Would You Rather #19

In dramaland, leading ladies often find themselves torn between the love of two equally attractive men — a choice none of us would want to make! But what if you did have to pick between the frustrating lawyer and the adorkable police officer? In this weekly feature, we ask you to make the difficult decisions — and we aren’t limiting our options to dreamy oppas.

Vote via the poll and feel free to use the comments to explain exactly how you were able to choose! So, Beanies:

WOULD YOU RATHER #18 RESULTS

The results for #18 were really close! At one point when I checked in they were 50-50! Sometime after that, though, the option to “scare off your BFF’s blind dates” took the lead — a very slight lead. Overall, most of the comments indicated that this was one of the few prompts that people had a hard time voting for because they’d actually enjoy doing both options.

Since most people found both answers appealing, everyone seemed to have to stretch to find a reason one was slightly better than the other. In the end, people ruled against being fake-married with their BFF because it’s a “long con,” as @marysadanaga put it, and @jls943 and @parichita agreed that maintaining the farce for a long period of time would be more difficult and require more dedication. For @gikata, the longevity of a fake marriage — and all it would entail — would be excessively draining, and that’s not even factoring in the fear of discovery. @xpressemu, for one, doesn’t want to constantly deal with the lie or always be on the lookout, worrying about being recognized and having to go into spouse-mode. No, it would be far more “fun to be bat sh*t cray-cray” every now and then and scare away your BBF’s dates.

The majority of commenters expressed the same sentiments, agreeing that it would be exceptionally fun to don a fake persona and drive off your friends’ unwanted suitors. @elinor was actually so enthusiastic that I think she’d love to make date-crashing a career (but obviously she’d do it for free if it was for a friend).

However, nearly the same amount of people chose to fake-marry their BFF, but not as many of them stuck around to argue in support of their choice. Of those who commented, though, the reasons for choosing this option varied more based on personal preferences. @mmmmm, for example, thought it would be the easier option because she’s already frequently mistaken as the romantic partner of some of her male friends. @shinayame, however, looked at it from the angle that being a pretend spouse would likely involve cohabitation, and if the BFF’s house is as nice as the ones associated with K-drama contract marriages, well that’s a mighty appealing perk that’s hard to ignore.

I am all for practicality. parachuting to work. parachuting for no reason is pointless imo.
I dont have a drivers´ licence. I dont even ride a bicycle not to mention cars. I hate wheels.

You hate…wheels? I mean, that sorta sounds like an excellent past trauma throughline for one of our dramas.

Person, menaced by rogue wheels throughout their youth, grows up and dedicates their life to taking revenge on all simple machines, including levers and pulleys…

What on earth?!? 😆

As for the choice above: I have a paralyzing fear of heights and there is simply no way I'd ever be able to skydive, so building cars it is - I have no interest in automotive engineering but I do like to drive VERY fast in my Kia Niro electric.

I hate vehicles. If I spend more than 15min in one, I feel like screaming. I like the wheels tho, they're pretty.

Easy choice: build and drive fast cars. I have always like driving cars ( a long interstate highway drive is still relaxing), car culture and automotive performance. But the younger generation is not very interested in it. Based on my nieces observations, nearly half of American high schoolers do not take driver's education or get a license. I guess they think Uber is going to be around forever.

None. I love...my life.
Neither do I want to end up on the wrong building, or a water body nor land in the hospital for over speeding.

Truth be told : both are great shots of adrenaline and dopamine. And the cars appeal to me more.

In 'Gaus Electronics' a character parachuted in to work only to be hit by a car after he landed in front of the building.

I’m going cars, because the appeal of building something that can take me to work fast and safely and that is self-driving is irresistible.
And while we are at it, if it could also reduce car sickness, it’ll be great. Let me roll up my sleeves, I am ready to start my own car factory.

I can’t parachute. I’d be distracted half way through and would land on my face while wondering about something pointless like whether Pokémons wear pants.

I inherited a total zero of my grandpa's engineering skills, never bothered learning how to drive (which I now regret deeply and think about fixing given the opportunity) and with my fear of heights parachuting doesn't exactly sound all that exciting either - other than maybe doing it just once to prove to myself that I can do it. I do like fast cars and speed in general though, it's really fun))) So neither, but option 2's chances were higher.

Much as I detest driving, it's a skill I would absolutely suggest everyone should have, much like swimming. Never know when it can save a life. In today's world, it's not even a luxury anymore. As they said, in yesteryear, everyone had horses and rich had cars. Today everyone has cars and only the rich have horses....so go for it. Interestingly, I loved the thematic representation of freedom through driving in 'The Glory'.

Well, I know basics of horse riding to save my face a little))) And quite a few other survival skills... It's funny actually what life throws at you when you the least expect it, forcing to learn fast things you could've never imagine.

Well, it doesn't say I HAVE TO DRIVE THEM FAST :)

And I don't really want to hobble in on crutches on my 2nd day of work with a sprained ankle or broken leg.

As someone who is extremely risk averse, especially when it comes to falling great distances or moving in death machines at rapid speeds, just thinking of both of these makes my palms sweat. I would only make a choice here if my boss was named Hobson.

Terror-induced sweat would be detrimental to my first-day-of-work impression, so I’ll take the option that allows me to keep my feet (or wheels) on the ground. Bonus — maybe I’d finally learn how to use a stick shift!

Use a stick shift - haha! That tickled my funny bone. My husband's long standing dream is to teach me stick shift, and here I am, where I don't even put my car in sports mode.

Sigh! Neither. BUT - I will go with cars.

I hate heights, so parachuting is out. I am a total adranaline junkie and maybe I will do it if I have to prove something, but just to do it for fun? Nay. I do not like driving at all, BUT....I am married to a car fanatic so building cool cars would be such a cool way to show off to him.

In my city people drive awful so I really wouldn't like to build one for them or drive one. Or just be near one. 😂

Parachuting seems kinda exhausting and scary. And I have no sense of direction so I would probably end up god knows where.

... Can't I just walk? 😂😂😂

Fact: Having a car whether a fast one or the normal type is pretty useful giving one the freedom to travel anywhere. We can go for a picnic, to the beach for leisure, travel long distances to visit another town or whatever. Having a fast car does not mean one has to drive it fast as in most countries speed limits are set. On the other hand who in their right mind would take an aircraft up in the air just to parachute down to their place of work?

I can build fast cars, but who will buy them here? The traffic jams never stop. My office which is 30 mins in early morning becomes 1 hour 30 mins in the evening office time. Who are these people who drive fast cars to work? Where do they live? Is the space safe if there are not any people around?

Despite all the above question, I will still choose the fast cars because parachuting is not my cup of tea.

Cars for me though my engineering skills are nil. I'd need to enlist the help of my robotics/engineering/electronics graduate daughter. I'm afraid of heights but love a fast sports car! Used to drive an RX7, what a rush that was. Stick shift, even better, I miss driving with the sense of control and power of a manual transmission. Electric vehicle with a stick shift, is that possible? Open curving county road? Ooooh perfect! Parachuting on the other hand likely would not end well. Aforementioned height phobia plus lack of steering, not for me.

Heights are scary, though I would rather parachute than have to climb down. At least with the parachute, there's only one place to put your feet! On the other hand, making things from scratch is exciting and fun. I don't know about the driving part, but the designing and building with a team part sounds awesome!

This is really tough. I'm afraid of heights so a parachute isn't a good idea. But it's only for the first day of work, so I think I can handle it. Hopefully, like Ma-tan, I will get chauffeured in an empty bus from day 2 onwards.

For the fast cars: I don't know how to drive and I have whatever is the driving equivalent of "two left feet". I feel like I would be fired immediately for destroying work property.

Parachuting into work on my first day would give a wrong impression : I do not have the means to do it frequently.
I do not have issues with cars, so I'll take the engeneering job (though in real life those who build the car are not the same as those who test it).

My friend says that she would take the parachute drive : "once she'll get over her vertigo the view must be nice. And it does not really matter if she arrives on the neighour building."
Upon seeing the results (25% parachute at the moment) she add "since there are so few person choosing the parachute, maybe I can have Junho as diving instructor".
