There are a few scenes along the way that will give you the tingles, but overall this is a pretty heavy one. The smoldering stares aside, I spent a lot of time just stressing out over the will-he-or-won't-she question. I'm trying to write without spoilers - but if you get frustrated with mismatched pairs, you will hate this show.
By episode 5 or so, i was fast-forwarding a lot. Then I'd have to go back and watch what I skipped to catch the conversation or scene that they were talking about now... it was maddening until I decided that I didn't care and just kept moving forward. The directors did a good job of passing the characters' stress and anxiety on to the viewers, without making it impossible to watch (I'm looking at you, Little Women).
I wasn't exactly happy with the ending, but that's okay. Life does not always end up the way we intend/prefer.

I loved it. And I mean, LOVED it. But I'm not making the mistake of recommending it to anyone, because it's very much acquired taste. I've seen a lot of words thrown around about this one - boring, frustrating, infuriating, slow, unfathomable - and to someone who isn't charmed but what underlies the plot, that's probably what the show is. But if you're looking for a drama about beautifully-characterised people who make just the STUPIDEST mistakes in their quests for fulfillment, then look no further!
I've written in-depth recaps and analyses this show a lot of you just want to be spoiled.

Episodes 5-8: https://crabbyfordramas.wordpress.com/2023/01/18/the-interest-of-love-5-8-thoughts/
Episodes 9-12: https://crabbyfordramas.wordpress.com/2023/01/31/the-interest-of-love-episodes-9-12-thoughts/
My post on episodes 13-16 is still a work in progress, but it's safe to say I'm very happy with them.
Conclusions: beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and if this doesn't sound like it's for you, it's probably not (unless you think it's a workplace romance drama, which it most certainly isn't).

WHO WOULD LIKE THIS? If you like thoughtful, slower paced, character-driven shows with a wistful tone but don't need for the narrative to always be straightforward and linear with a clear purpose, you might really enjoy this show.
IT SAYS IT'S A ROMANCE, BUT IS IT? This isn't a typical kdrama romance at all. In fact, I would describe it as an intimate look at the love lives of four characters who may or may not be in love with each other. It's also very focused on class, gender, and other social issues, and doesn't offer any tidy resolutions.
IF IT'S NOT A ROMANCE, WHAT IS IT? The narrative has a dreamy quality to it; even though many of the professional and personal struggles the characters face are true-to-life, the style and tone of the story don't fully line up with slice-of-life. It feels very much like a show adapted from a novel, which is exactly what it is. Some of the dialogue is meaty and interesting, and other conversations seem deliberately vague and ambiguous, with a lot of pauses in between sentences. You will also feel for these characters, but may not ultimately like or understand them very much. So what genre is this then? Modern Day Character Study of Young Professionals Living and Loving in Seoul, I guess.
IS THIS A HAPPY OR SAD DRAMA? It's bittersweet. It's not the type of show to induce a lot of tears, but there aren't a ton of warm and fuzzy moments, either. I found it very watchable, even though it never really won my heart.
ANY PARTING WORDS? The FL is unconventional and sometimes maddeningly opaque, so don't go into this with the expectation that you'll immediately get or like her. All the actors are very good; YYS probably cries the most, but they all get a chance to show a range of emotions. I imagine this is the type of project actors find very satisfying because they get to take a deep dive and breathe life into a character. This didn't always translate to scenes and a story viewers will uniformly love, but I still appreciate the obvious hard work everyone put into this drama.

I rated this drama a 10, because I loved it to bits. Does it deserve a 10? Objectively probably not, but I LOVED it.
Don’t get into this drama thinking you will like any character because you will probably won’t. In fact all characters are as unlikeable as relatable. Raise your hand if you’ve been in that situation in which you stopped yourself from doing or saying something in case you will lose that same something 🙋🏼♀️. Even so I ended up liking female lead a lot. Much more than the rest of the characters.
Don’t think this is a melo or a romance. Don’t think you will understand characters or find them not frustrating. The drama is frustrating and moves things inside you not in the happy way.
And even so I rate it a 10.
Give it a try, and if you love it after episode 4 no matter what the outcome is you will enjoy it.
