Drama viewership ratings for the week of April 24-30, 2023

Oasis ends its run just barely missing double digits, while Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 3 hits 13.8% right out of the gate with its premiere week (taking with it whatever little wind was in Joseon Attorney’s sails). Likewise, Doctor Cha holds onto its double digits, still going (and growing) strong.

Meanwhile, tvN is seeing a small but steady decline each week for both Family and Stealer (ouch), and Pandora finished its disappointing run without any last-episode bumps.

Why the ratings are so different for Oasis and Joseon Attorney?
Because there are enough tensions and epicness in Oasis, whereas JA is missing the thing that makes a Joseon historical drama ticks, the grativitas, the emotions, the conflicts, the political strives. The Red Sleeve, Under the Queen's Umbrella and The King of Tears managed to do all these for things. As for the latest medical dramas, they are indeed amazing, as their main leads are not strangers to the K-dramaland and were legendary on their own.

Loved Oasis, really held my attention. The cast was perfect!
I keep falling asleep watching Joseon Attorney. I can't feel the feels with the OTP.

Oasis and JA are completely different dramas. Oasis is a period drama dealing with friendship, love and family of the 3 leads in the 80's - 90's SK, but JA is a saeguk. I do not know about JA, but the acting in Oasis was good.

Disney + is a mess. I wish it was on Netflix or viki.
This is not the kind of show I want to binge later.

No huge surprises here.

I did think while watching "The Good Bad Mother" that it's the kind of drama likely to do well with domestic audiences. Curious to see if that prediction ends up being correct. I certainly am enjoying this drama, even though the ML's adult life is way more problematic than I initially anticipated.

I dropped "Oasis" after about five episodes, and don't regret it. It definitely had a very soapy feel that could attract viewers, but I'm still a bit surprised it finished as strongly as it did.

Still feel bad for "Bora." It's actually a pretty good show with some strong writing despite the bumpy start and some over-the-top broken hearted antics from the FL. I would never expect it to be a hit, but would have thought it could capture at least 30% of "Crash Course's" numbers.

It looks like ENA shows pretty much have low ratings historically. (Strangers again, delivery ghost taxi?, LifS, Unlock by boss all had <2%).

This week it will be good if Bora reaches 2%. With the breakup behind her I hope it does get better for a wider audience.

Me too. I quite like it now the water shed tears are hopefully behind her (and us).

Yes, Oasis was dramatic at times, but it did not bore the audience and managed to keep the anticipation each week, plus the leads are seasoned actors, so it is not a surprise that the drama did well for those of us who completed the drama.

Dr. Cha has given me the standard KBS weekender vibes which may be why it is doing so well.

The real has come is only doing so-so for a weekender.

Dr. Cha deserves its ratings.
