Lee Jia is faced with Pandora’s box in first teaser

The first teaser for tvN’s revenge drama Pandora may be a short one, but it’s certainly eye-catching and gorgeously lit. Lee Jia (Penthouse 3) stars as Hong Tae-ra, who’s the center of attention at tonight’s champagne party, clad in an elegant ivory gown.

As the guests raise their glasses in a toast to Tae-ra, adoring husband Pyo Jae-hyun — played by Lee Sang-yoon (One the Woman) — gazes fondly at her. There’s unfettered affection written across his face, and it’s reciprocated by Tae-ra’s tender smile.

The sound of a champagne bottle popping catches Tae-ra’s attention, and when she whirls around in its direction, her bejeweled earring falls to the floor. As she bends down to pick it up, ominous captions fill the screen — “My perfect life was someone’s scheme.”

Suddenly, the room is empty save for Tae-ra, whose gaze flits around in trepidation. She turns around, and in a neat transition, the soft lighting morphs into gloomy shadows. Tae-ra’s alone in an abandoned, decrepit room, and the ornate decorations from before have been replaced with creepy paintings and overgrown vines.

It’s a chilling omen foretelling Tae-ra’s fall from grace. Though Tae-ra enjoys a lavish, dreamlike life with her capable husband and precious daughter, she’s missing memories of her past. When that Pandora’s box cracks open, the realization that she’s been manipulated into her current position will dawn upon her — and so will the urge to exact revenge upon her puppetmasters.

We don’t get to see the rest of the cast in this teaser, but filling our supporting roles are Jang Hee-jin (The Red Sleeve Cuff) as anchorwoman Go Hae-soo, Park Ki-woong (The King’s Affection) as chaebol Jang Do-jin, and Bong Tae-gyu (Shooting Stars) as hacker Gu Sung-chan.

Directed by Choi Young-hoon (One the Woman) and written by Hyun Ji-min, Pandora is slated for a March 11 premiere.

This start right here shows how rom coms are being promoted and the end is the harsh reality of what we are actually given when we start watching them! Why can’t all dramas be this explicit re the themes and mood of the drama so we can make an informed choice about what we are committing our precious time to.
Thanks to this promo, I can say I won’t be watching this one without any sense of uncertainty.

Is it me or does everyone look super fuzzy, as in way over-filtered? It’s distracting.

I've found this a lot over the last year or so with actors who are getting a bit older and demand a filter to hide it. Especially when their characters are supposed to be younger than they are. Pancake makeup and a soft filter and the whole thing starts to look fuzzy like that.

I keep squinting harder and trying to bring them into focus, it’s no help for all my own wrinkles! 🤣

This supposed to be titled Penthouse 4 : I Came Back Alive 😂🤣😭

Half the cast is the same, the color palette is the same bling-bling gold, and I swear there will be murder mayhem to start the whole nuts.

Also : Lee Ji Ah holds a gun in the poster, just like in the last episode of Penthouse.
