Junho falls for Yoon-ah’s smile in King the Land

Yay, more Junho (The Red Sleeve Cuff) and Yoon-ah (Big Mouth) goodness! JTBC’s upcoming rom-com King the Land has released yet another teaser, and it’s chock-full of adorable bickering and nostalgic tropes.

The teaser starts off with our chaebol Gu Won (Junho) looking suave, as expected of the heir to the King conglomerate. Whether he’s at a photoshoot or simply on the way to work, Won transforms every path he walks on into a runway. (That voiceover going, “He’s so cool”? That’s me right there.)

Naturally, the hotel employees at King the Land are ready to greet their new boss with a bright smile, and that includes Chun Sa-rang (Yoon-ah). Except she’s already started off on the wrong foot with Won, which means he isn’t having any of her flattery. Won has absolutely zero tolerance for fake smiles, and he doesn’t hesitate to make that absolutely clear to Sa-rang.

Well, that’s his problem — Sa-rang’s on the clock, and putting on a professional smile is an integral part of being an excellent hotelier. She tells Won just as much, and I love how ready she is to stand up for herself. Bring on the banter!

It seems like I’m not the only one who finds Sa-rang’s antics endearing, because she might just be growing on Won too. When secretary Ahn Se-ha (Idol: The Coup) wonders if Won might have a crush on Sa-rang, Won immediately bolts to his feet. “I told you that’s not the case!” Well, the lady doth protest too much, methinks.

Won’s secretary certainly isn’t far off the mark, if those gentle gazes Won is casting in Sa-rang’s direction are any indication. Cue a montage of heart-fluttering scenes, where Won finds himself mesmerized by Sa-rang’s beauty, then sharing a dreamlike dance by a fountain.

Of course, no rom-com worth its while is complete without comedy hijinks, and we get a decent dose of that too. Just as Won declares that he’ll protect Sa-rang — swoon! — an animal squawks in the distance, and Won immediately cowers behind her. Ha, it’s going to be fun watching them rough it out in the great outdoors.

Helmed by PD Im Hyun-wook (Reflection of You) and written by Choi Rom, King the Land premieres on June 17.

I guess I'll have to watch this one before making a choice. It looks so good on paper but the teasers ain't selling it for me yet, at least this current one.

That pouty mouth has to go quickly though.
