva: How is this show already almost over? I’m in that place where I need to see how it ends (by which I mean, I need to see these brave kids-turned-adults finally happy together and free of their pasts), but I also don’t want it to end at all. For a show that involves some pretty dark themes, it’s such a heartwarming place to spend two hours of every weekend, and I’m going to miss it a lot.
MAMA Awards: Okay, so I didn’t watch the whole thing, only select performances. But I just want to say that we got prerelease performances of new songs from both TVXQ and ATEEZ, and both made me very, very happy.

I also watched Mama and I watched Melon Music Awards as well but the latter was way better. Mama looked a bit cheap tbh. Bit stage with augmented reality elements. just weird. Melon had a real set that looked cozy, but Inspire arena looks way smaller than I expected. also the camera work was better for MMA
I am only watching My Demon and though it is quite entertaining I wish it had more substance. am I asking too much... probably.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason DB isn't covering My man is Cupid at all? It's on a major streamer and it didn't even get a mention in any articles, not the announcement, not the premiere, even the list of current airing shows that was in the "Night has Come" premiere thread omitted it

Maybe cause it's not big name actors? Or maybe it's not a big project getting buzz?
Like I know there's another show coming up that has cast of predominently young rookie actors but I don't know if it's considered a big project.

Castaway Diva: it's over and what am I suppose to with myself now? I really liked this show and I still like talking about it. I think it's cool to rewatch and see if you can pick up on anything new on rewatch (for me I initially didn't notice Ki Ho and Mok Ha were the only students wearing long sleeves).
Perfect Marriage Revenge: I think I chuckled the most during the final episodes than I did during the entire series cause the mental gymnastics these characters do is just amazing.
Vigilante: I did find myself comparing it to Taxi Driver towards the end. I did like it but I also found it kinda lacking.
My man is Cupid: if anyone remembers anything about me, I would think it would be that I'm not into romance so why then did I watch this show? Curiousity haha. I thought the premise seemed cute and funny. The actual execution was meh to me. I could very clearly see how and why things were supposed to be funny but it didn't land for me. The male lead also isn't charismatic to me. Once again, it feels like one of those moments when I understand what people mean by the actors having chemistry or being charismatic or the facial expressions being important to getting engaged in the drama even though I can't explain it.
Welcome to Samdar-ri: yet another romcom but again, I was curious. I like the enemies to more trope as well as the bickering and it seemed this show has that. I like when it seems like the actor is having fun and that's what I came to mind seeing Ji Chang Wook in the premiere episodes.

Castaway Diva : I liked the last episode and forgot about most of my complains about this show.
Vigilante : I don't regret watching it cause it was so exciting ,but couldn't feel for characters and their motivations were unclear.
Welcome to Samdalri : Really liked the tone and characters. But it feels weird. I think I'm watching 4 dramas at once: Our Blues, Our Beloved Summer, Hometown Cha Cha Cha and Forecasting Love and Weather.
My Demon: I'm tired of story of sneaky chaebol relatives that don't care about anything but money. Also I'm not interested in demon plot. DROPPED
My Man is Cupid:I like Jang Dong-yoon and I LOVE Nana, still couldn't stand even 15 minutes of it. Boring and childish. DROPPED
Tell Me That You Love Me: So beautiful and sad.
