Go Yoon-jung

  • Go Yoon-jung (Moving) is the woman of the hour this week, signing on for the lead role in tvN’s new medical drama The Not Yet Wise Resident Life (roughly translated), a spin-off show from the Hospital Playlist series. Slated to broadcast early next year, the original dream team PD Shin Won-ho and writer Lee Woo-jung will be taking on creative roles, passing the production reins to PD Lee Min-soo (Heartbeat) and writer Kim Song-hee, who worked under Lee Woo-jung in previous projects. [YTN]

  • In the meantime, Go Yoon-jung is also fielding an offer to reunite with the Hong Sisters (Alchemy of Souls) in their latest project Can This Love Be Translated, potentially joining Kim Sun-ho (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) who is on the casting table as well. The rom-com is still in the planning stages with PD Yoo Young-eun (Red Heart) attached to direct. [Osen]

  • A shadowy new poster and video teaser have dropped for ENA’s upcoming Evilive, where we’re pushed across the boundary into Kim Young-kwang’s (Call It Love) ~evil~ world along with Shin Ha-kyun (Yonder) and Shin Jae-ha (Taxi Driver 2). Premiering next month on October 14, the noir will be airing in a new Saturday-Sunday slot. [Sports Donga]
  • In stark contrast, JTBC hits us with a splash of fun colors in their new character posters for Strong Woman Kang Nam-soon. Starring Lee Yumi (Mental Coach Jegal), Kim Jung-eun (My Dangerous Wife), and Kim Hae-sook (Revenant) as well as Ong Sung-woo (Would You Like a Cup of Coffee) and Byun Woo-seok (Moonshine), the fantasy will be coming to our screens on October 7. [JTBC]

  • Speaking of the almighty Kim Hae-sook, reports confirmed that we’ll be seeing her soon in another fantasy: the drama remake of the 2014 film Miss Granny. Taking on the lead role shared by Shim Eun-kyung (Money Game) and Na Moon-hee (Navillera) in the original, Kim’s younger counterpart is Jung Ji-so (The Glory). With Jinyoung (Police University) reprising his role as the grandson, the series is currently in the midst of filming. [My Daily]
  • Over on MBN, the promos continue for A Perfect Marriage with a new bundle of stills from the first script reading. Launching on October 28 in the weekend slot, the melodrama stars Jung Yoo-min (Celebrity), Sung Hoon (Woori the Virgin), Kang Shin-hyo (Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun), and Jin Ji-hee (Penthouse 3) among others. I'm not a fan of the ten-year age gap between Go Youn-jung and Kim Seon-ho, but thank goodness Son Suk-ku turned this down.

I’m excited for both GHY’s projects. One with the HP team sounds interesting and has potential, and the one with BB KSH, no word is needed. I just need him on the screen. Come what may.

I still can't move on from Go Yoon-jung and Lee Jae Wok couple in Alchemy of Soul that I don't even watch Go Yoon-jung other drama because I haven't found her other pair that can replace Jae Wok.

I got off the wagon because of My dearest and Behind Your Touch with Shooting stars thrown in between (which I am dropping - it's sh*t show when watched with A+ pieces like MD and BYT). So will be moving onto the Moving wagon soon.

Ooh only if the time turners weren’t smashed, we K-drama addicts would be a happy bunch!

1) It doesn't sound like a good idea. Everything looks a little bit downgraded from the original one : the PD, the writer, the actors...

2) A lot of names have been attached to this project without any confirmation... It would be nice to see KSH to make his comeback in a drama.

In this specific case I suggest SHPU (shirtless handstand push-up) guy.

What is SLS?

Second Lead Syndrome. This is where you actually want the Second lead to get the girl, think he is far sexier and the better man, etc.

Or maybe, just maybe, this whole time we've been talking about Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)? I hadn't made that connection. We all want to be very soapy, sudsy clean when we watch k-dramas....??!??

Hahahahahaha!! Soapy....Sudsy...that's giving me a vivid image of something totally different and it's not very, ahem! clean......
I just realized I am still not completely used to the K-drama jargon.
The trailer to be honest is doing nothing. After giving us an epic romance in SWDBS, this one will have VERY large shoes to fill. The ML looks insipid and that's never a good sign. I like @isagc idea of VS LOL!

@minniegupta1 Sorry! I didn’t mean to be exclusive with my terminology. Second Lead Syndrome is a many-layered thing (in fact I believe Seon-ha is currently inventing a new layer), but I usually mean when someone wants the female lead to end up with the second male lead instead of the male lead. Because he is the better man/actor/person/swordsman (what? I value skills, ok?) or they think it would be a better match or whatever.

In this sense, I pretty much never have SLS, but I do sometimes find the second male lead more interesting as a character than the male lead, and some folks include that in the definition too. I didn’t mean to knock the ML for this drama, I know almost nothing about him, but that poster of the villain looks so cool!

This is the less creative term in the world, but It would be VS? Villain syndrome.

LOL! hmm, maybe AVS? Anti-villian syndrome? or possibly AHS, anti-hero syndrome?

AHS....LOL!!

PHS would be hard to replace by the best out there, so where did they grab this lackluster guy from? And much as I like older generations getting meaty roles, I don't think I can devote 20 hours wathcing a couple of swashbuckling grandmas and an insipid hero help a woman no matter how strong go after the only good thing so far - an audaciously gorgeous villain - in a series that comes with such high expectations for a scintillating romance.

Ok, but anti-hero syndrome could be interpreted as being in favor of the anti-hero in dramas that have them (or in general I suppose), which is a legitimate category of main character.

Maybe antagonist syndrome (AGS)? Or just Bad Guy Syndrome (BGS)? Liking VS and BBS too @isagc and @attiton !

😂 Of course how could we forget to include “hot”?! That’s the crux of our whole issue!

3

@jls943 Skills all the way LOL!

In any case I am waiting for my PHS fix, so the hot baddie is a bonus because I am sure being a baddie he will get a lot of screen time.
Come to think of it, SWDBS also had a very hot baddie, and a super hot SL too. It's just that Min min whirlwind was too overpowering.

Yeeeeaaah, but the baddie was too creepy to be legitimately attractive (I was actually unsettled more because they made him a good-looking person), and the SML was too annoying to be a contender (when Min-hyuk told him off at the end? Swoon.). My eyes were plenty occupied *ahem* elsewhere.
