Drama viewership ratings for the week of Jul. 11-17, 2022

I think it’s safe to say we have a breakaway hit on our hands! Extraordinary Attorney Woo has been doing this neat little trick where it grows exponentially each week; in fact, I don’t remember the last time a show exploded this fast. At over 9% in its third week, the drama is literally getting more viewers than anything else on the menu. Next week? Double digits are definitely in store. How lovely when a hidden gem is discovered, appreciated, and gets the attention it deserves!

Extraordinary Attorney Woo is taking the world by storm and I’m cheering along every new stratospheric milestone. It’s always satisfying to see a great drama actually get the ratings it deserves.

An actual under-appreciated gem that did not get its due attention would be Link. I mourn the fact that this clearly isn’t appealing to domestic or international audiences (I blame Disney+ for the latter) because I’m still really enjoying it.

After everything the writer has done and the crimes it committed on episode 14, Why Her? officially does not deserve a single percent of its 7.8% rating. Good riddance.

It’s good to see Alchemy of Souls steadily increasing. The premise was always going to be tough to sell, but it’s pretty solid and entertaining thus far and deserves the numbers IMO. Maybe it’ll even get to double digits by the end? Only if the writing keeps up.

Disney +’s gatekeeping is just the worst. I would be watching Link if it weren’t for them 😑

I have Disney+, but the drama is not available in my region. And I have to really be committed to watching if I am going to seek out illegal streaming sites. I think it makes me more frustrated too when watching Disney + dramas. I haven't started Link yet, but I've definitely dropped the other Disney+ dramas because at some point, I felt that I wasn't enjoying them enough to make the extra effort. But if it was legally available to me on Disney+, I would have stuck with them.

Disney’s geolocking is the worst. I honestly don’t get why they don’t want more viewers for their own products. Doesn’t make sense to me.

It doesn’t make any sense. They don’t realize how many potential subscribers they lost outside of Asia/Australia because of their ridiculous « local content » approach.

It makes even less sense after the international success of Squid Game.

It’s like they think that only their American content is worth sharing worldwide. *eye roll*

I shouldn’t have to pay for a VPN to watch shows produced by a streaming service that I am already paying for.

Netflix originals and co-productions are available worldwide as far as I know.

A lot of their kdramas aren’t even available in other non-East/Southeast Asian parts of Asia. Talk about terrible planning. I know for a fact they’d gain tons of subscribers from these regions if they made their kdramas available.

The American supremacist attitude (that’s what I’m calling it) of thinking only their own content is internationally popular is getting real annoying, especially after internationally successful shows from several non-English speaking countries. Not that the multi-billion dollar company needs more money, but this is hurting their own bottom line. People shouldn’t have to use VPNs and essentially cheat their way into using their services when many are more than willing to directly pay them. This is ridiculous.

I use a VPN. They are licensing too many dramas I want to watch. Adamas is their next grab.

Can that be used when viewing on a smart tv?

I'm not very tech savvy, but I think it is possible if you install a VPN on your router.

They managed to snatch Adamas too? Oh no.
