Drama viewership ratings for the week of Nov. 2-8, 2020

Now that we’ve settled into November, the dramas’ ratings have settled down as well. Shows like Do Do Sol Sol and Private Lives haven’t budged from their usual numbers, and even the more popular shows like Search and Start-Up haven’t moved much. That being said, the latter mentioned are still doing well, with 3 percent and 5 percent respectively.

Going into our more recent shows, Kairos has also found itself stuck around the 3 percent mark. In the same timeslot, Penthouse found itself soaring to 13.9 percent. (Interestingly enough, my makjang-loving mom told me she decided to drop Penthouse after this episode.) This week’s newcomer Birthcare Center premiered to 4.2 percent, and following Record of Youth, that’s a pretty good place to start.

So sad that Private Lives and More Than Friends didn't do well on ratings. Poor, JTBC.

i'm confused aren't some of these dramas have 2 parts per episode..how did they count it..if combine all parts Penthouse already hits 20% with just first two weeks

They either take the average of the 2 parts or just the ratings of part 2 because those who watch part 1 will be the same who watch part 2. So, you can't just add the 2 parts to get the ratings, otherwise, most of these dramas will have a rating beyond 10%.

aaah I see..this whole time i thought the purpose of them to split parts is to get higher ratings than making ep in one go

no.. they got a new law which stops them from airing commercials mid-program. So, basically, they found a loophole by airing "2" episodes rather than one in a day and placing commercials between the 2 episodes, coz they need commercials to fund the program.

ohhh so that's why...thank you so much for this info!

It does have 2 or 3 parts but it is not meant to be combined. Official ratings are the highest rating per episode, which is usually the 2nd part or in some cases the 3rd part. It's a weird rating system, it's one ep divided by ads...why bother splitting the ratings into parts too 😅.

I think they can't. I don't remember the details but in my memories, public broadcasters can't run mid-show commercials. But the channels needed more money, so they played with the law and split one episode in two episodes.
