What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Do You Like Brahms: How is this show so good? I just can’t get over how beautiful and charming the story and our protagonists are. It’s always nice seeing introverts centered in a story, and the ways that Joon-young and Song-ah are building a relationship and recognizing their attraction feels pitch perfect. The use of all these tiny, unspoken moments and glances between Joon-young and Song-ah are killing me (in the best way possible).

Currently weecapping: Do You Like Brahms

Lies of Lies: No shame — this is my favorite show I’m watching right now (excluding the sheer delight that is Do You Like Brahms). It’s just so wild and fun! I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why a revenge melo makjang drama like this feels so much more authentic than “slice of life” drama Record of Youth. Perhaps it’s how they are slicing life, but I really can’t say I find any of it terribly authentic or relatable. But Lies of Lies, I can relate to? Huh? I guess because it works in sweeping themes and metaphors that are universal, archetypal… and also addictive. This week, Eun-soo having a “date” with her daughter pretty much killed me —and the entire cast here is so great. They jumped into this story with abandon, and it shows in the execution. It’s time for the sneak-romance next week, and I’m sooooooo curious how this will play out.

When I Was the Most Beautiful: And this is my other favorite show I’m watching right now (excluding the sheer delight that is Do You Like Brahms). I was so wrong with my guesses last week — but really, who can predict this crazy plot? It’s half silly and half amazing, but I’m enjoying it big time. Also, Jisoo is so much better at melo than I ever expected. He’s able to pack incredible amounts of emotion into his facial expressions, often with practically no lead-up. That being said, so many of his strongest scenes have this long emotional arc to them — he goes through half a dozen emotions in just one scene. It’s melo, but it’s damn fine acting.

Record of Youth: I really don’t like this drama at all. I’m still watching trying to watch, but my bitter dissatisfaction is enough to fuel the Truck of Doom.

Currently Recapping: Forest of Secrets 2

Alice: I’m not loving the weird romance-y vibes, and I seriously hope we don’t go down that route. How creepy would that be? No mom-adjacent romance, please. *Shudders*

Do You Like Brahms: Does anyone understand what on earth is appealing about Jung-kyung? Because I have yet to see a single positive quality, yet somehow both of her childhood friends are in love with her. I just don’t get it. Our central couple-to-be, on the other hand, is still adorable as can be. I really hope Song-ah learns to stand up for herself more, though, because I hate seeing people constantly demeaning her.

Flower of Evil: At this point, I’m just trying to make it to the finish line. I really don’t like the way the latter half of the drama has gone, so I don’t even know what I want out of the finale anymore, but I have a feeling we’re in for a lot of angst and crying.

Currently recapping: Alice

My Unfamiliar Family: I’m finally done. It was a rocky journey, but the family made it through everything stronger than ever. It saddens me to know that so many misunderstandings created years of bitterness and resentment. Many tears were shed, but I’m left feeling optimistic and am ultimately really happy with how things ended. I desperately needed that time skip to see Jin-sook and Eun-joo in particular at peace with themselves. Chan-hyuk and Eun-hee also got together so naturally. I could watch these two be in love for another 16 episodes, honestly. This show got me thinking more about the lives of my own family members, and all that I don’t know about them. Did anyone else have the urge to get a Hawaiian shirt after watching the final episode?

Do You Like Brahms: Just picked this up because it was so strongly recommended by @missvictrix, haha! Only one episode in but so far, loving the vibes. It’s so soft and understated, and that’s even reflected in the colors of the show itself. Song-ah’s passion for violin is so pure; you can tell that she loves it for the way it makes her feel. She may not have a dream, but she has a passion and I have a feeling that it’s going to get her far. There’s no set path to success, so I hate that her family and her judgemental classmates are always bringing her down. Bring on the sweet and supportive Joon-young!

Record of Youth: It feels refreshing to have so many wonderful, supportive, and kind male leads in dramaland lately. Keep ’em coming, please! Hye-joon and Jung-ha interact with such ease and there’s just something about this pairing that makes me squeal every time they fill my screen.
