Drama viewership ratings for the week of Jan. 10-16, 2022

This week we say goodbye to School 2021, which ended its run on par with its rather quiet ratings (and leaving our Wednesday-Thursday slot even quieter). On the other hand, our two newbie dramas, Tracer and Through the Darkness, are performing quite well.

Show Window broke Channel A's viewership record and Uncle recorded its highest ratings to date. Impressive.
Ghost Doctor is doing quite well for a tvN Mon-Tue drama.
I'm glad to see MBC is continuing to perform well on Fri-Sat.

Congratulations to Show Window Team on becoming Channel A's highest-rated drama. The Channel chose the right show for rebranding, on its 10th anniversary if I am not wrong.
Also, they have outperformed, all the other major channel shows. Chukka Chukka. Good wishes for the cast and crew as they are finishing up this week.

Unfortunately, wavve didn't license Tracer to any OTT outside of S. Korea but there is a fan sub team who just released Ep. 1 with great subtitles, if you're interested :) just look for TaxPayerSubTeam on twitter! Hope this helps.

Justice for The One and Only. Those ratings do not reflect its the quality imo. Uncle, meanwhile, does have the ratings it deserves and I couldn’t be happier about it.
I’m glad to see Through the Darkness doing so well already. The opening episodes were excellent. I’d love to compliment Tracer too, but the lack of english subs is beyond frustrating.

If at times UNCLE seems a bit different than the usual K-drama one should remember that it is a re-make of a British show. It is good and the ratings show it.
The high ratings for THE KING OF TEARS, LEE BANG WON make total sense- this is a great show. I have written about this elsewhere but did not realize that it was not yet available on Viki in other regions. I was embarrassed to find this out- It felt a bit like being Lucy snatching away the football just as Charlie Brown is about to kick it. But once it does become available to those who live in other regions, they will want to watch it.
The ratings continue to climb for YOUNG LADY AND GENTLEMAN and for good reason. This is a good weekender.

Very interesting, I forgot reading that Uncle was first a British show. So many things about it seem wholly Korean like the crazy chaebol grandma and the nutty school moms group who despise “renters” and have so much influence over the local Congressman . . . or maybe not 🤔

You kind find those in every country I am afraid… Korean society is just more open about it, they don’t even try to hide the money social class / caste system and pretend that everybody has a chance, the others just slightly more hypocrites ;)

Kim Nam-gil and the rest of the cast were terrific in the first two episodes of THROUGH THE DARKNESS. I expect the ratings to continue to rise as the word gets out how good this drama is.
Not much is available on TTD’s Director Park Bo-ram but so far so good. It looks like TTD is in good hands.
