Ha Ji-won courted for remake of In Time With You
by girlfriday
Ha Ji-won! In a rom-com! Do we even need to know what it’s about? Okay, I guess I’ll tell you what it’s about, then we can cheer afterwards. SBS is developing a remake of the 2011 Taiwanese drama In Time With You (also known as Conditions of Love, starring Ariel Lin and Bolin Chen), and Ha Ji-won is now considering the offer to headline the series. The remake will be called The Time I’ve Loved You, 7000 Days and is being planned for a broadcast later this year.
The romantic comedy is about a man and a woman who are best friends (my favorite kind!!). They turn 30 and make a pact to be married before 35, and race each other to the altar while “helping” weed out potential suitors for each other. They find that they’re constantly dissatisfied with each other’s boyfriends and girlfriends, because they’ve really been in love with each other all this time. In the original drama it’s a 14-year friendship; in the remake it’ll be 20 years, hence the 7000 days.
The remake will be penned by writer Min Hyo-jung of Full House and Attic Cat, and produced by the drama house that did Will You Give Love Away and When a Man Loves; a PD has yet to be attached. Besides the fact that the Taiwanese drama was a huge hit both domestically and in Korea, the story basically describes my favorite type of romantic fiction.
It’s described as a thoughtful rom-com that navigates the thin line between love and friendship, with a realistic story and subtle emotions, and promises upbeat romance but also deeper discussions about life. It’s been forever and a day since a show like Bottom of the 9th With 2 Outs came along, and the fact that it might star Ha Ji-won just makes it perfect.
The Time I’ve Loved You is in negotiations to air later this year on SBS.

Good news all over dramaland (and I'm not even complaining)!
I'm currently watching In Time With You (supeeeer late I know) and I'm so excited to see Korea's take on it! The chemistry between Ariel Lin and Chen Bolin is amazing so I hope if Ha Jiwon signs on, she gets to be paired with an actor who can have great chemistry with her, too. Ariel Lin and Chen Bolin looked absolutely perfect as You Qing and Da Ren! I think SBS made a good choice of courting her as Korea's You Qing.
I'm really watching this especially if Ha Jiwon signs on! Can't wait for this!

I'm not overly fond of re-makes as even similar cultures can't seem to get them right, but Ha Ji-won.
If she takes the role I'll probably give it a chance.

Ah, I kept confusing ITWY with In a Good Way! No wonder the plot confused me.
I'm not familiar with ITWY so can't react if the slight plot change can be good or bad. It just reminds me of My Bestfriend's Wedding. Interesting...
I have no idea who should act opposite HJW though. 17 years of friendship means they should be very comfy around each other.
Since it's from the Attic Cat writer, maybe Kim Rae-won? After Punch, I wanna see him in a light/fun drama again. :D

I love everything about ITWY. The female lead in that drama has a meaty role, and HJW will do complete justice to it. Please accept it.

The writer from Full House? Well, I didn't like Full House. So, I'm not too sure about the writer. I love the original version and I just hope that they pick the right actor to play Li Da Ren. Ha Ji Won is a good actress who always pick up good/successful projects (Why can't Hyun Bin do that??) so I hope that if she do pick up this project that the writer won't butcher it up, seeing that it's a remake and everything is already laid out. Please SBS, don't make the same mistake as HydeJekyll.

It's gonna be awkward to see her in high school uniform, even though just for a short portion.
I adore Li Da Ren character so much so hopefully they will pick a good actor for it. Gong Yoo is the first one came to my mind. Jo In Sung will be great too. I've been waiting for HJW & JIS reunion since 'What happened in Bali'

I hope Ha Ji Won will reunite with her former co-star(s) in this drama. So Ji Sub, Jo In Sung, Kang Dong Won, Kwon Sang Woo, even Yeon Jung Hoon can be good...
Hope SBS will not mess this drama. They really need a hit drama after poor HJM. I can safely say SBS dream HJW can re-create SeGa ratings right?

YES. Ha Ji-won is always a yes.
I love stories about friends-to-lovers, so this is right up my alley.
Admittedly, I'm not so thrilled about remakes (of any kind), but this is great news. And, I'm not too excited that it's the writer of Full House, but they've got great material to work with. I'm really hoping they don't mess this up. Dunno if that's too much to ask for.
Gong Yoo or Jo In-sung sound good for the male lead, I won't mind either one of them. But GY needs a good comeback, and HJW said she wanted to work with him next. SBS really better not mess up the casting for this.

Yayy! This new just makes me happy. Really hope she will agree, because I would love her in this kind of role.
Doesn't even really matter to me who her leading man is. Ha Ji-won has great chemistry with pretty much everyone. Though I saw someone mention Jin Yi-han, and I'd totally be behind that pairing too.

It seems that Gong Yoo has a movie to film in April, so its not so possible for him to be the male lead although I think he suits the role.
Anyhow, I'm gonna watch this for Ha Ji Won regardless of anything. Anything with HJW is a must watch! I just hope that the writer can do a good job since I'm not too fond of his/her past work.

I've never watched In Time With You, but I've heard good things about it.
This remake may turn out quite well also. ..... I wonder who else they have in mind, besides Ha Ji-won, for this drama.
It'll be interesting to see what happens.

well fated to love and Queen worked but even though I like Ariel Lin heck I even belonged to her fan club years back, I can not say In Time with You was one of her best TW dramas in fact I spent much of the time watching it with the FF button, but yeah ha ji won in a com/rom certainly worth looking at, she always very watchable

I don't know much about In time with you, but the premise sounds good.
I'd like to see her paired with So Ji-sub, that man needs to be in more rom-coms, or even Jo In-sung.

I really really hope they don't just get a 20-something actor and then age him up. Since this is gonna be a 20-year friendship, I'd really want something utterly convincing. The chemistry and acting ability of the two leads are what's gonna make or break a show like this, so I hope they'll cast one of the 30-something actors that's closer to Ha Ji Won's age - and hopefully with just as much acting experience!
I would love to see Gong Yoo in this. I think he does have a Li Da Ren vibe and I can definitely see him selling the whole pining one-sidedly angle. If the leads were gonna be in their late 20s like in the original, I would have loved to see Seo In Guk play Li Da Ren's role, but he could never pass for someone in his mid to late 30s. I mean, just not too long ago, he was playing a high schooler, so.

How about this guy. WON BIN. He's like the perfect guy (almost) everyone wants. Since Li Da Ren is the perfect boyfriend whom Chen You Qing hilariously misses to see, Won Bin is a great choice. Haha.

I like Ha Ji-won although I don't think her range as an actress is particularly wide. She's not pushing any boundaries with this character, but she'll play it to a T, because that's the kind of role she tends to take and does well in.
I'm not sure I'll be tuning in though. Although I like friendship-based romances, the friendship e.g. in Bottom of the 9th With 2 Outs was pretty solid, the one the In Time with You was Ariel's character taking Li Da Ren for granted and Li Da Ren bending over backwards and licking her shoes. That's just not friendship to me. The Full House writer doesn't inspire any confidence that the characters would be improved in this manner, though I hope the Korean version will make the episodes when the couple finally gets together less awkward/bizarre!

Yessh!!
Loved that drama and love Ha Ji Won so I'm all thumbs up for this :D Just hope she signs on and they find a suitable male lead to scorch up the screen with their chemistry.
Ack, not convinced about that Full House writer though. I know it was popular and all but oh man was it annoying!
Give me some more of that 9 ends 2 out goodness instead, pretty please!
Also, Bolin Chen's song for the OST? Soooo beautiful <3 I'll just go re-listen to it now :) Here's a link to youtube, if anyone is unlucky enough not to have heard it.

Oh my gosh...I just watched the first episode of the Taiwanese version and I really hope Ha Ji Won decides to do this project - she would be perfect for this role and it's such a huge departure from the types of roles she normally takes on. The choices for male lead are huge and although I would love to see her paired with Hyun Bin again, I hope other more mature men are considered for the male lead: Song Seung-Heon, So Ji Sub, Go Soo, Jung Woo-Sung, Joo Sang-Wook, or Gong Yoo (in that order) would be my immediate choices.

I learnt the hard way that more than the cast, the writers and the production team really are the pillars of a good drama.
I love Ha Ji Won, but I'm not sold on this remake. I hated Full House and When a man loves was a disaster. Not sure how good the drama can be with such weak pillars.
For her sake, hope it works out. If I hear good stuff about it, I'll give it a try.

This writer does not give me the confidence to cast my biases so...but I agree with the suggestions that her leading man can't be too young. I've got nothin' but time will tell. But I suggest a pithier title because title + # of days= trauma. *Cough* God's Gift *Cough* How 'bout just 7000 Days? Remakes don't always have to bear the name of their predecessor.

As long as they give her a good pairing.
I'd love to see her opposite Lee Jung Jin for some reason.
I wouldn't mind her reunite with Bi Rain (he needs to start choosing better roles).
Gong Yoo would be an interesting pairing! I'd definitely approve of this!
