Kim Hyun-joo to marry Kim Myung-min for KBS’s Miracle That We Met

The leading cast has been confirmed for KBS’s new fantasy melodrama Miracle That We Met, starring Kim Myung-min (Six Flying Dragons) as a husband and father who miraculously (or mistakenly?) finds himself living two identities in the wake of a strange accident. Playing his wife will be Kim Hyun-joo (Fantastic), which is a pretty badass pairing, and Ra Mi-ran (Buam-dong Revenge Club) has signed on to play the other wife he’ll gain through this inexplicable setup.

This is just probably going to be one of those dramas that doesn’t make sense until we watch the first episode, but the theme is actually pretty straightforward even if the mechanics aren’t. It’s about a man living someone else’s life and learning from it how to be a better husband and father. Kim Myung-min plays an ambitious, successful bank manager who has an enviable picture-perfect family with amazing wife Kim Hyun-joo and their kids. But in reality he’s a very detached, typical Korean salaryman father who’s a stranger to his own family, and his wife is very lonely.

Ra Mi-ran, on the other hand, has a very loving and happy marriage. She and her husband came from nothing but worked hard their whole lives to make a living, and are finally beginning to see the fruits of their labor in their successful Chinese restaurant. She lives a bustling, cozy life with their kids and father-in-law, until one day tragedy hits and she loses her husband in an accident.

This must be the accident that somehow leads Kim Myung-min to experience life as Ra Mi-ran’s husband, which I already find hilarious and awesome. If anyone’s going to whip him into shape to become a better man, it’s her. The premise is wacky, but this drama comes from writer Baek Mi-kyung of the equally strange but totally disparate Strong Woman Do Bong-soon and Woman of Dignity, which probably says all you need to know. Directing is PD Lee Hyung-min of Strong Woman Do Bong-soon and Ms. Temper and Nam Jung-ki.

Miracle That We Met is tentatively scheduled to air on Mondays and Tuesdays in April, following Radio Romance.

I'm super happy to see all these dramas with veteran actors taking the lead these days. A new trend in dramaland perhaps?? Regardless, the variety and additional depth it brings to dramaland is most welcome. ^^

This year is such a great year for dramaland. So many veterans come back to dramaland. Maybe there wont be many hits but the quality is great. Im loving Misty right now, its so satisfy watching

You had me at these casts, and I miss Kim Hyun-joo a lot too. Not too convinced with this combo of writer + PD but the benefit when you have such powerful veterans as the leads, they are able to elevate the script and the drama itself. Sincerely hope this one is good, Kim Hyun-joo chose this drama over another MBC weekend drama, hopefully it means this is better.

News was out today that another top veteran actress Chae Shi-ra will also make a comeback with new MBC weekend drama. I'm waiting who else will make a comeback.

This sounds (potentially) awesome but he'll probably eventually go back to his first family ,right? So what will happen to Ra Mi-ran and her children?

And why do I imagine this as an extension of her character in Buam-dong Revenge Club?

I believe this is the drama that Choi Ji Woo turned down. Seems like it will be pretty good so I wonder why she didn't want to do it. Any way I'm sure Kim Hyn Joo will do a great job with the character.

Not sure about the writer. Strong Woman just went sideways for me and was saved by the leads. I see that Woman of Dignity is now on Netflix so I might give it a go but remember it didn't seem to get a lot of love internationally until the mid-way point.

I will try this out of DF or Viki picks it up.

Yay, a new Kim Hyun Joo drama! And doubly excited that it's with Kim Myung Min and Ra Mi Ran. I haven't seen Strong Woman or Woman of Dignity but some have liked it, others not so much, so I'm kind of worried. I do trust this cast enough though to give this drama a go. Hoping it's a good one!
