Military Prosecutor Doberman: Episodes 5-6 (Drama Hangout)

Behold, your weekly Drama Hangout! We might not be covering this drama, but that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be a place to talk about it, whether that’s squealing with excitement or piling on the analysis.

This thread is exclusively for this week’s episodes and anything prior, so let’s try to keep it as a place to chat about what’s aired — not spoil future plot points for unsuspecting eyes.

Criminally underrated drama!!!! Idk why nobody is talking about that. Maybe because its competitor Business Proposal which is being crazily loved by many. However, I hope it will get what it deserves cauz it's so entertaining, fun, thrilling comedic elements are mixed. At least it's doing great regarding ratings. Jo bo ah is badass. Love her performance. It's her best performance

Both Business proposal and MPD have different set of viewers so the other drama can’t overshadow this one..

I don’t know why dramabeans is not covering it as well when it’s covering romcom BP and CL..when they open this thread it makes me chuckle, why bother creating a thread when you don’t cover it..I must say glad It has good ratings in SK..

Unless you're me, and then you're watching both... :P

I think dB is short on recappers at the moment- hence the hiring post a few days back.
The thread is so that if people ARE watching it, they still have somewhere to hang out and talk about it in one place, so that it's not just isolated to random fanwall posts; that's the purpose of a hangout thread, and it has been requested for some time that dB provide these for shows they may not be able to recap at the time. In the past, hangout threads have been all some shows with massive viewerships have ha; it's better than nothing.

Flick them an email hello@dramabeans.
It's been an issue for several days now. They're aware and are working on it.

Well anyway... I may have laughed way too hard at her cutting off that goon's finger...
Rarely, if ever, have I seen something like that played for comedy quite like that, in a kdrama. Amazing.
And the knives weren't blurred!!!!! What a blessed day.

Who is with me fascinated on mother and son relationship between No Hwa Young and her son in this? 😄 And where is No Tae-nam's father? It should have its own drama.
I am no proponent of having romance in all dramas but in this I really want to see it Doberman and his red hair lady boss. Ha ha ha Dont waste the chemistry!

I found it’s fascinating that NTN got his mom’s last name, which is rare in Korea. Their relationship is definitely a juicy part of the show that keeps me on edge all the time. Good job writers!

I can imagine psychology students students have a field day talking about their relationship ha ha ha
Maybe it is the case the same family name couple like Song2 couple if they didn't got divorced 😄 their child would have the same family name with the mother. Though the chance is small since No is not that popular family name in SK, unlike Lee, Kim, or even Song

I'm watching this, along with Business Proposal, and loving both. My appreciation of both leads has soared from the previous dramas I've seen them in. An Bo-hyun is a total hunk and his character has a unique personality, both clever and doggishly enthusiastic. You'd think those qualities would be opposed to each other, but not in this character. On top of that, Jo Boa is fiesty with a well-developed game plan. Very nice to see a girl with dimensions. Last time I looked it seemed a team was forming, but I'm very much in it for ABH's eye candy. He's as appealing in his aero-dynamically shaped form as the doberman. So much to appreciate.

What is aero-dynamically shaped form as the Doberman? 😄
Jo boa is so lifeless in drama with Lee Dong wook but in this she has good chemistry with ABH.

I am surprised at how big he looks because I wasn't aware of that in Itaewon Class or even in My Name. I suppose it matters who he is standing beside. But I looked it up and he is 6' 3. He has a beautiful lean body designed for power and speed. His mother must be so proud.

Late reply! Just got to give you a shout out for your ABH compliment. He was as my dad said "Handsome guy" in My Name lol. He has range? He was cute/chill in Yumi's Cell, and romantic in Her Private Life. He's believable as a romantic lead or action hero. That's a good sign b/c actors who manage both tend to rise to bigger things for their future. Hoping he doesn't mess with his looks/body lol.

I also like Jo Bo Ah, she doesn't over act in the shows I've seen her in. She's not a bombastic actress on screen, but she has a charming demeanor that I feel someone needs to give her a fun role so she can reach even further!

IMO Ahn Bo-hyun’s transitions well from supporting actor to ML. His roles have grown more substantial as he progressed through dramas I've seen: Her Private Life, Itaewon Class, My Name, Doberman. I am now watching I’ll See you in my 19th Life, primarily because I was so impressed with ABH in Doberman.

I become engaged in ABH’s characters, rather than being consciously aware of him (the actor) portraying the characters. But the actor’s handsome physique is a bonus - he in his well-fitted military work uniform could be featured in a fashion magazine.

Yes, Jo Bo Ahn delivers with her character CWI -- a reserved woman with strong self confidence.

I too wondered if ABH had grown a couple of inches (???) between his previous dramas and Doberman. I just started This is my 19th Life [2023], where ABH doesn’t seem to be as tall -- did he shrink again ?

In 19th life, Ahn Bo-Hyun is playing a reserved character who does not seek the limelight, unlike our swaggering Doberman prosecutor. So perhaps actor ABH willed himself to look smaller in one and taller in the other :-)

FL Shin Hye-sun in 19th Life and the MLPark Seo-joon in Itaewon Class are relatively tall, so ABH didn’t tower over everyone in those dramas -- as he seems to in Doberman.

IMO, ABH’s statuesque presence (plus charming smile) compare favourably with that of more senior actor Yoo Ji-Tae (Healer being a favorite of mine).

Tribute to his acting that he seems frail and even smaller in 19th Life. For a guy who is 6ft 3ins that's a feat.

I was kind of lukewarm about MPD when it was first aired but everything started to pick up this week. I was on edge the whole time and the thrilling aspect is top-notch. Love both the leads, they have their own flair, and the comedy is on point 😄. They also added some really creative upside down shots for the action scenes. Very very happy that I have 3 excellent shows (MPD, Business Proposal, and 2521) to fill my weeks.

While I do agree that both lead actors are doing solid work, is it just me who's wondering how much better the drama would be with Um Tae Woong or Ji Sung, both revenge drama experts, or even Song Joong Ki as the male lead and someone like Ha Ji Won as the female lead? I know all of the above actors are too old for the roles, but I do think the drama would have that extra oomph that make it more than a solid drama. I hope both lead actors will become better, more mature actors with more challenging material.
