Rock the vote with Suspicious Partner

The production team behind Suspicious Partner is really putting some effort into their teasers for this drama, which I love. Continuing with the election theme, the latest teaser videos feature a runoff election between the Suspicious Party and the Partner Party.

In the first teaser, Ji Chang-wook (The K2) runs for the Suspicious Party, looking every bit the polished politician as he points grandly at the sky and the caption reads, “This is my first romantic comedy as an actor, I will make it the best romantic comedy of my life.”

Next up is Nam Ji-hyun (Shopping King Louis), running for the Partner Party, looking determined in a traditional black and white “people’s” hanbok as she raises a fist in the air. The caption reads, “Amazingly suspicious and insanely lovable.”

In the second set of teasers, Ji Chang-wook stands stoically for a moment before turning on the charm with a thumbs-up and wide grin. The caption reads “Look at my eyes, in unity, we stand together.” Nam Ji-hyun is up next, this time dressed in modern clothes. She starts out sitting stiffly, but then switches to a carefree attitude and flips her hair jauntily. Her caption reads, “No more genre dramas, now I’m making a heart-racing rom-com.”

Each teaser ends with the phrase: “May 9 is for the presidential election, May 10 is for Suspicious Partner.” The Suspicious Partner production team said they planned the teasers as an idea to raise awareness about voting day for the presidential election, which is a hot topic in Korea right now, as well as for their drama. In addition, they have other promotional events planned both online and offline and they ask for the fans’ participation. Personally, I love how they keep reminding us how important we are in the success of the drama, just like how politicians are always telling us how much they need our vote.

SBS’s Wednesday-Thursday drama Suspicious Partner will start its run on May 10 (the day after the election), following the end of Saimdang, Light’s Diary.
