Jung Yumi, Baro added to Master: God of Noodles
by javabeans
And the castings keep rolling in for the redundantly titled Master: God of Noodles, the upcoming KBS melodrama adapted from a manhwa that combines noodle-making with revenge. Well, they say revenge is a dish best served cold. (Badum-ching!) Now Jung Yumi (Maids) has been cast in the leading lady role, and Baro (Angry Mom) is set to portray a childhood counterpart to a lead character.
Jung Yumi’s character is described as having suffered through a difficult childhood and adolescence, which toughens her up, though she’s got a soft heart underneath the outer shell. It doesn’t say explicitly that she’ll have a loveline with our hero, but this is a K-drama so is there really any chance she won’t? That would be the character played by Chun Jung-myung (Heart to Heart), and he’ll be out to reclaim his stolen identity and mete out revenge on the wrongdoer. While also learning how to make a killer bowl of noodles, of course, since he’ll also be aiming to become the master at that.
He’ll have stiff competition in Jo Jae-hyun’s character, another master of noodles who happens to have stolen his identity when they were younger in a desperate bid to change his life and pull himself out of dire straits. Baro will play the young version of the character, which is great casting because even though we’ve seen him play the asshole before (Angry Mom), he’s really best at being the sweet, innocent youngster that you can’t help but feel for (Answer Me 1994, God’s Gift—14 Days). That will go a long way toward humanizing our future villain before he decides to toughen himself up to survive in the harsh world, growing into an ambition-filled adult.
Master: God of Noodles will dish out its revenge starting April 20, airing as a Wednesday-Thursday drama.

It's a different Jung Yumi lol.
This is the one who was in Discovery of Love/cameo-ed in Answer Me 1994, SFD Jung Yumi (also from Maids) is a totally different person.

The Jung Yumi in the photo isn't Discovery of Romance and Reply 1994's Jung Yumi though.

I love the Jung Yumi (YAI's close friend) that you are talking about. I was kind of excited thinking it was her.

I'm fairly certain we know who we're talking about.

Jung Yumi was the heart and soul in Maids. He acted in 95% of the whole drama's scenes. With a good script and this great cast I think she can't go wrong. She becomes better and better with each project. I like her.
Baro's best performance was by far in God's Gift, a series that did not belong in kdramaland to begin with. He can be memorable, given the right, smaller role. I did like him in Reply'94, he didn't do anything extraordinary but he did add his own touch to the role. I still remember him looking at Trash oppa with puppy eyes. And yes, I felt sorry for him, lol

Jung Yu Mi actually do a good job in a meaty role. Maid was almost carried by her alone..☺i think melodrama & sageuk suits her more.
yet to watch 6FD, but I think she left a good impression. looking forward for her acting here.

I LOL more than I ought to. This drama's premise is plain weird. So many weird premises these days a - I suppose in an effort to be different? I'm going to tune in simply for the tone. Just can't figure out if it's sort of action comedy or melo (despite them claiming it as the latter). The name is messing up my ability to judge lol.

(Badum-Ching!)
I LOL'd so hard.
Generally I like my kdrama to have humor with the melo but I've already laughed so hard at the comments over the title(s) of this show, it can skip over the funny.

With kdrama starting to get inspiration from manhwas, it's not surprising that the premises get weirder. It's why a lot of jdramas have had these odd premises for years.

I like Baro. But I do not like JYM. I will watch this mostly for Jo Jae-Heyon and Baro - not really liking the rest of the cast.

Wow the premise is so unappealing (well at least for me) but it has Jo Jae Hyun. And now it brings Jung Yoo Mi.
Gosh. I love her so much and that character descriptions sounds much like Yeonhee.
Baro also did a good job in Angry Mom tbh
Now i am beyond tempted with this, praying this would be good >.<
