Reunited Worlds holds first script read, adds to supporting cast

Looks like Yeo Jin-gu (Circle) will be jumping from one drama set to another: SBS’s upcoming Reunited Worlds held its first script reading recently, which sounds kind of late considering the show is scheduled to premiere in less than a month. The show has also added Lee Shi-un (My Sassy Girl) and Kim Ga-eun (Jackpot) to its supporting cast, as Yeo Jin-gu’s high school friend and younger sister, respectively.

I will never say no to more Yeo Jin-gu, but I find it mildly amusing that he’s going from one drama with two timelines as a character that’s presumed dead for a time, directly into another one with essentially the same premise. Though, tonally, I don’t expect Reunited Worlds to be anything like Circle, since it’s described as a fantasy rom-com, which Circle certainly isn’t. He will be playing Sung Hye-sung, who should be 31 years old, but returns from the “dead” as the 18-year old he was when he supposedly died.

He will reconnect with Lee Yeon-hee’s (Hwajeong) character, 31-year old Jung Jung-won, who has been a chef’s assistant for the past five years in order to realize her not-so-dead best friend’s dream of becoming a chef in his stead. Jung Jung-won is described as bright and tomboyish, and coupled with her impressive loyalty, I think I’ll enjoy her character in spite of my reservations about Lee Yeon-hee. Here’s also to hoping that IOI’s Jung Chae-yeon (Drinking Solo), who plays Jung-won at 18, will develop a solid onscreen bond with Yeo Jin-gu so that the emotional weight carries over to their reunion 13 years later.

The third leg of our requisite love triangle is Ahn Jae-hyun’s (Cinderella and the Four Knights) Cha Min-joon character, a handsome, gentle chef-restaurateur who will fall for Jung Jung-won. After watching his stints on New Journey to the West and Newlywed Diaries, I was honestly kind of impressed by his cooking, so I won’t have any trouble believing him as a chef.

Lee Shi-un and Kim Jin-woo (Remember—Son’s War) will play Hye-sung’s buddies from high school, and I wonder if the men will have younger counterparts too, a la Lee Yeon-hee and Jung Chae-yeon. Although it might be pretty funny as a visual gag if they played their high school selves as well. Yeo Jin-gu’s two younger siblings will be played by Kwak Dong-yeon (Moonlight Drawn By Clouds) and Kim Ga-eun, who I’m sure are in for a big surprise when their long-dead older brother shows up at their door, possibly younger than they are in the present. If nothing else, I’m pretty excited for all the age-identity-etiquette conflicts that’ll arise from Hye-sung’s return, and I hope they mine as much comedy from the premise as they can.

SBS’s Reunited Worlds will follow currently airing Suspicious Partner and premiere in the Wednesday-Thursday slot on July 19.

Give it a few more dramas and it'll become a catnip for some already. :D Hehe!

I actually dislike love triangle, love square, hexagon or whatsoever....I prefer two pairs of separate OTPs in a drama....but that is quite rare in Kdramaland....

I KNOW RIGHT?! I've been saying this forever but it seems like the drama gods have rarely heard my plea. The secondary couples in both DOTS and Goblin killed me (and bromance of course) while I couldn't find it in me to care much about the leads' loveline, so it is clear by these two dramas (though I'm sorry I can't think of any other eg. not written by Kim Eun Sook) that it can be done well, and it can work very much in favor for the drama. So I can't understand why it can't be done more often instead of the messy and highly irritating love triangles/squares or who knows what these days. Worse still I hate it when the couple I ship does not end up together (curse u SLS).

Miss Korea had an adorable secondary couple!

The synopsis sounds promising. I think I'm gonna have a heart break as the main OTP may not gonna be an end game.

Nooo! I just want YJG to be happy! He looks so cute when he's smiling. And hey, things worked out just fine in High School King of Savvy.

I can't imagine anyone watching circle without becoming his fan. He's just SO good. I've been thinking throughout circle's run that the U.K. Or US should do a remake because it could seriously benefit from a bigger budget ;however, after watching episode 11 tonight, I realized it really wouldn't be as good without the stellar acting. If there is a remake they've got to hire an actor that is as good as Yeo Jin gu. That will be no easy tasks.

Ahn Jae-hyun!!! The premise of this drama sounds all kinds of weird and crazy but sometimes those really turn out to be the best dramas :P

Um, why would anyone down vote that? Ha! I totally agree with you! Love the premise and age "difference", I'm excited to see the hilarious results. Seeing as it's romcom, I'm hoping for something similar to BIG (what it was) but please more comedy and a different ending. Lol

It does seem like a late first reading considering its premiere date but it wouldn't be the first time it happens in drama history.
Despite my doubts over Lee Yeon Hee, the rest of the cast looks to good to not give the drama a try. I mean look at Yeo Jin Goo's bright smile! You can't say no to that!

And he'll be reunited with Kim Ga-eun. They didn't have many scenes together in Jackpot, but they made me laugh when they did.

I remember that scene where she didn't realize he's a prince and he punished her by making her raise her hands. So because of that scene, I can now totally picture them as oppa-dongsaeng. LOL

After Circle, I could probably watch Yeo Jin-gu do a dramatic reading of his grocery list and come away from it emotionally compromised, so no matter how this turns out I'm gonna give it a try

Hands up if you have watched Circle ep 11 and spontaneously scoff at "He will be playing Sung Hye-sung, who should be 31 years old, but returns from the “dead” as the 18-year old he was when he supposedly died."

Turns out Woojin got lost in drama world, and screams at how this drama premise picked up from where circle possibly left LOLOLOL

HAHAHAHAHA, at least Woo-jin will be happy somewhere, right? Saw episode 11, then saw three more episodes of three more shows to distract myself and attempt to reassemble my shattered heart, but I'm still looking for pieces. What. A. Show. ?

I honestly have a weak heart for huge age gap. Tunning in for sure! It's even better that their premier is less than a month.
And of course I sound weird.

I wanna be excited for this drama but Lee Yeon-hee... *sighs* I'm worried that when YJG and LYH are both onscreen that I won't be sold on the ~ship~ because while YJG can convince me of anything, LYH, yeah, nah. Will still watch this one though!

Yeo Jingoo is such a ray of sunshine. Look at him being really cheerful. I'm hoping for a good story. Well since this is a rom-com, it's nice he's doing something light after Circle.
