Yoo Yeon-seok falls for Moon Ga-young in The Interest of Love

Is it possible to find love… at a bank? JTBC’s upcoming drama The Interest of Love (previously Understanding of Love) says yes, and their latest teaser gives us a hint of what’s in store for our romantic bank personnel.

The teaser opens with Yoo Yeon-seok (Narco-Saints) narrating that every man can’t help but fall for Moon Ga-young (Link: Eat, Love, Kill). Yoo plays Ha Sang-soo, the chief of KCU Bank’s Yeongpo branch, who isn’t subtle about how enamored he is by Moon’s beauty. And when Sang-soo’s fallen for someone, he doesn’t hold back. Through a montage, we see Sang-soo being forthcoming about approaching Moon’s Ahn Soo-young and asking her out. Soo-young’s a senior KCU Bank teller, which suggests an office romance on the horizon.

Luckily for Sang-soo, Soo-young seems equally taken by his charms — that is, until she begins to doubt the certainty of his feelings, and vice versa. See, she has a particular aversion to ambiguous relationships, but that very confusion she dislikes soon inserts its way into her life. When it’s revealed that she packed lunch for fellow co-worker Jung Jong-hyun, played by Jung Ga-ram (Love Alarm 2), Sang-soo isn’t all too pleased.

At the end of his patience, Sang-soo confronts Soo-young with the declaration that she ought to know how he feels about her — only for her to fire back that she wishes she didn’t know. Oh dear. Surely there’s more than meets the eye, but right now it doesn’t look great for our fledgling couple.

Directed by Jo Young-min (Do You Like Brahms?) and written by Lee Seo-hyun and Lee Hyun-jung, The Interest of Love — based on a novel of the same name — will premiere December 21 on JTBC.

They just haven't yet shown the reincarnated office bully hitting people with a golf club who will be a key part of episodes 6-10 before a white truck does him in.

I just hope they don't engage in endless banking references: "I can't account for my attraction; his affection didn't register with me, I'm going to withdraw my principal affection, can you give me a statement of your love, I could go on and on but its beginning to get boring already.

I guess since this trailer already hintet at So Yoong and Jong Hyun being couple is the reason for her hesitating with her attraction toward Sang Soo.

Muse has a song called Undisclosed Desires which is referred to the Accountancy Love Song in our household - the chorus goes “ I want to reconcile the violence in your heart
I want to recognize your beauty is not just a mask
I want to exorcise the demons from your past
I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart”

I have never been sure if it’s deliberate 😅

@beffels: What a great in-joke! ‘Exorcise’ is the only verb here that breaks the topical flow. And, given how dodgy some creative/fraudulent accounting is, ‘demons’ doesn’t seem that inappropriate as well.

One thing I couldn't help but notice is the security guard in the top picture. Does that mean the sml is going to be a policeman? That's an innovative concept! I wonder how it will play out?

Wouldn't it be AMAZING if this show broke the cop SML rule? Especially since I don't much like other the lead actor, Yoo Yeon-seok - but I think the SML is a bank security guard, not a policeman.

@Elinor: I just liked YYS’s role in Mr Sunshine. It was completely against type and he was truly wonderful in a sad and complex role. But here, I’m with you. And, haven’t watched any of the clips but hope MGY doesn’t resort to that cutesy version of her voice.

@solstices - Thanks for the updates. I thought ⭐️ ratings on shows were going to be disabled until the show had started broadcasting/streaming. I see this one already has two 10-star ratings. Do you have any idea what happened here?

This is more of a general grumble, but having super-high ratings for a show that has not even started or has only just begun bends the ultimate rating to the high side and makes ratings less useful overall.

@elinor I too was going to complain, not if the show had already got a 10.0 even before it aired--I love the optimism!-- but because I thought the rating was for the stills. Most of them have the very top of the head cut off. Thats a 6.0 at best in my book!
