Premiere Watch: Trolley, Missing: The Other Side 2

Monday-Tuesday slot, here we come! We have two new dramas premiering in our early-in-the-week slots, with more coming later in the week, but right now it’s all about mysteries — whether they’re about missing souls or secrets pasts.

Trolley

Time slot: Monday-Tuesday
Broadcaster: SBS
Genre: Mystery, thriller, romance, melodrama
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: The promos for this drama have been gorgeous and mature and mysterious, and I’m really looking forward to this one. I love a story about older adults, and with Kim Hyun-joo and Park Hee-soon playing our married couple that’s about to go through hell and high water — well, what’s not to love? The drama appears to be straddling multiple genres, but it certainly looks like the relationship between our leads will be at the center. And with the writer of Do You Like Brahms behind the script, I’m quite sure this drama will have the emotional depth and strain that the story is begging for.

TL;DR: Park Hee-soon Park Hee-soon Park Hee-soon Park Hee-soon Park Hee-soon

Missing: The Other Side 2

Time slot: Monday-Tuesday
Broadcaster: tvN
Genre: Supernatural, thriller, mystery
Episode count: 14

Reasons to watch: Our paranormal investigators are back for Season 2 and more mysteries. That means Go Soo, Heo Jun-ho, Ahn So-hee, and Ha Joon — with the impressive addition of Lee Jung-eun — grace our screens yet again, this time dealing with a mysterious village and the missing children who keep turning up there. Now, the first season of this drama went by without getting much of my attention, but with a second season green-lit, and Lee Jung-eun on board, I’m definitely wondering what sort of (drama) magic is afoot here.

TL;DR: Lee Jung-eun Lee Jung-eun Lee Jung-eun Lee Jung-eun Lee Jung-eun

I'm looking forward to Missing:The Other Side 2. The first season wasn't groundbreaking by any means, and had a number of missteps (IMO), but to was still a solid drama that I quite enjoyed.

And for anyone who wants to catch the first season of Missing before tackling the second, it's on Netflix in the US right now.

OCN’s MISSING: THE OTHER SIDE (2020) is also available on Viki US.
It probably has happened more than I think but I think it is unusual for the same drama to be available both on Netflix US and Viki US.

It's not super common but it does happen. There are (as far as I know) three different tiers of Netflix dramas: actual Netflix originals which are available nowhere else, what I call "Netflix Exclusives" where they have the exclusive streaming rights for particular regions, and others that don't have the red N in the corner and are sometimes available through other streaming platforms too. I haven't checked lately, but recently there were at least 20 dramas in both places - things like Reply 1988, Beyond Evil, Start-Up, and My Unfamiliar Family, among others.

Can’t find it on Viki in Canada. Argh. I’m rewatching S1 on Netflix in preparation for S2.

MISSING: THE OTHER SIDE 2 unfortunately for US viewers is not available on Viki US. This year TRACER arrived on Viki US on a delayed basis so I guess I have to hope for the same for MISSING 2.

Dang, Trolley creeped up on me. I'm insanely behind on all things dramas, but I want to try this show.

Also going to add The Interest of Love this week.
