[Vlog + Giveaway] Testing out the best of K-beauty with Fiddysnails and Beautytap

We’ve got an extra vlog this week (look at us, being extra productive), and we’re trying something new! (Also giving things away! Details below.)

Girlfriday and I had the chance to hang out with beauty and skincare guru Fiddysnails—aka Jude, aka editor at large of Beautytap (formerly W2Beauty)—and shot a video talking about some of the best K-beauty products of the past year. (Mostly, she told us what she thought was the best and we played with products.)

We know Beanies love a good poll, so you may be interested to know that Beautytap is holding a “Best of” poll of their own: the Beautytap 2017 K-Beauty Awards. If you’re as beauty-obsessed as girlfriday and I are, you’ll have lots of opinions about products, and this is your chance to let us know what’s your holy grail product (or what everyone should stay far, far away from).

And to make things more fun, we’re giving away a box of 10 beauty products from the “Best Of” nominees. Free K-beauty!

GIVEAWAY RULES:

  • Comment below with your 3 favorite K-beauty products of 2017. Make sure you comment with a registered account, and you’ll be entered to win!

  • BONUS: Get a second chance to win! Hop over to Beautytap, register an account, and leave the same comment here (your 3 favorite products).

Everyone who comments on Beautytap will also receive a 10% off coupon code to use on your entire purchase at Beautytap. (Coupon applies to your entire cart, although not on sale items or in conjunction with other codes. Coupons will be sent out after the giveaway closes.)
  •

  • Giveaway is open for a week, until December 20, 2017 at 11:59 PM (Pacific Time). We’ll contact the winner directly.

Good luck!

As always, you can check out the Dramabeans Youtube channel directly, where you can subscribe for updates.

This year was the year I fully inmersed myself in kbeauty (my bank account can attest to it).

The first product I fell madly in love with was the YADAH Collagen sheet masks. I LOVE sheetmaks but I sometimes have trouble finding masks that don’t irritate my skin. This YADAH sheet mask is amazing. I’m at that age where I can feel the elasticity in my skin fading away (insert Song Hye Kyo single tear gif here) and I really appreciate the collagen boost that this sheet masks gives my skin. Highly recommend.

Product number two: Mizon snail repair eye cream. I especially recommend this product to my fellow dry under eye ladies.

And finally..... drumroll.... the Laneige water sleeping mask. It’s lifr changing. And while I was incredibly skepticle of all the raving reviews I am now fully onboard. It’s probably the best moisturizing sleeping mask in the market. Period.

I also love the Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream! I once found the tube version on an online store and loved how much more convenient it is than the glass pot. But since then I haven't been able to find them.

This is exciting. I went through a phase where I was so obsessed with K-beauty that I would buy without thinking about it. Sometimes, it was just the packaging. Now I need to cut back on spending so much. These 3 I would buy again if I could.

Su:m37 - Secret Programming Essence
Belif - moisturizing bomb
Sulwhasoo - Perfecting Cushion

Ohh this is pretty easy:

1. The Peripera Peri's ink, originals (I have all five colors, and wear them all the time). Can't wait to try the velvets.

2. The Innisfree No Sebum powder. It's so silky smooth and perfect for my oiliness in summer and is great for setting my concealer now that it's cold out.

3. Benton aloe propolis soothing gel. It's so light and perfect for summer when it's too hot for heavy moisturizer; but then it's also perfect for layering under heavier moisturizer in winter. Plus the aloe is great for soothing skin when I have breakouts or sensitivity from threading. I used to use straight aloe from the plant but that was messy and hard to travel with, so this was a good compromise.

1. Pyunkang yul essence toner - little discernible scent, short ingredient list, and pretty affordable for 200ml. My skin has been loving this lately. I do 3 or more skins and my skin is super plump and hydrated.
2. Cosrx rice overnight mask - great texture but the smell was quite off putting at first (it smells like most rice products) so if you are sensitive to scents this might not be for you. But everytime I use it my skin looks great and feels great in the morning.
3. Banila Co. miss flower and mr honey cream - feels luxurious and has a lovely honey scent. It's quite occlusive and makes my skin sticky so I only use it at night as my last step.

I love the manyo factory galactomyces niacin essence. Helped a lot with fading acne scars. Also, cosrx snail essence, holy grail for this girls combination skin to keep it moisturized. And last but not least Belif aqua bomb moisturizer. No shame I'm on my 6th one, is that good!

My top 3 K beauty products would definitely be 1) Hanskin Hyaluron Skin Essence: i have combo/dry skin and this is kind of pricey but it has made my face feel so hydrated and gives me a dewy look which i love (especially during the winter months) I also love that this essence doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky or tacky like some hydrating essences do. It makes my skin feel smooth and clear.
2) Cosrx Triple C Lightening Liquid: i'm always looking for products that will brighten up my skin especially around my mouth area due to hyperpigmination and this product showed a pretty noticeable difference. I would definitely recommend this product to others!
3) Low PH Good Morning Cleanser Cosrx: This cleanser made my skin feel so fresh and clean. It's really gentle and has a very slight cooling sensation which I absolutely love!

I have very oily acne-prone skin with large pores so I found it really hard to find skincare stuff that takes care of these + has anti-aging benefits. I did make some discoveries this year. Hopefully, my skin doesn't develop a resistance and I can continue using them!

1. Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch - MY HOLY GRAIL!!!! I just slap on this miracle worker on a zit, leave overnight, and voila! It's like I never had that zit in the morning.

2. Mizon All-in-One Snail Skin Repair Cream - This was my first snail skincare stuff, and so far it remains unbeaten in effectivity. My acne-prone skin remained smooth and supple the whole time I was using this. I tried other snail creams and moisturizers since using this up, but this one remains the best.

3. It's Skin Hyaluronic Acid Moisture Toner - I live in a tropical country so it's pretty much summer weather 24/7, 12 months/year (it's slightly cooler in December-February but still). This toner is moisturizing enough that I can use it as my day moisturizer but light enough that my face doesn't turn into a grease ball within a few hours, and it doesn't break me out. I also noticed that my smile lines lessened after a few weeks of using this. Definitely restocking.

Some K-beauty favorites this year:
- Cosrx Birch Sap Lotion: I'm also a fan of their snail essence, BHA, and cleanser, but I was surprised by how much I liked this! Super hydrating yet feels light on the skin, and didn't break me out.
- Clio Water Me Please BB Cream: gives a really natural semi-matte finish that is moisturizing and doesn't accentuate flakiness or dry patches
- Scinic First Treatment Essence: In terms of first essence, this one was great for calming my skin, giving a bit of glow, helping minimize pores, and just overall improving the appearance of my skin. Definitely better than the Nature Republic one, although the Missha one is probably still slightly better. The Secret Key Rose one also gave a similar effect!

Missha Under Eye Brightener - Best concealer ever! Matches my asian skintone perfectly and is super cheap! I always come back to it even after buying brand name concealers.
Laniege sleeping mask - like a burst of hydration in a bottle. Great for lazy nights when I don't to mess with a sheet mask.
Missha The First Treatment Essence - known as the SKII knockoff and while it doesn't seem like its doing much at first, when I stop using it my skin feels a lot drier so it definitely does make a difference, just not a quick dramatic one.

Love reading everyone's top picks. But as a K-beauty lover its just feeding the addiction to buy more! I need to try all these recommendations now!!

My skin texture and health improved drastically since I started using K-Beauty products (it's been 6 years now)!! It is difficult to select just 3 favourite products from so many new ones that I tried this year... but here they are (in no particular order :-) :

Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner
Cosrx Ultimate Nourishing Rice Spa Mask
Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask (what Jude said is the absolute truth... this basically changes your skin overnight!!)

Love you guys.... keep up the good work!! <3

This year I really focused more and my skincare than makeup. I have very sensitive skin and I am so happy with the results I've had. My most loved products were:
1. SanDaWha Ultra Rich Hydrating Camellia Floral Water Cream. - This moisturizer is so lovely and hydrating for my skin! Very creamy and non-sticky. Very gentle.
2. Troiareuke ACSEN Toc Toner - An awesome hydrating toner with AHA and BHA! I love it so much, it helps keep my acne away without irritating my skin.
3. Swanicoco Centella Asiatica Salve - This is a soothing gel that helps me out when my skin gets very dry, or red. I've also used it to 'spot-calm' my cystic acne successfully. I only use a little bit at a time because it is so rich.

Thank you so much for hosting this! :)
