Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

SailorJumun

Forest of Secrets 2: Okay, now things are cookin’. I still have to force myself to sit down and watch this, but at least I’m able to fall into the story a little easier. I’m especially into the reluctant bromance with Shi-mok and Dong-jae. What a good pair. Almost as good as Shi-mok and Yeo-jin. Speaking of which, who else felt their heart skip a beat when Shi-mok asked Yeo-jin, “You don’t draw these days?”

You From Another Star: Oh, how I’ve missed Shin Sung-rok and his character’s evilly evilness. *twists nail ring*

Currently weecapping: Graceful Friends

When I Was the Most Beautiful: I should probably not be enjoying this show as much as I am, but there’s something about it that just grabs me. Yeah, it might be overwrought and setting up all kinds of future mayhem, but there’s something so palpable about this story — I literally feel like I can reach out of my screen and grab ahold of it, from the setting to the characters. Hwan broke my heart this week with the sweetness + agony of giving-up-but-still-protecting Ye-ji, his entire “I met you when I was too young” speech, the hike with his father (so great and packed with subtext), and the way all three men were present during Ye-ji’s marriage proposal. This drama covered a heck of a lot of ground in just a few episodes, and Episode 5 was so portentous I was kind of waiting for something bad to happen… except at the same time I’m totally not ready! What is happening, show!?

Flower of Evil: I am *this much* tempted to pick this drama up again just for Kim Ji-hoon with long hair. Is that bad?

Dinner Mate: I was amply warned about the annoying 1st loves, but no one prepared me for home delightful I'd find "Keanu"! What a fun side character! I loved the OTP, too, and they're love story was so sweet and natural. I loved that ML was warm from the start.
Do You Like Brahms?: I LOVE this one! It gave me a similar feeling to A Piece of Your Mind. It's beautifully shot, well acted and I can't wait to watch these two fall in love and heal each other.
Flower of Evil:>/b> One episode was better than a full break, but I needed more! BUT, I am a little disappointed at the reveal of the big bad. I called it long ago, but I was hoping it would be a more realistic twist. I think the odds of this scenario are just so unbelievable.
Forest of Secrets: Well, lots of Beanies called this last week. Feelings of impending doom for our beloved Weasel. It's not looking good for him, but that guy has an amazing ability to survive. I'm not counting him out, yet.
Never Have I Ever: U.S. show on Netflix. I binged this one in a huge gulp yesterday. I laughed and cried and swooned. Such a great show!

Dinner Mate was such a love-hate thing for me, but you are absolutely right about Keanu and the OTP - there are some lovely glimmers of good in that show. Also can't wait for season two of Never Have I Ever - what a great ride.

Watching Forest of Secret 2 (till ep 8) and WOW. I thought this season couldn't live up to the quality of Season 1 but I realised how wrong am I to even think of that when I watched ep 7. Ep 7 and ep 8 are amazing. All of a sudden, everything seems to connect together and every loose strands in ep 1 to ep 6 start to make sense.

I love the interactions between Shi Mok and Yoo Jin - they are soul mates. Even without romance, they understand each other completely. I love them so much.

Everyone who wants to drop this. Please watch episode 7 before dropping. It's really a waste to drop this gem. I can't wait to discuss episodes 7 and 8 with someone right now.

I've been a bit in a slump since IOTNBO - I think my adrenaline dropped and left me a bit at a loss.

Reply 1988 - I'm about halfway through. I'm definitely enjoying it though I could probably put it back on the shelf fairly easily. I think I like it because it's cozy and makes me a little nostalgic. I love watching the ahjummas together - they remind me of my mother and aunts - and even just "life on the block" back when I was a kid. The sense of community, of being in and out of everyone's house, getting fed, scolded and fed again everywhere you went - I remember those days. I don't even care about all the dumb crushing these kids have on each other. I just want to go live on their street and eat hamburger steak with kimchi.

Do You Like Brahms? - I do so far, and I kind of wish I could binge it but there's no way I'll have the patience to wait. So it'll be my live watch.

Think I'll jump into Missing, too, but (like with Flower of Evil) am going to wait until they wrap. I'm hoping Do Do Sol Sol La La So will air soon since I was looking forward to that; am looking forward to Start Up (which still looks slated for October, fingers xd); and because Goo Hae-ryung helped me through a tough time, I'll be watching Run On with Shin Se-kyeong once it finally airs, too.

Been sometime since I updated here. Last round I was finishing up Train and It's okay to Not be Okay. Those dramas ended well, although Train for me great drama, but the formula to great ending for parallel universe/time travelling is a huge nut to crack.

Men are Men I am stuck at ep15, will find some motivation to complete this series till its end as I am completist, cannot leave it hanging. Need alot of patience to watch this thru its end and Covid 19 delay did not help its momentum.

LIVE watching this series 2years in but it is a wonderful gem and am left with 2more episodes. Great drama,I didnt need the romance at all though.

FLower of Evil - is so awesome. Hyeon Soo is in some deep shit as his fake self, seems to be the big bad. Waking up from a coma, now we understand why no subsequent killings. Whatever happened to the real Baek Heesung that landed him in a coma.LJK and MCW and all the cast and crew pulling their A game to film thru this pandemic. Hope all of them stay safe and healthy.
Started on ALICE, again scifi stuff, need careful and well explained world building theories for audience to fully buy what they are selling. So far it seems they not only have time travelling in the future but also gadgets for you to return looking as your younger self.I would want that pill.
Brahms and Missing the Other Side started slow for me, but I will give it more attention and hopefully pace kicks up.OCN dramas I love the theme so definitely likely to be a keeper like Train and Team Bulldog. But Brahms maybe too musical for me who is musical disinclined.

I have been following Dramabeans and their "what we're watching" for a long period now although I have never commented. I am watching only dramas that are currently airing while waiting for a few others to get complete so that I can binge watch.
Lonely enough to love: I don't know if anybody is watching this but I find it a light-hearted watch. Not record breaking but I actually liked the overall environment of the show.
Graceful friends: I knew there will be a twist regarding the missing trophy and shoes. I enjoyed the show overall although they could have actually wrapped it up in 16 episodes.
When I was the prettiest: The only saving grace of this show is its cinematography. Apart from that, the series is full of cliches. I continue to watch it mainly for the male leads.
Alice: It was hard to start the series since I was having low expectations for this one. But after the first episode, I was hooked and decided to give it a chance. Its doing a good job so far.
Do you like Brahms? : I was hesitant to start this series mainly because the last drama I watched of Kim Min Jae was flower crew Josean marriage agency where I really did not like his character. Still, something about the premier made me watch this and I instantly loved it. I loved the overall vibe of the show. It made me want to binge-watch it but I don't think I will be patient enough to wait for the series to get completed.

I only recently discovered the JTBC concert music series 'Beginagain' (of course after it had already finished airing). This season was supposed to have been filmed in the US but the COVID nixed that idea so they did social-distancing-friendly mini-concerts in Korea. Henry, Crush, Lee Hi, Su-hyun, and the legendary Lee So-ra. Wow, just wow. That's all I can say

Watching C drama My Fair Princess

Started a anime, Isekai Izakaya "Nobu"; (Alternate World Bar "Nobu"), yes, another food centric show.

A restaurant in Kyoto has a portal to Aiteria, a Medieval European country.
The end of each episode has a live action cooking segment
