I'm a big fan of Kim Sae Ron and I believe she is talented and mature enough to pay a high-schooler despite her young age.

That being said this casting feels really wrong. Casting a 13-year-old alongside 22/23/24-year-olds really? This is going to be really awkward, especially if they develop a romance angle.
There should be plenty of idols or young actors like Kwak Dong Yun who are more age-appropriate to costar in this drama.

why can't they cast real teen actors to play highschoolers? I mean 17-18 year old teenagers... they cast Lee Min Ho in Heirs (I know...), and now a girl who's only 14?

Is it really so difficult to cast people of an appropriate age? Someone might think that there are only elementary school kids and people old enough to go to the army with nobody in between.

Having taught at a school which had both middle- and highschool classes I know that as little as 3 years of difference makes the students almost different species: physically, intellectually, emotionally. So in real life students with such an age gap wouldn't even interact, maybe beside the younger crowd being chased away from the seniors' favourite spots ("because they are dumb and noisy!").
I haven't seen anything with KSR yet, and by no means do I want to criticize her, but really, either she's too young or the rest of the cast too old. Not to mention the fact that idols tend to be well grown, fine young men - the age difference will even more jarring, I guess.

Or: KSR's character will be a geeeeenius who goes to school with people several years older than herself...

C'mon, the plot is totally sweet and straight up shoujo manga stuff that I'd devour with no second thoughts but hey she's freaking 13! and those idols they picked to play are at least 10 years older. Why can't they pick other teen actors? Gaaaah,

Sure, she is young (15 - Korean age) but it will be the same as Ma Boy! They will have a pure romance with a hug near the end and like hope for the future. I think it will be great. Also they probably cast someone younger so they could focus on the pure and angel aspect and also for the boy's images. Now they have an excuse for the dramas lack of skinship

The age does bother me because I'm guessing there's some romance in it..? I am all for age-gap romance but she is 13/14 (!), too young to be romancing 23/24 yr olds. Either they needed younger guys or an older female lead.

well maybe there is no serious romance. Perhap crush? or love puppies. I'm sure most students have crush when their study. them they will focus more on friednship just like dream high without suzy and taecyon and kim so hyun kissing scene

The problem is that this is a kdrama and romances are rarely pure (not prudish, pure).

What I mean is, Kawaguchi is 16 in the live-action Ouran while Yamamoto was 23-24, but that was not in any way compromising the teenage actress, since the romance was very PG-13 and cartoonish and what was mostly explored was their friendship and how they care for each other as people and buddies within a group.

They were mindful of the fact that the actress is a minor, but beyond that, the characters were the same age, so having a romantic angle was not creepy.

Korean dramas just don't have that slice of life quality about them. They inject makjang and "passion" and such, which would definitely take this into creepy territory. I don't think I trust a kdrama to be sweet and pure enough to make such a crush type of romance work without the actress being in some way or other put in very age inappropriate conditions.

Seriously, the story's really interesting, but casting a thirteen year old against twenty-two and twenty-three year old male leads is too much. There are so many other age appropriate actresses who can act quite well, why can't they cast anyone from among them? I DO NOT like this.

Since the Infinite boys were casted first, then I think that Saeron should be replaced with an older actress. Not hating against her, but she is young, and you can't change that. She WOULD fit a role like this, but she can't be in a love triangle with college-age guys. IT'S JUST WRONG. Plus, in some comments, ppl say that idols should be replaced with actors. Well, both Woohyun and Sungyeol ARE actors, and they have experience. Not as much as the main lead, but they still have talent nevertheless. Besides, what's wrong with using idols to get more views? It's working, isn't it?
