Casting carries on for Woman With a Suitcase with Jeon Hye-bin and Lee Joon

 photo SuitcaseWomanJHB_LJ1.jpg

The love quadrilateral for MBC legal drama Woman With a Suitcase is slowly settling into place. Choi Ji-woo (Twenty Again) and Joo Jin-mo (Beloved Eun-dong) are headlining, forming the main romance line, and now Lee Joon (Vampire Prosecutor) and Jeon Hye-bin (Oh Hae-young Again) are considering joining them to complete the rest of the square.

Woman With a Suitcase will portray the story of an ex-convict, played by Choi Ji-woo, who was wrongfully framed for a white-collar crime she didn’t commit, and her subsequent revenge on her fraudulent accusers. Before her prison stint, she was a successful office manager, but ends up becoming a lawyer in order to gain enough power to seek retribution. Joo Jin-mo’s character is a media mogul, who acts as a daddy long-legs to Choi Ji-woo by quietly supporting and helping her achieve her dreams.

If she confirms, Jeon Hye-bin, also known as the Pretty Oh Hae-young, will transform into a capable lawyer who’s reputed to be tough as nails. She doesn’t mean to come across as cold and fierce; it’s just that growing up under a stepmother who resented her father for bankrupting their family has made her defensive, often causing her to lash out preemptively.

Lee Joon is considering a role as the ultimate sexy and brainy lawyer who outwardly seems to have everything. But a little delving into his affairs reveals that he’s behind on the rent for his office space, for his failing law practice that employs only one other person beside himself. For Lee Joon, this drama will be a reunion with writer Kwon Eun-mi, who also was behind his breakout role in Gap-dong

Jeon Hye-bin made an early debut and has had a long presence in the entertainment industry, but recently shot to popularity due to Oh Hae-young Again. Lee Joon just completed the OCN series Vampire Detective, and I’ve been looking forward to him being free again to tackle more lighthearted optimistic material, after two back-to-back darker dramas. Alas, he’s headed into another revenge plot, but on the bright side, his character seems to be the least scarred of the four.

Legal melodrama Woman With a Suitcase will start airing this September after Monster finishes its run.

So, it sounds like Joo Jin-mo and Choi Ji-woo are confirmed, that's wonderful. I'm fully behind casting of Lee Joon and Jeon Hae-bin. Thanks for the news.

It makes sense: a Woman With a Suitcase is On the Way to the Airport! I keep getting confused too lol

I hope Joonie accept this role in the drama. And please do make a transformation in his style. It is unrealistic to see the actors with the same look in all dramas ._.

Why don't they give the two 2nd leads their own drama? They are more than capable.

mte. It drives me nuts when talents like Jeon Hye-bin get ignored in favor of mainstream stars. Has no one in dramaland seen her work in Queen Insoo?? This is a girl that go head-to-head with goddesses like Chae Si-ra.

lol. I wonder how Flower in Prison is going...

I've become addicted to Jeong Do-jeon btw. Jo Jae-hyun and Yoo Dong-geun are almost too much awesome to handle.

As expected lol.
I'd rather rewatch Jeong Do-jeon. Kind of sad that it might be the last real sageuk we'd get to watch.
Love those two and I'm glad that Jo Jae-hyun will be around for a while but I'm not so sure about Yoo Dong-geun though.

Did you get to finish Im Kkeokjeong?

I wonder about her performance too in FIP. If I have time, i will check the viewers' opinion on her.

I got about halfway through IKJ, and then life got in the way. The problem is that when I can't watch for a while I lose momentum, and then when I have time again I can't resist shiny new dramas and end up leaving things unfinished. I really need to go back and finish it, though. What I saw was immense.

Are you watching any sageuk these days? :)

@sera. Who knows, maybe she's doing better than expected! It would be hard for her to do worse tbh.

I watched the sageuk movie "Musa" and I tried watching 2 eps of Flower in Prison. There is just nothing in it to keep me watching. Kim Mi-Sook has very limited screen-time.

I'm not a fan of web novel sageuks but I'm looking forward to Moonlight Dawn cause I miss Kim Yoo-jung.

As far as I know Jin Se Yeon does well in FIP, at least if it was bad people would complain on every-single-episode

lol maybe she is not aggressive like Jin Se-yeon (or know the right person). PD Lee in FIP said he was impressed with JSY because she was very aggressive at casting time.

At least she was good in all dramas that I've watched including Queen Insoo. I liked her first in King and I (with Jun Gwang-yeol) even though she had short appearance.

Aah... Lee Joon again... (not Vampire Prosecutor but Vampire Detective?) ... Let's see whether a few fan girls of his sexy pole dancing have noticed this news yet. :)

It's a sad day when someone with the kind of potential Jeon Hye-bin has shown has to play second fiddle to someone like Choi Ji-woo...but then that's every day in dramaland.

What's wrong with choi ji woo playing the lead role? ?

She's very cute, I'll give her that, and she's probably perfectly fine for this kind of project. Really the problem is that Jeon Hye-bin shouldn't be wasted on a role like this--she should be getting leads, or at least supporting roles in meatier projects. Her star hasn't risen to the point where dramaland will give her the kind of chances she deserves, though, which is frustrating, to say the least. Not that there are many good roles these days, anyway.

Oh even I do agreed that Jeon Hye Bin is talented and capable enough to be the lead in a drama, but Choi Ji Woo is good enough too. I just recently opened up with her acting even though she has been in the industry for a long time, thanks to Twenty Again and Suspicious Housekeeper.

The thing is, JHB probably choose what roles she wants to do instead of taking main lead role but get wasted. In this I somehow agreed if this is her choice.

Yeah, I'm probably being a bit pushy because I'm a fan of hers, but she's such an explosive talent and her choices rarely tap into that potential. It's her career, and I'm glad she's gotten this far. I just think she can get so much farther it's ridiculous. Her performance in Queen Insoo proves that, if nothing else.

Yes, she deserves better. As long as she is not going to be a bitchy second lead, it is OK.

Hopefully she can do more sageuk. Ppl needs to really how good she is actually.

I like all four potential leads so I'll be really happy if they all sign on. But like many comments here, I'm still waiting for the day Jeon Hye Bin gets a leading role. She is perfectly capable of handling it. It's sad how some deserving actors and actresses just can't seem to get out of playing second fiddle.

Oh man Lee Joon, i need to see him in something better to erase the memories of Vampire Detective - that show was such a waste of his talent, and definitely deserves better. Better to do some good roles before he takes his next leap towards a big lead show.

Oh dear! I do hope Jeon Hye-bin isn't getting type cast as a second lead in a love triangle/square.

And I prefer Lee Joon in action dramas. Not that he isn't good in melos, but he does very well in thrillers.

I'm on board for all 4 leads.
