A flirty prince and a tragic twist in Ruler–Master of the Mask

Okay, this new teaser for Ruler–Master of the Mask is pretty adorable. The prince is a total flirt! From what we’ve seen of MBC’s new historical melodrama so far, it appeared to be rife with tension and epic tragedy, about a prince forced to hide his face behind a mask and a young woman who vows to get revenge on him. But in the latest teaser, there’s youthful love and a whole lot of cheeky flirting from the prince… before the tragic twist brings on a shower of tears. Hey, I didn’t say the show became a comedy, did I?
Yoo Seung-ho (Remember–Son’s War) stars as a lonely Joseon prince who is forced to wear a mask, a mystery that drives him out of the palace in search of answers about his own past. Kim So-hyun (Bring It On, Ghost) is a young noblewoman from a family of warriors, described as fiercely independent and unladylike. Atta girl. L (She’s So Lovable) co-stars as a lowly butcher’s son with a brilliant mind who will become a stand-in for the prince, and Yoon So-hee (Memory) is the granddaughter of the prince’s greatest enemy.
In the teaser, the prince reveals himself inside a palanquin and shares a charged moment with Kim So-hyun… and then suddenly asks, “Am I good-looking?” which earns him an incredulous look. Uh, is he joking, or does he actually not know because he’s worn a mask all his life? He starts following her around eagerly, peppering her with questions: “What’s your name? Are you betrothed to anyone?” Her father feeds him happily and invites the young man to come by their home often, much to her embarrassment.
But then a tragic twist changes everything, and the heroine watches in horror as the masked prince publicly executes her father. The copy reads: “A wrong start. Crisscrossed fates.” The prince is trapped inside the palace as he wails, “Please!” and his voice shakes as he asks, “What do you mean it’s all my fault?” Kim So-hyun screams, “Why?!” but all he can say in the end is, “I’m truly sorry.”
I would be more upset about the loss of innocent puppy love if I didn’t already know this was a story where she’ll fall in love with the prince she vows to kill, but I’ll be selfish and hope for my sake that we get to spend a fair amount of time with princey loverboy before tragedy strikes.
Ruler–Master of the Mask follows Radiant Office on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning May 10.

I assume that it's actually the proxy prince L who kills Kim So Hyun's father and that it's the cause of a big misunderstanding. Of course, nobody would know that there are two princes so she would assume it's the real prince who killed him. And she met Yoo Seung Ho while he was undercover so they will probably fall in love without her knowing he's the prince and he'll be scared to tell her the truth because she hates him. Eventually she finds out the truth and it blows up in his face and she also believe he killed her father because he already lied to him. Or something. I could be wrong but I'm suspecting it will happen something like that.
Either way, I'm so excited for this drama!

I've never cried as much from a drama as I cried during Remember. I was crying multiple times almost every episode, it was ridiculous. How I actually emotionally survived through the entire show I have no idea. (Well, yes I do -- the powerhouse acting from all the actors.)

Yoon So Hee is sooo pretty. Maybe its just me but I find the side hair too long. I feel uncomfortable just by looking at it. But I do appreciate that the hairstyle of the girls here are not the usual joseon braid

So, it like The Princess Man but more extreme. In Princess Man, the main lead father kill the other lead father. Here, the lead himself kill the father. I want to see how the main actress portray her sadness and how she take revenge. Still cry thinking in princess man where she said to the lead to aim to kill her in the future whiles in the dungeon so that he won't kill himself.

With L playing a major role here, I hope he is able to deliver, especially when he's alongside such talented costars.
The writers and film director really did a great job with this one, from what I can tell through the teasers. Hurry up, May 10th!

Some beanies mentioned before that L's acting is inconsistent. He's good in one drama & pretty bad to another. It seems like the production team is capable of delivering an epic drama. I hope the directing & execution will somehow help L to showcase the good actor in him. Random comment: He looks so different without make up and eyeliner LOL

It might end up with a happy ending for the couple still, who knows? Maybe the writers will take a chapter out of Tale of Two Cities and have L and YSH switch places at the end. L will die as King and YSH will get the girl? Or who knows, maybe everything will have been the evil machinations of the prime minister (as it tends to be in these historic pieces) and L and YSH will overthrow the PM and YSH will prove his innocence! Yeah, just speculations. Basically, looking forward to this drama. :)

The character description says Kim So-hyun is from a family of warriors... I hope her character lives up to that and becomes a total fighting warrior badass. Speaking of which, Yoon So-hee's character looks super awesome in the stills. I really like her outfit; it's beautiful and looks action-ready.

Honestly, when I read about her family of warriors, I immediately thought of her Goblin oraboni, Kim Shin and thought how cool it'd be for him to cameo. Totally ridiculous and not gonna happen, I know, but thought that was a fun connection. ANYWAYS, I think she'll be a pretty cool heroine since her character is "fiercely independent and unladylike." As for Yoon So-hee, I'm not a fan of hers, but I'm totally diggin' her looks based on the stills, too!

Omg if they could get that cameo... That would be the BEST. Yeah seriously hoping for a fierce and awesome heroine. KSH can pull it off, so it'll just be on the writer and director to give her a good character to act with :)
I don't think I've seen Yoon So-hee in anything, so am pretty neutral about her at the moment.

I have repeated the teaser a few times and every time I heard Ga Eun scream "Father!" I feel like someone is tearing my heart that it's even hurt. Already feel like to cry, why their fate is tragic. And I don't know Yoo Seung Ho flirts can be this hot especially his sexy warm voice. May 10th seems so far away ?
