Park Bo-young wooed by Savvy producers for Oh My Ghostess

Park Bo-young hasn’t done a drama in yeaaaars—she’s been cultivating a thriving film career instead, with projects like Werewolf Boy, Hot-Blooded Youth, and Speedy Scandal—but she may be heading back to television for the first time in eight years. She’s positively considering the new show from the High School King of Savvy producers, now titled Oh My Ghostess. (How adorable is that title? It’s a pun combining ghost with goddess, way better than the initially proposed Love and Soul.)

And trust tvN to be the broadcasting hotshot to potentially lure her back to the small screen—they’re seriously poaching all the talent from the Big Three these days, though I won’t complain since so often their shows are more to my liking anyway. Not universally so, but they’ve got a solid success rate, whereas the other three are rather hit or miss.

Oh My Ghostess sounds hilarious just from the one-line premise: It’s an “occult romantic comedy” about a timid young woman who becomes possessed by the ghost of a lustful virgin female ghost, and she’ll romance a haughty chef who (of course) doesn’t believe in ghosts. It sounds too cute for words! Sort of like Master’s Sun and Chilling Romance—those had their flaws, but imagine if we pulled out all the flawed parts and just left behind the fun, hilarious bits.

Plus, from this writing team I’m expecting a lot of cute comedy surrounding a poignant heart, and I’d love to see Park Bo-young attack this character. It’s been so long since she’s done a drama that I wouldn’t be surprised if many international drama fans aren’t familiar with her, but she’s so winsome and appealing that I’ll be thrilled if this casting comes to fruition.

The male lead is still being cast, and the drama will follow Ex-Girlfriend Club, premiering in mid-July.

Please no Lee jong suk! A relatively new face or someone we haven't seen a lot would be perfect! Or Hong Jong-Hyun? Or Jung Il-woo :)

He's a pretty model with little to no acting talent.

He's an actor/model. He's been in a lot of dramas. He was one of the vampires in 'Vampire Idol' and he was in 'Dating Agency Cyrano'. He's was also on the variety show 'We Got Married' with Yura from the idol group Girls' Day and was a host of 'Style Log' with Lee Soo-Hyuk.

I personally don't see him in this. He's never left a deep impression in anything I've seen him in. Most of the actors that have gone on to success have had an IT factor that I just don't get from him. Park Bo Young is pretty much a movie star at this point. She hasn't been in a drama in years after slaying the box office with 'Speedy Scandal'. She's finally returning to the world of dramas and, IMO, she deserves a strong lead to be her match. The 'King of High School' team did a great job casting that drama so I hope the same effort is put into 'Oh My Ghostess'. I heard Seo In Guk was in talks to do the Jang Nara drama and it would be great for him to get another lead role on a public broadcast network, but I think he would be perfect with Park Bo Young. Cherry on top would be the 'King of High School' reunion.

Lee Jong Suk is considered too famous to star in a cable drama. Although idk why since cable dramas are far more interesting and generally liked these days.

I don't know, people love to say this but there's really not much difference in quality between commercial and cable, the only difference is that cable targets the younger generation more, but in general the plots aren't more groundbreaking either. Commercial and cable both have their fair share of hits and misses.

Awesome, I love her. She's so winsome and adorable. Yeung Seung Ho will be awesome if he's cast! Or even Jong Soong Ki, if the schedule doesn't clash with Descendants of the Sun.

I love the premise! I never finished High School King (it was funny but the romance freaked me out so I stopped, and just never got back to it) But I'm a fan of PBY and the fact that she's considering a return to television is enough to peak my interest. Just imagining it, she'll play the hell out of this character, it will be hilarious. Definitely keeping an eye on this one!

I was put off by the romance as well. Thot the high school character was to immature that i can't get past him trying to woo the working lady. never got to finish HSKKS. I don't remember which episode I stopped.

But this new series sounds fun.

But wasn't another guy up for the part? SIG will look like Jang Nara's little brother as baby faced as she is.

Wait. What!? I thought Lee Sang Yoon was being courted? I dropped HSKOS but loved SIG in AM 1997 so I'm fine with him. Jang Nara and him are both baby-faced. But I can't imagine that pairing.

Lol she was in Jungle Fish with Kim Soo-hyun and a short-lived sitcom with Lee Min-ho and Moon Chae-won, plus a handful of cameo and "young (main character)" type roles.

I kinda wanna see Park Hae Jin in a romcom as the male lead...he'd do haughty pretty well, I think. But I think I've read somewhere that he wants to take on darker roles, so it probably won't happen...
Ooh, maybe they could get Kim Woo Bin to do this one since he turned down Warm & Cozy...

Ever since I read the news that Park Hae Jin may be considered for the role of Yoo Jung in the drama adaption of Cheese in the Trap, I am freakin' anticipating it. He said dark roles and it fits perfectly.
Now, we just need a good female lead with great chemistry with him. My heart says Sooyoung but because this is a highly anticipated drama, I doubt that PDs would ever choose her. Plus, gotta add the Knetz' backlash --'.
Whatever <3

Ooooh, Lee Dong-Wook! I didn't watch Iron Man, so it seriously feels like I haven't seen Wookie on my screen in absolute *ages*. He's a pretty good actor and I love him in rom-coms, but he honestly has a bad track record with picking projects sometimes. I'd love to see him come back in something cute and fluffy like this.

After the past two weeks of drama-rejection drama, I think I'll only be happy once an actor actually confirms participation. I've got my hopes up for both Hello Monster and ITWY's remake and that left me nowhere.

Still, I can't believe tvN is actually getting PBY to even consider their drama. They really are moving up the ranks and deservedly so. Now if this happens, I just need a good male lead.

She deserves a leading role, it's about freaking time she gets leading roles on tv. No wonder she prefers to do films instead.

It's not like she doesn't get offers though? She just preferred to build her film career, it's actually a surprise that she's considering a return to television.

I think she also was blacklisted for a while when she left her former agency on bad terms.
Movies have more freedom and I think she's done good choices regarding scripts.

Park Seo Jin actually fits perfectly for the male counterpart. Oh my god, I want this to happen now. But I always leads on my own and get disappointed because my choices are never casted. So I won't jinx it this time and thus not put any hopes up.

I've never seen Boyoung in any drama to be honest! But I know she'll nail it. The premise sounds so funny already.

Now hoping for a perfect 'boyfriend'!
Personally I'm rooting for Sung Joon because he'd do haughty very well. Plus I think he's got the chops to play comedy too!
Another reason is because I want to erase a painful memory which is Hyde, Jekyll, Me.
