Premiere Watch: Stealer: The Treasure Keeper
by missvictrix
Time slot: Wednesday-Thursday
Broadcaster: tvN
Genre: Action, comedy
Episode count: 12
Reasons to watch: Are you ready for an action comedy? The promos for Stealer: The Treasure Keeper seem to promise they’re going all in — from stink suits to one-liners. With a really fun cast lineup up of Joo-won, Jo han-chul, Lee Joo-woo, Kim Jae-won, Lee Deok-hwa, and more, the drama has all the pieces in place for a quintessential caper, from the rich evil baddie, to the hero with a hidden identity.
I don’t know about you, but I could use a good laugh, and I’m hoping this drama brings the fun instead of getting too serious about its seemingly predictable plot (I mean, I think we are all a little bored of evil chaebol chairmen with no moral scruples). In its favor, dramaland has quite a handful of enjoyable caper-like tales that have leaned heavily on the team dynamics (Mad Dog, Lookout, etc.), and I’m down for more of that. So slap Joo-won in a skunk suit with an impish grin and propensity for danger, and I’m pretty much sold.
TL;DR: Joo-won and a crew of thieves called Karma go all Robin Hood and steal from the rich to give cultural artifacts back to the people

It's been a long time since I've seen Joo-won in a drama. I'm looking forward to this. With only 12 episodes, I think it's going to be fast-paced with all the comedy hijinks.

How is it that I have availability angst for basically everything I want to watch right now? Does anyone know where this will stream? So so excited for it, just hoping it pops up somewhere unexpected.
Also, Lee Joo-woo is really channeling her inner Britney Spears c. 2000 and it... looks about the same as it did then.

I don't see this streaming anywhere, has anyone found an outlet in the US?

I just checked, and it's not on Netflix, Viki, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, Paramount+, or HBOmax (I'm in the US). Unless it's under a different name, I don't think I can find it. The wikipedia page says it's streaming on TVING, but maybe they didn't partner with anyone else this time? So disappointing.

Frustrating. Maybe there will be a delay. I've seen that on Viki in particular where there is just a delay before the show comes. There are just so many dramas, that I may just move on. Ah well.

This showing on an exclusive site that no one can access (without more subscription woes) has got to ease up a bit or my to watch list will dwindle in unbelief that I can't be a rich and mighty chaebol to pull the right strings and pay off the right baddies so we can actually watch these shows that really look good. big sigh. even the dark side is getting harder to access. I need some Joo Won!

I meant the Amazon Prime or all the other sites that require a membership. I am tired of all the "hands in the pie" of more and more companies getting into offering kdramas only if you have membership to their site. Believe me, if I knew of a good place I would tell everyone about it.

I have access to Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix, Viki, and Kocowa (what a ripoff!) but can't find Stealer on any of them...even though one website said it would be on Viki. I just don't get it, why is it so difficult to watch kdrama in the US?

I am hoping Viki picks it up in the US since Viu got the license.

@mayhemf, Blue, TRACER eventually made its way to Viki US so perhaps STEALER will take the same route. Fingers crossed.

Fwiw on availability:
This is the final paragraph of an article in today’s “The Korea Herald”:
“Cable channel tvN’s “Stealer: The Treasure Keeper,” which premiered Wednesday, airs at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Episodes are also available via Tving, Viu and Amazon Prime Video on the same day.”

STEALER really wasn’t on my radar but looking at it now if has a feel like it could be HEALER’s brother if you get my meaning. One actor from HEALER is in the cast of STEALER: ML Jo Han-chul. (In HEALER he was the police detective that had a thing for Jo Min-ja).
If availability is resolved I will probably jump onboard.
