As cute as the word "oppa" is, donggap are my favorite romances. I love same age friends for how comfortable they are with each other and how they use banmal. My favorites this year include Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk Start-Up, Park Bo-gum and Park So-dam Record of Youth, Kim Soo-hyun and Seo Ye-ji It's Okay to Not Be Okay, and Ahn Hyo-seop and Lee Sung-kyung Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 2.

This is why I'm so disappointed with Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol and Do You Like Brahms? because Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol Go Ara and Lee Jae-wook were donggap until the most unnecessary plot twist ever made them all of a sudden not, and Do You Like Brahms? Park Eun-bin and Kim Min-jae were donggap but spoke in jondaemal until the bitter end.

This is also why I love high school dramas (Lee Do-hyun and Han So-eun and Roh Jeong-eui and Choi Bo-min 18 Again) because everyone speaks casually in high school, and they feel close when they call each other by their full names ("Hong Si-ah").

So unless your boyfriend is a North Korean soldier, I can't ship if you call your significant other "ssi'."

Personally, I love couple that can share conversations like friends. But for me, Start-Up and Record of Youth lacks sparks for being a couple, they're good as friends, but the love stories are kinda boring.

I really liked My Unfamiliar Family's couple, they were friends but had sparks between them.

Interesting thoughts @panshel. I watched BRAHMS and am watching DO DO. I am not a Korean speaker.
How about a couple other favorites of mine from this year? Do you recall how the couple spoke to each other in:
1. WHEN THE WEATHER IS FINE aka WEATHER. Eun-seob and Hae-won are the same age 28 iirc; and
2. MEMORIALS/INTO THE RING. Se-ra and Gong-myung are both 29 I believe.
Early pick. In 2020 I have been drawn more into romantic dramas than in a normal year. Right now I think I would choose Se-ra and Gong-myung as my favorite kdrama couple of the year.

For Weather, they spoke informally to each other. I remember because all the "Hae-won-ah!"s and "Eun-soeb-ah!"s always sounded so musical to me. :-)

I liked DYLB, but the jondaemal to the end and the (sorry) kind of old-lady clothes they put Song-ah in, and the natural awkward introversion (while at times adorable) kind of made them feel a little old-people-couple to me. That would have been okay, but it seemed out of step with their other relationships with friends/past love interests of the same age.

I really liked songah’s wardrobe in DYLB, it was feminine and looked elegant to me. But even the lounging clothes she worn at home looked a bit too put together.😂

During their ice cream date in Episode 7 when Joon-young asked Song-ah, "What do you mean? We're donggap." I was waiting for him to suggest they lower their speech, but I lost all hope of them ever using banmal with each other. They felt like a church couple to me, too prim and proper. Dong-yoon is lucky being friends with all five of them and can speak casually.

'More Than Friends' and 'Meow the Secret Boy' have both main stories and side stories involving growing (or hidden) love between longtime friends. Unfortunately, the guys are withholding jerks who only find the meaning of love after the girl had pined after him for TEN YEARS. Its funny how the two series are so similar since they share two castmembers and were made the same year.

Besides More Than Friends and Meow, the Secret Boy, Shin Ye-eun was high school friends with Park Jin-young in He Is Psychometric too. But Lee An is the furthest thing from a jerk.

I guess some people are more comfortable that way. Jung woo sung and lee Jung jae are good friends, but they prefer using jondaemal with each other. While Kim Jong kook and cha tae Hyun use banmal with each other.
Some married couple address each other as yeobo, some call each other jagi, but there are also people who prefer to call each other by name.

In traditional married couples, husbands use banmal while wives use jondae. 😒

1

..or the one where they went from speaking formally to informally because of the progress on their friendship-relationship.
My ultimate moment for this is none other than the way Park Dong Hoon (My Ajusshi) called Lee Ji An, he went from "Lee Ji An-sshi", to "Lee Ji An", and then "Ji An",, I literally squeed right there, kekeke..

*and this is a disclaimer: I love it that PDH is respectful to LJA from start to finish, but no one, literally no one, can convince me that PDH doesn't love LJA romantically :D

Once I have this colleagues, I dont like him, so I dont want him to be my friend who I hang out with etc. I keep calling him with honorific equal to "nim" to show like you keep your distance from me. This is my kind of rebellion (since he is my senior) wk wk wk

Also, I'll take on more responsibility at work next month and get to lead a small team of 3. Uhhh... Farewell, my carefree days 🤣

Little Boy - 1375k - a bit late so go for

1415k - 1st week December

and 1475k - 19th December

December as +ve month - time for Little Boy to go. Next from 1st week January 2021.

I'm still having cold. Couldn't sense for an hour, opps - it was stuffy nose. heh. Then at night time drank bottled water at room temperature - almost 1.8ltr and withing few minutes i was trembling, clacking teeths, chattering teeths and heavy breath. I had to resort to breathing through mouth and thought once more Opps.

As said last week people like us has to face the consequences of the actions of others. I haven't stepped outside for 2 months and here i'm a bit skeptic of what and what not.

Little Boy don't knock my door. I won't be able to withstand it.

If i survive till January 2021 - 1st week Jan 2021 is on

Talk about HDD Crash - of last week.

I have 4 laptops and 1 desktop - and each of them have atleast 1 problem. The most ridiculous buzzword i see from these so called fans is - "character with flaws". Does that apply to these materialistic objects too?

I never backup - I have nothing much to backup. I do have same data on all laptops so its in all essence a backup. But i don't prefer backup. Why make things easier for you? So that you could repeat your mistakes over and over?

Also, i have nothing much to backup - few GBs of Pdf, few documents and that's it.
And 20 odd OS windows+linux+ 500gb of software packages, free, bought, pirated, trial versions - like i ever gonna try them. Downloading in itself is fun.

No songs, movies, tv shows, or anything like tv media.
Print media - lots and lots of books pdfs.

2020 musings time -

This is why i like experts -
I have no knowledge of fashion but that where family members are helpful - if not then you can use money to hire someone knowledgeable.

I don't even know most singers and bands. Most of the music i listen comes from Anime and tv dramas - songs, OST, background music.
So its always a surprise for me how people droll over various idol groups and celebrities. It all matter of interests but still it adds to my logic that i'm not too fond of humans.

I am waiting for the annual K-Drama specials to air. Until then, KBS America has been showing reruns of older dramas. Currently, it is Chief Kim (Good Manager). I remember first watching it to conclude that it was a great show. In this re-watch, it is enjoyable but does not have the same impact as the first time around.

Do you have the same mild let-down watching an old favorite for a second time?

I was surprised to hear Sayuri's story. She's a Japanese enternainer in Korea and she had the same story than Oh My Baby's plot. She wanted to be mum but her health condition won't let her in the future. So she decided to be a single mum and she faced the same issues that the FL in Oh My Baby, so she went to Japan to find a hospital where sperm donations for single mother are possible. Now, she's the mother of a little boy :)

I read an article that government officials reputed the notion that a single woman in South Korea cannot have a sperm donor. A married couple must both consent to a sperm donation. However, SK medical ethics make it nearly impossible for physicians to actually perform In vitro fertilization for single women. There is still a strong cultural outcast against single women with children.

In this and many other ways Korea is still stuck 100+ years in the past and is ultra conservative, despite it's huge technical achievements. As far as I can find out, it is the only country that still clings to that Confucian notion of honorifics when speaking to others. I could cite numerous other examples of the weird dichotomy, but not much point since nothing will change except with the passage of time.

It's pre-emptions to sports on Kdramaland schedule again this week!
Each three Kdramas had only one episode this week (Kairos did the same last week as well as Fly Dragon/Delayed Justice).

- Kairos (Ep. 6) and The Spies Who Loved Me (Ep. 8) aired this week = preempted to KBO/Korean baseball (again!) on MBC
- Penthouse: War in Life (Ep. 7) aired this week = preempted to friendship football match between South Korea and Qatar in Austria on SBS (the former which is the Kdramaland home won this football match)

BTW, Kairos will be back to two episodes format next week, this time on Tuesday slot only due to preemption of upcoming/future KBO baseball games on Monday.

Happy weekend Beanies and keep Beaning On!

Warrior friend has invited the friend squad for a video chat this evening, I am pretty excited to see and hear how she and the others have been doing.😊 She started with immunotherapy this week and I hope her body will be able to handle it. The chemotherapy sent her to IC last time and I really do not want a repeat of that.🥺 Everyone else also seems to be fine or recovering well, so I guess the deities agree that I should focus on myself and my new job from now on.💪

Real life somehow heard the news too, because now my health is suffering for a change. Dentist appointment was a few months ago, but a piece of my tooth broke off the other day. Regular eye check-up was this week, but instead of stagnating as required at my age, my sight deteriorated even more. I will have to spend a lot of time with my dentist, my optician and my credit card next week.😭 At least most of it should be settled before I start work in December. The last month of the year is going to be a busy one, so I have one week left to get ready.😉

Wait….Last month of the year!!!!!!!!😲

I totally get you... when you begin to visit doctors, it feels like you will never stop. These last two weeks I've been to the neurologist (to keep a control on my migraines that have gone crazy), to the digestive, and only yesterday I had to go to the ophthalmologist in an emergency visit because I had some trouble with my lenses, although finally was nothing important.
So now I just remember my grandma who was always talking about her medical appointments and I don't know whether to laugh or to cry 😅😅😅😅

Happy Friday, beanies!

Last week on the Open thread some beanies discussed about the possibility of reviewing the this year in dramas, we came up with this list and this hashtag for this December-sort-of-challenge.

#2020roundup
Day 1- That male lead you will never forget (for better or worse).
Day 2 - That female lead you will never forget (for better or worse).
Day 3 - That PPL a drama feels empty without.
Day 4 - The drama you couldn’t finish.
Day 5 - The drama you finished just for the bean.
Day 6 - The drama you know you will rewatch.
Day 7 - That OST you’re obsessed with.
Day 8 - The OTP you didn’t think you’ll adore.
Day 9 - The drama you watched just because and end up loving.
Day 10 - The drama beanies convinced you to watch and you can’t be grateful enough.
Day 11- The crush you discovered in 2020.
Day 12 - The “oldie” (not 2020) you loved the most.
Day 13 - Most fashionable / elegant character in a drama.
Day 14 - The drama that could have been but wasn’t… (if only they listened beanies!)
Day 15 - Those secondary characters you will never forget: SL, villain, kids...(for better or worse).
Day 16 - Best quote / oneliner.
Day 17 - The drama that made you emotional.
Day 18 - The drama you want to rant about.
Day 19 - Most memorable scene.
Day 20 - That cameo that blew up your mind.
Days 21 to 31- Freestyle

You can join for one day, or try the whole month, you can follow the themes or just freestyle all the time. It would be lovely to read the comments and reviews from all of you. The idea is that we talk about dramas aired in 2020 (as if we haven't talked about them enough, hehe).

If you don't keep a record of what you've watched, you can find some help in this link: https://wiki.d-addicts.com/List_of_Dramas_aired_in_Korea_by_Network_in_2020

Hey beanies! We made it through another week! I can't believe that we're 2/3 done with November - every year, I feel like someone vacuum packs Oct-December and then hurtles it at warp speed through the space-time continuum. Or however that would work. The only astrophysics I think I know is from watching Big Bang Theory.

This weekend I plan to get cracking on some embroidery projects (Christmas gifts for my sisters) while working through my waiting podcast episodes, finishing Search and getting sleep. We're also still doing virtual kids events via the American Library; I'm always so sorry we can't do them in person the way we usually do, but those kids always show up full of energy and happy to be there anyway. And the librarians work so hard to make it a fun and engaging hour. I'm amazed at what people are pulling off in 2020 - there's a lot more light than I sometimes realize.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy weekend, and can't wait to start the #2020RoundUp with those who plan to participate in one way or another!

Good luck with the embroidery! What are you making? I always say to myself I will start my Christmas craft projects in July so I have lots of time. And every year it is November and I start panicking! My blanket knitting has slowed to a crawl because my baby has been refusing to sleep in the evenings (I guess she’s a toddler now? She’s still my baby 😭) and I have so much to do...

One day, I'll go back to my project for me, which is a series from a Korean designer of artistically rendered Korean words. I've only done one so far (행복), but I really do want to finish the rest. Before I die.

Nice, I always like the juxtaposition between traditional embroidery and modern. I don’t have the patience for embroidery myself but it can be very impressive.

I’m making a throw blanket for my parents for Christmas - I’m about 3/4 done after about 6 weeks but I’m getting awfully nervous I will run out of wool 😬 I can’t get any more because it’s a one off batch from their sheep, so I’m trying to decide the best course of action. (It’s very simple, four large mitred squares which will be joined together, am on the last square)

Hello, Beanies! Happy Friday! I hope you’re all well.

We just finished two weeks of Covid-related isolation in our household. We all tested negative, but the local recommendation was to be in quarantine, so yeah. The situation in our geography is sort of dire, so staying home for a few weeks is probably for the best.

Still behind on all the new k-drama, but—after much resistance and questioning, I’m now watching Secret Garden. To my genuine surprise, I kind of LOVE it, wacky plot, tacky track suits and all! I can now see why it was the gateway drug to k-drama for so many.

15

Required fields are marked *

THE TRACK SUITS!!!! It's the running gag that keeps on giving.

And thank you for quarantining like a champ. I worry about how much of the spread here is due to our unfortunate work/play ethic, where people feel like they have to be doing things all the time and can't just stay home.

6

reply

Required fields are marked *

The quarantine has been frustrating, but not difficult. I figure it’s a small price to pay to keep everyone in the community healthy and to avoid overwhelming our already undermanned health care system.

I don’t know what the stylist was thinking when they picked out those track suits, but OMG, it’s worth it for the gag potential alone.

Also, I had no idea that Hyun Bin would be good at the physical comedy and comedic timing this time required, so color me impressed.

I don't think you understand. They're DESIGNER. See this label? These sequins were HAND-STITCHED by an ITALIAN ARTISAN.

hahahahahhahahahahha it's so good even in mental replay!

Secret Garden put me firmly on Team Binnie 4 Lyfe. Very, very different from CLOY, for example, where you don't even see the dimples until multiple episodes in. If you like SG, you'll also like My Lovely Samsoon - sadly none of the wild fairy-tale elements, but you get some OTT makjang moments plus Kim Sun-Ah who carries the show. And Binnie doing that charming spoiled chaebol with the heart of gold routine that he's so good at.

4
1
reply

Required fields are marked *

OMG, that scene where he tries to show off the label? GOLD. I laughed so much I had to pause the show for a bit. Also, he has more than one of these sequined track suits. I’m dead.

After the body swap, both lead actors do such a great job of channeling the other’s facial expressions that you start to believe they really are the other person. (Ha Ji Won even walks like Hyun Bin!) Terrific stuff.

Does Binnie have some sort of contract stipulation that he has to play jerk chaebol characters every so often? He’s excellent at it, so this is not a complaint, lol.

3

Secret Garden was an early watch for me and it was one more magical entry into Korean drama with astonishing and unpredictable twists. It will always be dear to my heart.

Required fields are marked *

Now that I’ve watched the whole thing, there are definitely things about the show that feel a bit dated, and others that are deeply problematic (like, um, do the writers know how consent works?)

That said, I still enjoyed the heck out of it, mostly because of the fantastic chemistry between the leads abd because it was so incredibly funny for the most part.

Of recent shows, CLOY probably comes closest to matching Secret Garden for chemistry and comedy (though I have issues with CLOY that I won’t go into here).

2

Definitely dated. But the magic bits took me by surprise at the time and then on top of that the body swap. It was the mix of genres that was so new to me and that I now look forward as a given. CLOY had an overall great feel to it, much of which I attribute to Yoon Se-ri's delightful character and how beautifully she was played by Son Ye Jin. She's such an accomplished actor. Chemistry and comedy for sure.

Something in a drama upset me this week. I was watching and enjoying 'More Than Friends' when the plot line shifted to plans for 'world travel' for a year or two. 'World Travel?' I thought, 'In the middle of a global pandemic?' It upset me that the series took this turn. Yes, I know K-dramas are fantasies and have largely ignored the global crisis. But there's a difference between ignoring and flouting. It the equivalent to setting a comedy on a ferry right after the Sewol ferry disaster.

I guess they left out the part about most countries requiring a two week quarantine these days. But now that you mention it, any mention of COVID has been almost totally missing from any of the kdramas.

I think the networks intentionally want their shows to get people's minds away from the pandemic. The only semi-mention I can think of was in Tale of the Nine Tales where the Imoogi said once he completes his mission he will unleash a virus on mankind.

That is pretty tone deaf. I’m happy for them to keep it low key (because tbh, life goes on pretty much as normal here most of the time, except it’s really hard to ship anything here and you can’t get into the country very easily) but that is beyond keeping it low key.

Kdrama watching schedule kind of slow this week with all the slow subs, preempted shows and some dramas just falling flat about halfway through.
I see that KBS is doing the single episode drama special again - I missed those, some were pretty good. However of the 3 episodes so far, first was OK, second was bleh, third was pretty good.

I was rather disappointed in Penthouse - only one episode, and the body count failed to go up, so still stuck at 4 or 5. That show is the very definition of over the top makjang, yet I can't look away.

Nearly all the other shows I follow are being super slow to sub, so been surfing NetFlix for all the weirdest stuff. I spend more time surfing/looking than actually watching...

Just got back from my morning run and feeling kind of guilty - I passed an old guy on the way out trying to catch his dog (an enormous German shepherd) and he asked me to grab her if she came to me. She didn’t but I also didn’t really try because I thought he was joking....came back the same way ten minutes later, still there, I went close and the dog came straight to me.....apparently she is a ladies dog. I could have saved him so much frustration! So now I feel like a terrible person for not trying at the start.

I am having a nice week - it’s been pretty LSG heavy, because he just released his first song in years (and I really like it, requisite link to music video here... https://youtu.be/uJEKfFUbu0c - although if I’m honest the music video makes me laugh and I can’t take it seriously, I prefer the live version, https://youtu.be/JTc7wsUXpxI). Christmas time is just around the door, and what better way to pass the remainder of this droll year by kick-starting Christmas by baking gingerbread. I promised my children we'd bake some gingerbread this weekend so I suppose I've got my work cut out for me this sunday.

I am usually terribly strict with the timing of seasonal decorations, but this year I might just holler along with Mariah Carey and Triad a bit early. Sorry, neighbors!

Here's something to spoil your day. Or week, or... Instead of worrying about how many people have have had the plague, or total deaths, or test positivity rates, look at death rates. Then run and hide.

I just read that in North Dakota about 1 person in every 1,000 has died of Covid, so I had to do some checking by comparing Wikipedia population figures to Covid death counts on one of the sites that list those by state.

In North Dakota it turns out to be a bit more than 1 in 1,000. In California where I live, it's "only" a bit less than 1 in 2,000. For the U.S. as a whole about 1 in 1,300.
😱

(Dusting off my ancient algebra skill - I was good in math in school but my last class was in 1968)
Those numbers work out pretty close. About 0.00076 of U.S. population dead of covid with my numbers, about 0.00078 with yours.

Of course, numbers like "1 in 1,300" can be both accurate and over-dramatic, and a good example of how you can spin things without lying. If you want a less scary way of looking at it, consider that people are dying lots of things all the time. Make some rough guesses about life expectancy and you might say that every year about 1 person in 80 will die of something and then "1 in 1300" looks less scary.

Required fields are marked *

Per CDC it's 80 deaths per 100,000 people in North Dakota from COVID. It's normally about 160 deaths per year per 100,000 people in North Dakota from cancer. California definitely has a smaller death rate for covid, at 47 deaths per 100,000 people.

You may already have this, and in the end, who needs to know in that much detail, but here is the Johns Hopkins online continually updated world data on infection rate and deaths throughout the world, and you can dig down to individual US States as well, if you want to https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html
I had to stop myself looking at it every day, but it's about as authoritative as it gets. Worldometer is pretty good too, of course.

No matter which way the data seems to get sliced and diced these days, it enrages me whenever I look at the US numbers. With the exception of some state governments, there's just a complete abdication of responsibility, from federal level all the way down to individuals. I'm from the Midwest, and I'm just...incredulous. How is this our country?

From E Pluribus Unum to I Don't Really Care, Do You?, I guess. I'm overseas, and I've never felt more adrift.

Hello beans. I hope everyone had a good week and happy weekend. I have some announcements:

1) D-day!!! Rok Monte is finally here! 21st Nov is Sungrok's first performance in Monte Cristo 2020! It's his 4th time as Edmond since the musical premiered in 2010 ⛵.

2) D-2 to Happy Sungrok Day aka SSR birthday! 23rd Nov!! 🎂

3) 21st Nov is also 'The Last Empress' 2nd year anniversary! The drama that changed my dramaland~ where are my TLE rabbit beans? Bogoshipoyo~~ 👀

4) Kairos will air both ep 7-8 on Tuesday 24th Nov, as the Monday slot is canceled for baseball. Yay! We get 2 eps next week~~ 1 ep per week is not enough and it breaks the flow of the story. It's so good so far, hopefully it remains good or be better until the end~ ⏳

Happy weekend beanies!
Me, I worked Friday evening-night, and have to work Saturday morning 7-12. (Right now is 6am), and I feel totally destroyed! 😡

Funny, I am supposed to be on vacation, from my main job, but then I have this other job, and today is actually a favor, I suppose, for someone called in sick.... anyways!!
Even on "vacations", I couldn't go anywhere, thanks covid lock down, and I haven't had time to watch dramas, since I started to write again, and it's taking most of my time, research and so....

But manly, because the dramas I have been watching are disappointing me so much, I am upset.
What's wrong with Ddsslls' writer?😒😡😒 I was ok with the twist of Jun being younger than Ra ra, it's just 5 years difference.... But I hate, I hate how down hill the drama has gone since that reveal. 😐
And... I was also watching 100 days my Prince, but somehow I can't pass through ep. 12, (I think), because it is when they well start killing people I am afraid... and I don't want to see that.😐😐😐😐
I want to start watching start up since most of you have praised it, but again, I don't find the time or the mood.
I have Netflix, I don't turn it on.... It is just a bore in this moment.... 🙄
Don't know why.

But I hope I will recover. Drama slump.... never thought it could happen to me.

virtual kisses and hugs, beanies!🙋

I know what you are saying about DO DO. I still love the characters (and the performances) but for me I think the writing started slipping in episode 9. I am probably in a minority but making little Jae-Min into a child ‘noble idiot’ really annoyed me. Now I am thinking this should have been a 12-14 episode drama and not 16. Oh well.

Watching these zombie dramas prompted me to dream of my own Kingdom one night. Me and 5 of my friends lived in the same dorm on campus, we were the most popular group, and we were all rounders! The zombie virus started on campus and all zombie students and teachers were coming for us to our dorms. The 6 of us took out our swords (where did they come from?) and took the heads of the zombies. These zombies were tricky, they would retreat and then attack when you're least expecting it. Anyway there were too many of them for us, and although we were good, I was the worst of my friends in fighting them. I was being just like the magistrate in Kingdom, so terrified, just barely dodging them and killing them with my eyes closed. Also it was just unending, it went on and on and on and I was exhausted. Anyway 3 of the friends succumbed and we had to take them down. At one point when the zombies retreated, or maybe we destroyed all of them, the 3 of us who remained decided to just leave the campus and never speak about this again. Haha that was strange! :P

Hello, beanies! I am new to k-drama and dramabeans, but have found so much fun and solace in reading posts and comments by all of you. Thank you for such a wonderful community! Real life has been hard, and deep-diving here has helped a lot whilst I am figuring out how to work through and move on from my real life dramas.

I started watching k-dramas earlier this year, with It's Okay to Not be Okay...and I have been addicted ever since. I think IOTNBO will always be my first and greatest love, but I have since watched many more that I adore and can't believe it's taken me so long to discover this world!

My 'routine' is to research shows via reviews and MyDramaList.com recommendations (based on shows I've liked) to decide what to watch next, start watching until I get to a stage when I feel embedded and invested, and then I come to Dramabeans to read the recaps to find out the ending before I continue. That probably sounds very weird to most people, but I prefer to know endings so that I can enjoy the journey more. (I even do this with books...)

The comments sections on the recaps have been a lifesaver for me because beanies will invariably have started/had discussions that I wanted to have about a show, and somehow, that makes me feel less alone in my drama addiction and obsession. However, because I'm watching shows from a number of years ago, it's too late to participate in those comments sections, so I'm driving my husband crazy by making him discuss storylines that he isn't invested in himself. (Currently, I am going on incessantly about the love triangle in Jealousy Incarnate). :oP

Anyhow, I just wanted to say hello and join in on the fun! I love how international this community is (as I am mixed, culturally), and somehow feel at home here. :o)

Lastly, if any of you fancy humouring me, I was wondering whether there were any shows that you aren't fussed about, but that are widely beloved? I'm curious because I have a couple of those already, and whilst I know that's just normal, I can't help but wonder what I'm missing...

Healer is actually one that I have already watched, and is next on the list to (re-)watch with my husband (we are currently on Kill Me, Heal Me). :o) I didn’t realise that people may still comment on the final episode of shows, so I shall be less shy about participating that way.

Honestly, there are so many old comments I want to ‘like‘ and respond to, but I’ve hesitated because it may be weird for the people who wrote those comments years and years ago. I agonise about these things, but people probably don’t care/mind! :oP Thanks again for the lovely welcome! :o)

I think we might be...so I'm following you to see what you like! :oP I just noticed in another comment thread that you knit - me, too! Although watching k-dramas means that I haven't picked up my needles or hooks since this obsession began because I can't read subtitles and woolcraft at the same time. Argh. Between learning Korean and growing another pair of eyes so I can do both, I'm not sure which would be harder!

1

@mellowarmadillo the secret is to knit something absolutely mindless that you can do without looking 😅 My current project is basically all just garter stitch for hours 😄

1

Hi @beffels, back in the days when we could still meet up with people, I was part of a knitting bee, and I learned that the only thing I could do during these gatherings was the sewing up... Anything else would invariably result in some kind of knitting or crocheting mistake that was beyond my abilities to fix. :oP
How is the blanket going? Will you have enough wool to finish?

1

@mellowarmadillo No 😭 I have run out of wool about halfway across the final square. So currently I am undoing the second to last square to get enough wool to make it to the same place on each, then they can go diagonally opposite each other and I’ll finish the squares in a different colour. And then do the border in that colour too.
Hopefully it won’t look too terrible 😅 if I was really dedicated I’d undo all the squares and resize them but it’s way too close to Christmas for that....so now I just need to decide what colour goes with natural cream.

I do a lot of sewing up when I’m at knitting bees too - I always put it off so it’s good for finally making me do it.
