Premiere Watch: Cafe Minamdang, Extraordinary Attorney Woo

We made it through the June drama barrage, and this week we meet our final two premieres of the month. From Seo In-gook to Park Eun-bin, I don’t know which one to grab first; too much excitement!

Cafe Minamdang

Time slot: Monday-Tuesday
Broadcaster: KBS
Genre: Comedy, mystery
Episode count: 18

Reasons to watch: I dare anyone to not love Seo In-gook — you might not love all of his drama choices, but it’s hard to deny how talented he is. And now he’s back! As a profiler who runs a coffee shop and pretends to be a shaman to solve cases. What’s not to love about this setup? With Oh Yeon-seo, Kwak Shi-yang, and Kang Mina as a part of his team and/or coffee shop, the drama seems like it will be high on characterization (which I love), and full of a lot of fun.

TL;DR: Seo In-gook comeback, coffee shop, mushroom hair, should be hilarious

Extraordinary Attorney Woo

Time slot: Wednesday-Thursday
Broadcaster: ENA
Genre: Legal, human
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: Another talented actor returns to the small screen — after recently playing a Joseon king in disguise, Park Eun-bin is back playing a rookie attorney navigating her way through her new job at a law firm. The adorability factor is through the roof in all the drama’s promo materials, and I’m hopeful we are getting a sweet and quirky and meaningful story here, instead of just a barrage of legal cases.

TL;DR: Park Eun-bin, legal drama, sweet and quirky, more mushroom hair but cuter

Not high on the plots but love the casting in both dramas. I'll try to put up with SIG and Park Eun-bin's hair. I didn't realize Cafe Minamdang had 18 episodes.

what if we put these actors together though
I am iffy but if they make it over the top campy on purpose, break 4th wall a lot, have pop culture references by buckets & dont take themselves too seriously then it might work. Cafe Shaman I mean.
and I dont really give a f for legal dramas.

Love Seo in Guk, so I am looking forward to his next drama. He always does something new with his characters so I am exited to see how his character will turn out.

I feel like Cafe Minamdang gives off a similar vibe to that of Itaewon Class.

Cafe Minamdang is much more comedic and absurd than something like Itaewon Class. I'd describe it as kind of like a cross between Police Unit 38 and Vincenzo?
