Cop and butt-touching psychic in new Behind Your Touch teaser

In a premise that only a K-drama is capable of pulling off, JTBC’s Behind Your Touch (affectionately known behind the scenes at DB as Behind Your Butt) tells the story of a woman with psychic powers — but only when she touches her subject’s hind quarters. And in case you were wondering, she’s a veterinarian, and yes, her powers also extend to animals.

Our heroine, whose name is Bong Ye-boon, is played by Han Ji-min (Yonder). In the teaser, her full weirdness is on display as he introduces herself… in an interrogation room. We learn her name and occupation, and then we see in flashback the encounter that caused her arrest. On a bus, she oh-so-stealthily tried to touch another passenger’s butt — but our detective hero Moon Jang-yeol is quick to cuff her. Played by Lee Min-ki (My Liberation Notes), Jang-yeol is an ace detective from Seoul who’s new to town. And he definitely isn’t buying Ye-boon’s explanation for her bus behavior. “The thing is…” she says, “I’m a psychic.”

The teaser also gives us a peek at our second lead and convenience store worker played by Suho (Rich Man). Backlit with sparkly lights to show us how Ye-boon feels about him, we see her checking him out when he brings his pet to her clinic.

Finally, the teaser wraps up with a meta interview with Ye-boon and Jang-yeol. The interviewer asks if they’re dating, and Ye-boon cracks up and asks, “Have you seen his face!? No way.”

While the butt-touching premise still has a giant question mark around it — will they be able to pull this off? — if there is anyone who can do it, it’s this cast, and this team. Led by PD Kim Seok-yoon (My Liberation Notes, The Light in Your Eyes) and PD Choi Bo-yoon, the writing team includes Lee Nam-kyu (The Light in Your Eyes, This Week My Wife Will Have an Affair), Oh Bo-hyun, and Kim Da-hee.

Behind Your Touch premieres on JTBC on August 12 following King the Land and will be streaming on Netflix.

Y'all. I'm not sure about this one. I want it to pull off being wacky and fun, but it seems awfully likely that I'll just think the FL deserves to be arrested for assaulting people. I hope I'm wrong.
