2015 Beanie Awards: Vote for your favorite dramas of the year

Can you believe it’s December?! Where did my year gooooooo. On the upside, that means the 2015 Beanie Awards are here, and it’s your chance to weigh in on all your favorites (and less-than-favorites) of the year. We’ll also be kicking off our annual Year-End Review Extravaganza, which will be a little different this year with a slightly altered format—keep an eye out as we post the reviews in the coming days and weeks!

You can browse the reviews of previous years using this handy Year In Review tag, and check out past polls. Due to the death of Twiigs, the polling service we used in past years, we had lost all the poll information from past years, but were able to retrieve the majority thanks to reader tips about the Wayback Machine. (Thanks again! We owe you!) Sadly we may never again see what brilliant entries and responses we had in 2011 or 2014, which I’m sure were stunning and irreplaceable and probably our best work, since there’s no way to confirm that it wasn’t. Just trust us on that one!

Courtesy of the Wayback Machine and +PrtScn:

Oh, due to popular request, we opened up some of the larger categories to multiple choice voting, although most of the polls are still one-choice-only. (If the indecision brings you pain, it just proves you care!) Let the angsting commence! (The polls will be open until the end of the year, so you can come back on January 1 to see the final results. And psssst… you can vote once a day!)

Finishing it right now :-) I did vote for it in a couple of categories; the ex-girlfriends are my favourite friends, frenemies, odd couples, and any group category :-) . True, it is a pity it didn't get more buzz back then. So refreshing, all the fun without the angst...

favorite category? favorite Ji Sung. i chosed Cha Do hyun, not because he's my fave but because he's the one i love the most. Shin Se ki? the one who break my heart. Ahn Yoo Na and Perry Park, my faves! i can't chose between those two.

Sadly i haven't watched many dramas this year (more sadly i watched dramas like Jeckill and Hyde or Masked Prosecutor and The time i love you (not complete) out of fangirlness) but it was all KMHM's fault. ever since i watched KMHM i'm watching previous Ji Sung's dramas (and rewatching)

Currently swooning over oh my venus, though

so my love for So Ji Sub and my LOVE to all Ji Sung's characters. you rocked them all. you made me you love and admire you so much... <333

Punch and Healer are my top choice. But, if i were too choose one of them to be my favorite drama for 2015, my vote will go to Punch as everything from the drama (storyline to the acting) definitely packed a punch!

I'm all late to the party :-(

I know only, like, 2 people watched Mrs Cop (and I'm one of those that stuck it out until the end). BUT...
The final kiss between Lee Da-Hee and Son Ho-Jun was EVERYTHING!!!! It really deserved to be in the Best kiss category.

My favorite drama of this drama of this year is HYDE JEKYLL ME. And im not agreed with some of his classification in this poll. But it is not important. There are many Healer, Twenty again.....lovers and there are also many HYDE JEKYLL ME lovers :)
Rating don't define a drama; Rating Korea is an indice but it doesn't statuate of the quality of a drama
I really like HYDE JEKYLL ME and i want that all people here know it; i'll support it forever
This drama really made my kdrama life and the less i can do is to write this post
:) :) :)

I have a feeling Healer will sweep the categories given how popular it was here at DB..

I was also surprised at how many disappointing dramas there were this year, Warm & Cozy, Time I Loved You.., Hyde, WAY:2015, even She was pretty wasn't as good as I was hoping.

The most memorable overall dramas for me this year-
good: AM1988, KMHM, OMG, IRY and Angry Mom
bad: WAY 2015..

Healer will probably be the big winner, it actually was in all spanish-speaking sites I follow. By the way, our beloved Beanie Girls, I can't see the voting list in a couple of categories in my laptop, I don't know why.
And on another note, thought I'm currently having super great time with Oh My Venus and I have a Lover, I have a problem voting them since neither has ended so I can't truly have an overall view about them. For instance if the voting was in the first eight episodes of Oh My Ghost, I'd vote for it in all categories but now... yeah, not so much... Another nominee I can't fathom is Imaginary Cat. Three episodes, one translated, how am I supposed to have an opinion?
Anyhow, it's been great voting for yet another year, looking forward for many more. Kisses!

And then I thought I Remember You will score higher. I love Healer too and it's definitely not overrated, but I think the directing and gripping stories were better in I Remember You. It was such an underrated drama. Park Bo Gum alone should swipe every award on that list though :p hahaha anyway, hope it'll be a daebak year for Park Bo Gum. Yay!

"HEART TO HEART: Dating your shrink is okay if he's also your boss. Wait."

That line made me guffaw! My butt laughed itself off, for reals!!

Most dysfunctional couple - Hah!! I still loved them. This was my favorite drama of the year.

My best drama was Healer. I only watched it once, but I'll never forget.

My fave Ji Sung in KMHM was Shin Se Gi. My God! He was life.

Aiii, so many dramas I saw, and each had somethings that stuck with me in a good way. Blood, Hyde, Jekyll Me, Scholar Who Walks the Night and all those dramas that got a bad rap this year - they had SOME shining moments, and that's why they'll always have some fans.

My shock fave drama, among other, was I Remember You. It just creeps up on you from behind. Hive five to the Bromance of 2015!!

And just so many kdramas to love. I can't name them all. Polls never do real justice, but it lets us scratch the surface, so thank you for reminding us of what an awesome year for dramas it's been!!

Favorite 2016 Kdramas
Punch, Kill Me, Heal Me, Sassy Go Go, My Beautiful Bride, and Heard It Through The Grapevine.

Glad I watched, sure did enjoy the show!
Angry Mom, Beloved Eun-Dong, Falling For Innocence, Girl Who Sees Smells, Heart To Heart, I Remember You, Last, Mask, Missing Noir M, The Producers, Valid Love, and Yong-Pal.

Fair to Middling / Moderately-Good:
She Was Pretty, Shine Or Go Crazy, and Village: Secret Of Achiara.

Comme Ci Comme Ça. Watched and it was good but not necessarily 'The Best.'
Ho-Gu’s Love, Oh My Ghostess, Scholar Who Walks The Night, Spy, and Strange Daughter-In-Law.

Watching once was more than enough.
Hyde, Jekyll, Me, My Heart Twinkle Twinkle, and Persevere, Gu Hae-Ra.

Riled me up big time...a strong dislike for certain aspects of it.
Warm & Cozy and Who Are You: School 2015

Overrated: Healer (For a prolonged period of time this year, to say so here on Dramabeans was at times blasphemy/often qualified as a blasphemous thought.)

On Pause: What's With This Family

Dropped/Didn't Finish. More than likely won’t either.
Blood, D-Day, High Society, Masked Prosecutor, Mrs. Cop, My Daughter Geum Sa-Wol, Orange Marmalade, and Superdaddy Yeol.

Intend to watch/get around to at some point. All in good time:
Ex-Girlfriend Club, Let’s Eat 2, Maids, Master Of Trade: Inn 2015, Midnight Diner, Six Flying Dragons, and Twenty Again.

Currently Watching:
Awl, Bubblegum, Imaginary Cat, Oh My Venus

Addendum:

Watching once was more than enough.
Bluebird's House, Hyde, Jekyll, Me, My Heart Twinkle Twinkle, and Persevere, Gu Hae-Ra.

Intend to watch/get around to at some point. All in good time:
Ex-Girlfriend Club, Let’s Eat 2, Maids, Master Of Trade: Inn 2015, Midnight Diner, Six Flying Dragons, Sweden Laundry, and Twenty Again.

Who had the best breakout performance?
Kim Moo-Yul (aka Kim Mu-yeol) for My Beautiful Bride and Lee Ja-In for My Love Eun-Dong (aka Beloved Eun-Dong). A memorable and breakout "TV" role for the both of them and they deserved to be nominees in this category.

Missing Category:
Which drama had the best youth counterpart cast as the main lead character?

For me, the most overrated drama of the year was I Remember You. Everyone kept going on about it but when I finally got started watching I was so shocked. First of all, it was needlessly complicated, also Seo In-gook and Jang Nara had no chemistry whatsoever (although I understand that they probably weren't supposed to, given the nature of the show) and it was mind-numbingly boring. I quit watching in the middle of episode 4. The most disappointing dramas of the year were Producers, Scholar Who Walks The Night and High Society, in that order. These were dramas I looked forward to watching so much, there was no saving grace for Producers at all. The best thing about Scholar was coming to the comment section and reading Cali's wonderfully hilarious snippets. And while I know this is a very unpopular opinion, I stuck with High Society for Uee and Sung Joon and I was so disappointed that Park Hyung-sik and Im Ji-yeon's characters got much more development than the actual leads. Now, I don't have anything against Hyung-sik and I really adored Im Ji-yeon's character a lot but I was seeing red at the end of the show because I was promised a reverse Cinderella story and got a run-off-the-mill Chaebol/Candy story with a 'oh here's a badly-written reverse' on the side.
Wow, I've been waiting all year to rant about that.
Oh and BTW, the descriptions are hilarious as always. 역씨, 드라마빈스입니다.

Blame it on the ratings..! Korean TV channels have this nasty "habit" of wrapping the finales up depending on the nunbers (because they don't usually cancel the shows). Very, very few exemptions only prove this undeniable rule.

For best breakout performance / show-stealer I would have at least nominated:

Jang Hee-jin / dead sister in Achiara. Who cares is she has been acting forever? Who paid attention to her in "Big"? Who even noticed that she was the same girl unless they looked her up?

Koh Joon-Hee / Ha-ri from She Was Pretty. Who noticed her in Yawang or Chaser? I certainly didn't. But she was way more interesting than the leads in Pretty.

I still cannot believe how Yong Pal and Mask received such high ratings - while Sassy go go almost bombed! it must have been the star power of the lead actors. which just goes to show that the PD and scripwriter, more than the actors, carry the show - in my opinion :P. becoz Sassy had so much heart and warmth and ranks as one of the better high school dramas. ah well, such is drama life. :(

1. best transformation (rags to riches, beast to beauty, beauty to beast, etc)

There are so many lovely OST and songs - it'd be so much fun to see which songs resonate with the fans and DB regulars :)

The plot is simply amazing. All the actors were extremely skilful too. The bromace between Park BoGum and Seo InGuk is not to be missed. The female badass Jang Nara who never ages. The adorable and clumsy team leader Lee ChunHee.

The whole chemistry between the cast and the storyline line is way too perfect. Such an underrated drama of the year.

Its an ideal kdrama for those who want to venture into the thriller and psychological scene.

DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED

no offence to Healer fans, but on reflection (and let it be put on the record that I am a huge wookie fan! ), Healer was over-rated. it was a good drama - but not that good (no, don't hate me !). sleekly produced, lovingly choreographed - who could forget JCW's rooftop ninja acrobatics? , a good musical score with brooding and tragic undertones, it drew viewers week after week. But at the end of it all, what exactly was it about? The sinister mastermind went into hiding and the shady conglomerates which were holding S Korea hostage through economics were conveniently relegated to the shadows as JCW and PMY frolicked around gathering other more interesting news.
Plus, there was no chemistry between JCW and PMY - compare that with JCK and HJW in Empress Ki. sorry, wookie! but healer was more about u than anything else!

to me the best drama was KMHM - there's nothing which can top JS's acting of all the 7 personalities.

dear dramadreamer,
re: your "there was no chemistry between JCW and PMY – compare that with JCK and HJW in Empress Ki. sorry, wookie! but healer was more about u than anything else! "
forgive me if i sound offensive or anything, i have been reading and trying not to reply, think i will quote the site below and allow others to show you why so many of us loved Healer,
http://morumoruisland.blogspot.sg/
1. there are loads of chemistry between JCW & PMY, at least at many of our eyes at moru moru, "ours" means thousands and thousands from international sites from Asia to Europe to Middle East to India to China.... etc. if you couldn't indentify, its fine, btw, i do admired and support Hyun and Ji-An (IRY) when many goes damning Ji-An.
2. "JCW and PMY frolicked" charmed many, but not the main focus for the others, i know it will asking too much to expect you or any to really study the characters, and admire Ji-an for her gutsy, courageous, patient, trusting spirit, forgiving ... because some of us do spend certain times trying to understand certain roles, so "that role" speak to our hearts, while others do not. so i do accept that you cannot see the gems in her character, just like many do not see Cha Ji-an too, instead focus on how forlorn is Min-Ya.
3, and this No. 3, is the reason why i reply you. Healer is NOT about JI CHANG WOOK. yes, i wrote a lot of nice thing about him. and he scores legions of fans from 4 corners of earth, but many of us are just into Seo JungHoo. reasons, i stated inMoru Moru, JCW is not SJH. when JCW came to my country few weeks ago for Fan-meeting to promote some shampoo, i didn't even try to apply for entrance ticket. i do congrat those who went, and its really nothing wrong to ship JCW and PMY, fans has their right to ship any OTP. i (and many at moru moru, or beanie world) only love JCW and PMY. that's why i have no prob accepting PMY new role in Remember.
all in all, hope i don't sound offensive.
again, if i do wrote tons and love Lee Hyun with his Ji-an.
Hyeon-An, is 15+ alpha. (see, i remember)
but to me alone, they are still second to Jung-shin (my alpha omega.)
